I am leaning toward a Biltwell HB seat, I like the looks and it seems I can sit where I want without being 'forced' into a position. Here she is this morning after she got here.

She got here today, I will post some pics in a bit. It has been storming all day, but I did get about an hour in between showers. I got a couple of miles on her. I have a lot to learn, but looking where I want to go, and letting my body do the rest really worked. She handles nicely. I need the most work on starting and stopping. I am ordering the forward controls tonight, as picking my feet up for the mid mounts just feels so unnatural and uncomfortable. I think I will order a seat as well, because the stock seat keeps my too far forward and squishes my jiggly bits. If I sit all the way back on the seat, at the top of the hump, I am a bit more comfortable but still cramped. I guess that is what they mean when they talk about a big guy (even though I am skinny) on a little bike.

Part lab part pit girl pup free to good home
Murgatroy replied to Dustbuster's topic in General Chat
That is great to hear. Bandit has similar lineage, but with more Lab. I got here from here on the board almost three years ago now. She is hands down on the most intelligent animals I have ever met. It is amazing for her size how compact and muscular she is. The Lab/Pit mix is a very interesting breed with no downsides that I have found. -
I am a modifier. I have a conglomeration of parts in the garage I call Chaos. She is a collaboration of about fifteen years worth of twenty different cars. The bike will live next to her. Being it is a Harley-Davidson, the aftermarket is endless, that that is very appealing to me. I am a slow mover, so I have literally spent the last three years testing the waters and researching this purchase. I spent an equitable amount of time doing the same before my Mustang came to live with me. I already have a pretty solid idea of what I am going to do to the bike and where it will be when I am done. I bought the Denim Charcoal as everyone else gets the Denim Black. I can go matte black if I want to with a couple of cans of Plasti-Dip. And I will. It will match Chaos who is satin black. But I can go back to Denim Charcoal at will, which is the less common color in the common sea of Sporties. My goal is Sunday rides in the country. I live in the country so this is going to be a short commute for me. I will become more intimate with the county in which I live. Overall I am thrilled. My daughter is excited about it, she loves to turn wrenches with her father. My wife is not excited, but she has grudgingly admitted that as hard as I work to provide and sustain, this is a due reward. She still doesn't like it.

I already have an armored leather jacket. The issue is that I have lost a lot of weight in the last month. I wasn't a big guy to begin with, So yesterday I bought a new one. It is a mesh Harley-Davidson branded jacket with light armor. I have a full face helmet, even though Kentucky doesn't have a helmet law, I will still wear one. My heavy jacket is too big now, by a fair bit. The one I bought last night fits great. I don't think I have bought something in a medium size since I was about ten years old. So that was new. The big thing I run into is, is since we moved up here for work several years ago, with a company I don't work for anymore, we never really made friends. I have my acquaintances from DPSG that I talk to on occasion, and I have more acquaintances from Dauenhauer where I am now. I also have some acquaintances at Domino's where I deliver pizza once a month (and the half price employee discount makes it all worthwhile.) But I don't really have anyone out side of work. I know how cliche it is, but I bought a Harley for two reasons. I wanted a Sportster Iron because it looks awesome, and I wanted to be part of a 'family.' The local dealership hosts events nearly every Saturday. I bought my bike during a cookout with a live band. There are several local riding clubs as well that get together on a weekly basis and use the local dealership as there starting place. In addition several of my coworkers at both current jobs ride. And most of them ride H-D. So I know there is a lot of hate toward the H-D 'branded lifestyle,' which is the biggest reason I bought the jacket with the name on it. I have a couple of friends on my other board I have been on for almost two decades now that absolutely hate H-D. But it is my bike. Not theirs.

I have ridden, but not extensively. I might have 50 miles under my belt.

I know we have several cats that ride on here. I just jumped in head first and bought a Harley-Davidson 883 Iron this afternoon. I am kinda excited. I will go next week to get my permit and start the process of teaching myself to ride. Taking an MSF course is at the top of the list, but I was told this afternoon that the local course is booked for the rest of the year. I will looks elsewhere but in the meantime, anyone have any tips and advice? I have a large abandoned parkinglot just outside of my subdivision. I am good with most low speed maneuvers, figure eights, etc. I just haven't been out on the road at speeds about 35mph. I get the whole counter steering thing and leaning with the bike. Oh, and of course I bought the obligatory Harley-Davidson branded jacket and a t-shirt for everyone in the family. I didn't however get the branded socks.

If she didn't have it expunged odds are good it is still on there.

If you could only have one gun, what would it be?

My Rossi Overland Coach Gun. In 12ga of course. -
I have a neighbor that takes in feral cats. I can't believe that the neighborhood still has rabbits, but we do. There is a local shelter that does their spay/neuter at no cost. If you asked around locally, you might be able to find one. I understand not wanting to have them around, but if you don't want to SSS it is the humane solution. Or the ASPCA. As it is the legal version of SSS. Myself, I don't know that I could do it, as I am an animal lover, but it does burn me up when someone isn't responsible enough to maintain their own pet population. Speaking of, I have a kitten that needs to be gelded...

We just got home from her second meet. She got to sight in her new .22 target rifle last weekend. It was hot and she was tired. She wanted to roll through the stances and not continue prone, so we got a semi solid zero on it and called it a day. This week was the Fleming County Invitational. Her first meet with her new left handed .22 Target and .22 Sport rifles. She took 3rd in .22 Target Individual and 1st in .22 Target Team. I will try and get pictures up when we get the trophies on Tuesday. I am BEYOND thrilled with her, and she could not be more excited. Her mother is concerned as the eventuality of logic states that she will go to a match and not place, but so far we are two out of two. The upside though is that we will definitely be attending the state invitational.

That was a weak exit to be sure. Not gonna miss you. Sent from my SPH-L710T using Tapatalk -
I am in a minority here. I can't really think of anything to thank my parents for without being facetious. So with that in mind I can honestly say that my parents taught me what kind of parent not to be.

You are off base. Denied is denied. You can appeal, but that doesn't automatically mean you are good to go. If a convicted rapist pops on a background check, they don't just give him his gun in fifteen days. he was denied. A delay is another matter. If you are delayed or receive a conditional you will be given the go ahead after a few days, or the FFL can transfer the firearm at his discretion after a certain period of time. My advice is to reach out the the TBI and see what really popped you, not what you think popped you. It could be the two years of unpaid fines led to a bench warrant, meaning for the last two years you have been a fugitive from justice. It could be that the fines being paid haven't posted. I would ask for a refund from the FFL and check on cleaning up my background. But I am not a lawyer, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. There are some sharp cats on the board and I am certain they will be along in time to quote chapter and verse of TCA as to why you were denied and how to fix it.

After we bought our house last summer the wife talked me into getting a grill. Now it is rather shameful to admit, but I had minimal prior grilling experience. I have spent nearly every Sunday since March (and several Saturdays, a few Fridays and even a Thursday or two) grilling out. We have done pork chops, pork roasts, cod wrapped in cedar, hamburgers, hotdogs, steak, chicken, a couple of racks of ribs, god knows home much corn, clams, brats, potatoes, sweet potatoes... Hell I have lost count. And I don't know how I lived before this. For the record we use charcoal.

Anything from a name brand will be fine. You aren't pushing massive power to them so you will be alright. Typically you don't want to push too much power to the speakers, not too much speaker for the power. If we were talking subs it would be different. The higher the sensitivity, the better the handle the power offered, the louder they seem. I like Infinity, but without massive power and subs, you don't get a full spectrum of sound. Polk has a good reputation of offering competitive products at a good price. 6x8 is an uncommon Ford/Mazda only size, 5x7s will normally fit. If you can find a plate that will permit round speaker installation of 5.25" speakers you might be happier with the sound reproduction.

If you file the ends of the terminals they will close tighter. Where the bolt goes to tighten it, you file the insides, take an eighth inch off of each side on the inside. That allows the terminal to clamp with a quarter inch more, which should be more than enough. A quick redneck solution is a screw. A woodscrew on one side will tighten her right up. Get you home in a pinch.

I live in Kentucky. It is NICS here, not TICS. I never had an issue with TICS. And the only issues I have had with NICS is with this one store. To be honest, after thinking about it, and visiting their website, they are selling the same pistol for $100 less on the website. Which is $200 less than Cabelas. I could go in to the store and press the issue, but I am thinking of letting it be and keeping my business at the four shops, that while also being much closer, have also treated me well and don't give me issues. It hurts to walk from a good price, but as I have gotten older, I have learned the value of good service.

They invited to me to volunteer and coach, but I am afraid with my work commitments I would not be able to fully commit. They have 8(?) disciplines, and each requires a weekend of training, offered twice a year. It is only $250 for each certification, but I work seven days a week, so being able to be useful would be another matter entirely. My wife is currently stepping up and filling in as the coordinator, so we at least have one member of the family volunteering.

Proud doesn't even begin to describe it. She and I have always had fun shooting. Her mother accepts it, but doesn't participate much. We did the soccer thing for several years, but she didn't enjoy it. As soon as she was eligible for this she asked to join. The idea is to help her with her concentration, patience and attention. She is amazing when she has the rifle in her hands. There were several hundred kids at the competition Saturday. The coaches had stated several times that they expected her to place, but when I saw the sheer number of competitors, I wasn't as certain. She however was. She had a lot of fun. Some of the alumni of the county team have gone on to the UK Shooting Team, which is now the Heathen's goal.

So it is no secret that my heathen was raised around guns. She has been shooting since she was four years old. She started with a single shot bolt action .22 rimfire rifle and has progressed to where she can and does shoot an AR at the range. As she turned 9 last year she was eligible for 4H Shooting Sports this season. We signed her up and her first practice was in April. At her very first practice her coach inquired as to her experience shooting. I explained that she had a handful of years under her and I hoped he didn't have to unteach too much of what I had taught her. To my mild surprise he stated that she was a pure natural and asked if she would be interested in shooting the first match of the season, less than two months away. The Heathen is right handed, but left eye dominant. I have raised her to shoot left handed rifle. I am also cross dominant and it has never hindered me to shoot off-hand to my dominant eye. The coaches embraced this and let her do her own thing. They are all very impressed with her. They call her a natural and have been teaching her on Target Air Rifle, Sport Air Rifle, Target .22 and Sport .22. She also shoots archery. With a recurve. Nearly alone in that discipline as nearly everyone else shoots compound (bare, hunting and target.) The coaches are awesome, and have gone as far as to special order her a left handed Target Air Rifle and a left handed Target .22. They have that much faith in her talent. And on to that talent. Saturday was a dreary rainy day in Kentucky. But it didn't stop her. It was her first competition with less than two months experience on a Target Air Rifle. She placed 3rd. We are beyond thrilled.
