  1. I fall in the category of not liking folks that put a 'trade value' on items. That defeats the whole point of a trade. You either want to trade or you don't. If I offer you an item, and you don't want to trade you either counter or say no. Assigning a value to a trade is a futile exercise, as obviously you have an inflated value of your own items.   The way I see it, you are either willing to sell something at a cash price or you are willing to trade for whatever strikes your fancy. If you want a specific item, sell your item for the cash required for that item. Setting a 'trade value' is kind of like waffling, it is leaving you a disclaimer to back out of any trade because you don't like the item. A disclaimer that isn't necessary, it isn't like someone is forcing you to agree to the trade.   IMO if I see something with a trade value assigned to it that is above the sell price, I pass it up, as it is the sign of someone who is going to waste my time with a bunch of back and forth.
  2. I have bought and sold a lot of stuff through CL. I spend a fair amount of time a week browsing to see if something catches my eye. It never fails that someone has a two dollar item they think is worth ten dollars. Sometimes I am interested in the two dollar item and I offer then a buck fifty for it. Most of the time they don't take the offer, and sometimes they get butt-hurt over it.   Me, I don't have a problem listening to offers, and if I am not interested, I say so. but the one thing that remains a constant, nearly everyone on CL thinks their two dollar item is a ten dollar item. The difference is that some folks understand how to negotiate and get two fifty out of their item. Some don't.
  3. I am going to assume the issue is the other shooters and their guns, not your guns. You know when your gun is going to go off. It is the cat next to you, or two tables down that is throwing your groove off.   You can double stuff as mentioned above, ear plugs and muffs, that will help muffle the sound. However you will still hear it, and if you are close enough feel the concussion.   My suggestion would be to sit there and close your eyes. Sit back off of the line at the back of the range. Just absorb it all. Don't shoot, just listen and feel. It might not happen instantly, but with your eyes closed you won't have any visual cues to warn you the blast is coming. It will just come. Take a few minutes to let that sink in, then try tuning it all out.
  4. How old is this van? Because anything later than the early 70's will still need a key to unlock the column. Or break it, which would be very obvious.
  5. .
  6. Yeah, I will watch that.
  7. I didn't mean it like that! I meant it as great minds think alike. Sent from my LGLS740 using Tapatalk
  8. I said the same thing in a similar thread yesterday. Sent from my LGLS740 using Tapatalk
  9. I keep all my accessories organized in ammo cans. Ammo cans for ammo, for magazines, and then a large mortar or similar can holds all my accessories. I have a couple of dozen cans all stacked nice and pretty with a label denoting contents.
  10. I remember reading something about a similar case in the Tri-Cities area a year or so ago, where some crazy cat was mixing his own homemade 'energy' drinks with meth and other stuff. Said his secret ingredient was urine.
  11. I can't even find anything on the news about this anymore. What was the official story?
  12. Few things more dreadful that clicking that unknown link.
  13. 30/30.   Though I guess on the last one with Twiggy.
  14. Glad to hear she is doing well and headed to a good home.   I still wonder if she and Bandit would have gotten along.
  15. Ford guy here. So I will obviously say the Edge.   Also the whole lower cylinder count being less powerful is a myth. Modern four cylinders regularly make over 200HP and are very fuel efficient. For reference the Ford Mustang GT in 1988 made 237HP out of a 5.0L V8.   When you throw in technology like direct injection, variable cam timing and old tech that is being advanced, like turbos, the V8 is an relic of another time. Even Ford is going to the Ecoboost Cyclone V6 in its halo cars and trucks.   I love the rumble of a V8, so don't take me as some tree hugging hippy or something like that. But I love power and speed as much as technology and economy.   The standard of the future will be a minimum of 50HP+ per cylinder that is square or near it at half a liter per slug. They will be fours and sixes. With whistling snails.   /soapbox

    SNOW!!

I have been out and about in the Mustang and the Fiesta all through 'SNOWMEGADDON!!!' with little to no issues.
  18. A typical water heater will last about ten years at the max. If it is eleven years old, someone got a good run out of it.   If you were in Louisville I could put a 40 or 50 gallon gas or electric Bradford White in there, labor, haul off and permit for $650, special because you know me price.    But yes, I would look at getting it replaced. Maintenance is a moot point at eleven years old.
  19. If I have a vice, a hammer, a hacksaw, a grinder and a file available, odds are pretty good that I am going to be in a place that already secured by a deadbolt or better. Which while still only marginal, would at least take two kicks instead of one.   Locks are for honest people.

    SNOW!!

I left it behind twenty years ago, and I don't think I would ever go back.

    SNOW!!

Tellico is about an hour and a half to the SE of Knoxville. It is a fair drive from where you are. You are on the Plateau, Tellico is literally where the mountains start. I grew up between Rural Vale and Coker Creek, it was a nice quick drive over the hills into Murphy NC for the fun stuff. You know, the place they pretend to be Moonshiners on TV.

    SNOW!!

Having been raised in Tellico Plains I have to say that it is some pretty country. And that is about the only thing I have good to say about the area.   Coming over the hill on 68 into town right there at Yate's, looking over the mountains is about the best scene in the world IMO. But it is a very poor area, with a big drug problem. It is definitely not a place to raise your children.
  23. Dammit, now I want one.   I have just recently started using the voice commands on my smart phone. For a tech savvy guy, I am pretty resistant to change.

    SNOW!!

The snow just hit up here in Louisville KY, it isn't accumulating yet, but it is white out conditions. I just started sending my office staff home.
