  1. I didn't care for the scene with Rick kissing the married woman. I don't think it added anything to the story that wasn't already obvious.   I liked Daryl's storyline this week, I am not sure how he will do as a recruiter, but I know that he will be more comfortable coming and going.    I wouldn't go as far as saying Aaron was toe to toe with Daryl, but he wasn't useless either.   Sasha is going to have a hard time adapting, if she can. Maybe she will be asked to leave?   I am also wondering if we will meet the 'Wolves' this season, or if we will deal with the inner turmoil of Alexandria for the remaining three episodes.
  2. Daryl made a new friend...
  3. My stepfather gave me a Marlin lever gun in .357 Magnum growing up. That was one heck of a gun and holds a soft spot in my heart. One day I will talk him out of it, as he kept possession when I left home the way I did.
  4. If he already has a rimfire, it would be time to step him up to a centerfire caliber. I think a .223 or .243 would be a great investment for him.    Of course a 20ga break action shotgun wouldn't be a bad choice either.   I just fail to see the benefit of a .17HMR if he already has a 10/22 and doesn't have a shotgun or centerfire rifle.                       A single action .22LR pistol wouldn't be a bad idea either. I know my daughter has been pestering me for a Heritage Rough Rider of her own for a couple of years now, and she has a long way to go to eleven.
  5. I quit smoking about two years ago after twenty years, it is a nice feeling.
  6. Same here. I think in ten digit phone numbers now. Have for a while. I even have an out of state (Knoxville 865) area code, and have for years in Kentucky. No point changing a number that has been mine for fifteen years.
  7. I got a really good laugh out of that.
  8. Adapt and overcome.   I am left handed, right eye dominant. I learned to shoot right handed. I can shoot a pistol equally well with either hand, but I have always shot a rifle right handed.   My daughter and my wife are unfortunately the exact opposite. They are both right handed and left eye dominant. My daughter started shooting at four or five, and I have taught her since the beginning to shoot left handed rifle and which ever hand she prefers for pistols.    There are a few reasons for this. But the main one is simplicity. Even if some fancy $100 sight mount existed that allowed her to shoulder the rifle right handed and shoot left handed, it would be awkward, and would be required to be moved, or multiple purchased for every gun she shoots. Which would have to be re-zeroed, which would cost more ammo. She would be unable to have any commonality with any other rifle in the home, or at the range unless it was equipped with the fancy device. If the fancy device broke, or was lost, or somehow otherwise became disabled, she would be unable to operate a rifle as she had become dependent on  the device and not her skill and ability to overcome adversity.   In short, make him shoot left handed, and make him get used to it. Sure, that is easy for me to say after 30+ years of shooting right handed, it is natural to me now.    Your other option would be to train his weak eye and force him to use it, but I don't think that would be as viable, or as long term successful as just biting the bullet and learning to shoot left handed. While it is uncomfortable, it is the better solution.   Be positive with it, don't make him feel like a freak, it is a common obstacle, and with proper training it can easily be overcome. If you make it a hassle, or a fuss it could turn him off of shooting and make him feel self conscious. You don't want that, you want what is best for him.    I am not a professional trainer, so take my advice with that disclaimer, but I am a man who learned to shoot cross eye dominant and is successfully teaching a cross eye dominant child.
  9. I also thought it was funny when the 'runner' handed Glenn the little ,22LR target pistol. "We got some sweet guns today.."
  10. Carol cracked me up.   "I miss that silly stupid man everyday..."
  11. I really liked Glenn out on the supply run. Or, rather at the end of it. I cheered when he swung.
  12. Seemed rather like a jealous husband to me.
  13. Yeah, what was that little boy's name, Ron?
  14. I liked Rick's closing line.   I don't trust the leader of Alexandria.
  15. Yeah the town the track is in is actually named Speedway, it is a working class part of town. I lived in the Fountain Square area, so I was well familiar with the rough sides of town. I felt fine in Speedway.
  16. You made of money?   The Brickyard would be the less expensive of the two, but both are expensive. Make sure you have your reservations well in advance. Anytime I went we 'camped' in a local parking lot. You wind up paying $50 a day just for parking. It has been 15 years since I went, and frankly, as I went to school in Indy, I was just there for the party the week of the race, not particularly the race. Although I was a Donato's Manager during the time and participated in the parade and got tickets. I was still so messed up I don't remember crap of the race.
  17. That is what the person I spoke to last night stated, that in Kentucky you had to be licensed.   At the end of the day I just want my car back the way it was before everything happened. That is the most important part. I am frustrated that I will be required to do any legwork or be inconvenienced in any manner as I didn't do anything wrong except be in his way. But that is again neither here nor there.   Looking at the damage this morning I feel better. Sleeping on it let me realize that it could have (and I have) been in much worse. Much worse. So there is that.   While I would like to be compensated for any and all loss, again, I just want my car back whole the way it was yesterday morning.
  18. "Umm... Ummm... This is something a Kentucky Specialist will have to answer for you..."   I guess that is what I get for calling GEICO at 1am...
  19. G, my feelings are hurt. You said you would be there, but you weren't.
  20.   This confuses me, not because I don't believe you, but that yesterday my car was valued as X, tomorrow I have it repaired back to perfect and the day after tomorrow I decide to sell it, and it is only worth X/1.3. I didn't do anything wrong, why am I suddenly penalized by my car being worth considerably less than it was two days ago? I have read a few things that state I can be reimbursed, but it will take a significant about of fighting to do so. Apparently most people give up.   That just doesn't seem right to me. Where is the justice in all of that? That I should just pay $2k out of my own pocket to offset the fact that a blemish on the car's history drops the value by 25%?
  21. Oh, I am pissed, and I get more pissed every time I think about it. But the logical part of my brain wins out anymore and tells me to take a deep breath and be calm and think.   I am hesitant to go through my insurance, I mean, if I claim and then pay the deductible will that make my rates go up? That is something I worry about, here in Kentucky I am easily paying double what we paid in Tennessee for insurance, and my wife and I have (had) perfect driving records of quite a while. If just changing states doubled my rates, what would having a claim do to them? I also am pretty adamant about paying for anything out of my own pocket. I didn't do anything wrong. I don't care if I do get reimbursed, I shouldn't have to pay. Period.   I suppose that I might change my mind a bit tomorrow when I am calmer. Btu then again I might be even angrier when I see the car in the daylight.
  22. I don't even know the kid's name, I was pretty steamed over the whole thing. Sure the car is two years old at this point, but I bought it brand new with less than 5 miles on it, so to me, it still is brand new. The deputy said I can pick the report up on Monday. I will move forward with it then. I was really staying away from the kid and trying to remain calm. Sure he was a moron, but getting angry and screaming at him wouldn't have helped the situation. All of the information will be on the police report when I pick it up.   This is all just kinda new to me. The last wreck I was in was so long ago (and it wasn't my fault either) that I don't even remember the process. I know that an adjuster from the other driver's insurance was at my house in a day or two, they paid for a rental for a week (then stiffed me with the bill,) and then made an insulting offer on my wife's low mileage Regal GS. But I can't for the life of me tonight remember how I started the process. Maybe in the morning when I am not as angry I will be able to figure it out.   As far as the other car, it was just the kid driving it, he didn't have anyone else in the car. He 'told' me it was his GF's car, same thing he told the responding officer. The cop didn't act like anything was out of the ordinary, took our information and sent us both on our way saying we could pick the report up on Monday.   As far as my out of pocket expenses, I won't be paying a thing. After the last time, with the insurance company stiffing me with the rental car bill, and then giving me the run around for nearly six months to reimburse me, I won't pay a single bill or whip my card out anywhere.
  23. I won't be able to pick up the report until Monday, the kid was driving his girlfriend's car and spent at least fifteen minutes trying to convince me that there was no damage to either car. I highly doubt that he will self report to give them the heads up.
  24. The only time I have dealt with insurance is when the wife's Buick was totaled a few years ago. That was pretty simple for the most part. Their adjuster came and looked at the car, declared it totaled and cut me a check for it minus buy-back because I kept it. This is different. I was sitting at a red light, some kid 'had a brake failure' and slammed into the back of Harmony. She will need a new rear fascia, the rear pan was ripped a good six inches. I honestly don't know how to proceed. I called the police, had them file a report, the kid had insurance, so I can pick up the report on Monday. But as I have never had to have a car repaired at a shop on someone else's dime, I don't know how to proceed. The other thing I am concerned about is diminished value. Now that Carfax will have record of the accident, she is worth several grand less, right? How do I go about claiming that against the other insurance? Honestly, if it hadn't knocked the reflector out and ripped the fascia pretty badly, and she wasn't a new car, I would have just rolled with it. But it did, and she is new, so I am being a dick about the whole thing. Advice and opinions?
