  1. Yes, the three delays have been the only firearm transactions at the LGS. I have bought other items with no issues at all. Yes, the delays were background check related. Not a denial, but a delay, which have all been approved within 24 hours. Honestly I think that they are misspelling my information. I didn't come out and say it but the it was mentioned by the woman who entered my information "I just entered what you had written down..." The price on the gun is $100 less than a similar (nicer) model at a much closer LGS that I do much more business with. My wife seems to think that the extra $100 is worth no hassle.
  2. Lets say like most of us here you collect firearms. You have a few favorite haunts. Let's say you have a nationally known store that is fair drive away. The opposite direction of where you always go. Thus even though it is 45 minutes away from your home, it is theoretically an hour and a half away from where you work or otherwise shop. Now let's say that of the last fifteen firearms transactions you have had you have had three delays. All three of the delays are at the exact same store. Yes, the one that is 45 minutes or double away from where you spend most of your time. The delay is always given the go ahead within 24 hours. But it is ONLY at this one store. Would you continue to shop at this store? I understand the laws and regulations, and I didn't lose my cool or anything. At this point I wasn't even surprised when it happened. I just told the woman that I would await their call the next day, but that I doubted that I would return as the distance and time was not worth the hassle to me. For the sake of conversation it as an FEG HiPower Clone in fair shape at $350. I want/wanted it pretty badly, but I am rather frustrated with dealing with this particular shop, regardless of their great prices and selections. The staff has been professional and in all my visits there I have always been treated well. However I am tired of making two trips for every purchase. Opinions?
  3. Per Harry Turtledove they chose the AK. And they were taught how to manufacture the ammunition as well. The North tried to reverse engineer it, but they were too slow in development and the South won.
  4. I have to admit I am impressed. That looks like a lot of fun.
  5. I built one at that price point last year with a PTAC upper. That is a good price.   Almost worth buying another just to have.    Which is what I said about my last one.
  6. They regularly have forklifts in them in their first life, a tractor is not a concern.   If I had land, I would have a few.   Alas, one would not breed friendly neighbors in the suburbs.
  7. I heard even worse from a friend that paid for him and his parents to be in the VIP section. They ran out of food, drinks etc. That were all supposed to be paid for. How do you run out of things like that for a 'paid' section where you have a limited number of seats? He said the VIP section was 25% full.   He was not pleased at all with the planning.
  8. Regardless of your feelings in this matter, giving out his cell # is bad form.
  9. I suppose that makes sense. But I suppose part of the misunderstanding is that I can't comprehend not associating the skull with anything other than the comic book character first, and anything/one else second.   It should also be noted that I am not a comic book/movie person.  I just automatically associate the skull with the character and his attitude. Which is why I am certain that most people gravitate to it.
  10. I have no stickers on my cars. Personally I can't stand them.   I also assume when I see a Punisher sticker that someone is a fan of the comic book character, or the idea of the comic book character's vigilantism.    I love when someone/group/etc "borrow" an already pop culture icon, then somehow get offended when someone mistakes it to mean what it originally meant.   That is like wearing a Star Trek shirt because you are a fan of JJ Abrams, but get offended when someone tries to ask you what your favorite Shatner line is.   /rant.
  11. Wouldn't it me more prudent to modify the linkage than cut up an intake?
  12. That was a pretty shady ending.
  13. Seen them often enough in Monroe county to not be surprised when I found one.
  14. That is a topknot, not a man bun.
  15. I wore long hair nearly all my life. Mullets in the '80s and an under cut ponytail in the '90s to full on hair through the `00s. In the `90s I was working my way through conservative southern sewing factories. With bright green hair several inches past my shoulders. As it was undercut, I could pull it up, wrap it up and hide it under a hat. I have never been without a job since I was old enough to get paid to work.   I was working for one factory in Madisonville, I had been there almost a year and we were spreading some nice bright green material. You remember those days when neon camouflage was all the rage? Well it just happened that my hair was the same color as the material we were cutting. So my boss and I were talking and I told him that I really needed to get a pair of the pants after they were done. He asked me why. So I pulled my beat up blue ADIDAS hat off my head (that I still have and wear often, twenty years later,) and let all that glowing green hair fall out from underneath. "Because it matches my hair," was my response.   Sam looks me dead in the eyes and says "I never would have hired you had I seen your hair."   "Of course not, why do you think I kept it tucked up under there for so long?" I responded.   From that day on whenever Sam came close enough to me he would start singing "Sign says green haired freaky people, need not apply..."
  16. Kentucky waives the deductible on windshields, I just had mine repaired with no out of pocket about a month ago. They came and did it in my driveway less than 24 hours after I called my insurance.
  17. Was it the shooter, or his buddy running the camera that lost his leg?   Doesn't change that level of carelessness exhibited, but I am not sure folks are taking into account that two folks were there.
  18. I have long said that is what it would resort to in a ZPAW. That was one of the things I liked about Revolution, only the really powerful had cartridge fed firearms.
  19. My "Go To" AR is a full PSA premium build.
  20. We celebrate 10 years this month, after 15 years or more as friends.   If I could bury her in the backyard and get away with it I, uh... wouldn't.   Cause then who would I tell all my secrets to?   Granted our heathen might help.                         The most important thing is being committed to the concept of forever. Things won't always be great. But it helps to stop and remember that times will be good too. My wife is my best friend, and I couldn't imagine going through life without her. But don't tell my dog that.
  21. I lost a cousin to a 6th or better offense DUI driver.    Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.    If it comes back that this tool was drunk during this altercation, I have zero pity on him. And I venture a guess based on the accomplices, and the extensive records of them all, for DUI, that he was in fact under the influence of something more than caffeine and nicotine.   If he was 100% sober and deacon of the local church on his way home from feeding the homeless, I might be able to drag out some pity. Maybe. Guilty is as guilty does. You run, you just forfeited your presumed innocence IMO. It all comes back to your choice of being tried by twelve, or carried out by six. If I am innocent, I am going to put my faith in twelve of my peers.
  22. Are they going to make the furniture available too? That has been the difficult to find part in my understanding.
  23. They do a show on Animal Planet about odd best friends, dogs and goats, cats and monkeys, goats and fawns, etc. I always get a kick out of it.
  24. Yeah, but for a computer that get 10 minutes of use a month, anything is a waste.
  25. I have an older ASUS Netbook that I have set up to dual boot Win 7 and Bodhi. It is a pretty solid fall back even for a weaker computer. If it weren't for being an absurd investment, I would get a SSD drive for it to see how quick I can make it. As it is though, the tablets in my family get more use than the computers. Tablets are the future IMO.
