  1. Belt alignment and tension are the first things I think of.
  2. PBS should be HDOTA everywhere. If you can grab as PBS station.
  3. I am not sure I like the whole modifying the magazine part.
  4. Totally off topic, but I pictured you as much older.
  5. I think a lot of folks fall into this fallacy that women 'need' a wheel gun. After all it eliminates the racking of a slide. I bought my eleven year old daughter a S&W MP22 for her birthday. She can work the slide, load the magazine and clear malfunctions all on her own, and give her old man a run for his money on Battleship. Now, if she wants a wheel gun, like men want new guns, more power to her. Let her try several out. See if folks from here can take her out and show her a few, or rent them. I have several single actions, and I LOVE them. I have a double action snubbie and I like it too. However at the end of the day, it is nearly always my Glock 19 that does what I want it to do because I trust it. To the point of having multiples of it. If she wants a new gun, she wants a new gun, that is awesome. If she wants a separate gun, not new, not different, SEPARATE gun from her carry piece for a nightstand gun, get her the same thing she carries. For the record my carry gun is a Glock 19 loaded with Winchester Ranger 127gr +P+. My nightstand gun is a Glock 19 loaded with Winchester Ranger 127gr +P+.
  6. It is a 5.11 Tactical light I picked up at Academy for $20. I needed a small form factor light to fit in my pocket. It feeds off of two AAA batteries. I have a pair of Ozark Trail lights from Wal-Mart, and honestly, I swear by them. However I don't always remember to grab one of those from the truck, and my phone is not the handiest of lights. The light is similar sized to my knives and fits flat in a pocket. The Ozark Trial lights, which I CAN NOT SAY ENOUGH GOOD ABOUT are priced at ~$20 a pop and are not suitable for pocket carry, but at four and six AA batteries, with a 350 and 600 lumens output respectively, I love them. They are aluminum and have taken a serious beating. Dropped down flights of stairs, hit by machines, etc, and they still work like a clock. http://www.511tactical.com/tpt-edc-flashlight.html https://www.walmart.com/ip/Ozark-Trail-Flashlight-350-Lumens/49840409 https://www.walmart.com/ip/Ozark-Trail-Flashlight-600-Lumens/51053343
  7. I think the first time I saw an ad like this it was a pretty nifty sell. However at least three to four times a year (ten times more if you count the poorly written ones) a similar ad pops up as if the seller were somehow original. To me anymore (and I have bought and sold hundreds of times on CL) it is turn off anymore when I find an ad like this.
  8. My job has me in some pretty unsavory things. Things that outside of work and gloves, you just don't want to handle your tools if you don't have to. For many years I have carried a Kershaw Tanto Blur semi-serrated knife. It is a great knife, that I got at a great price second hand. I have filed the tip down to create a prying tool, which I use daily. For some, the idea might be cringeworthy, but as I use it daily, it made sense to me in my work environment. Using it daily, it is now considered a 'dirty' knife. Meaning it is not safe for common household chores. This leads to not having a 'clean' knife for EDC when not at work. I have a Benchmade Type 44 that I have carried for a couple of decades (up until it was retired for the Blur,) however, given that the knife is literally irreplaceable, I needed a new knife. I set out today to buy one, and I had been considering just grabbing another Kershaw Blur. To the point of adding it to my cart on Amazon at least three times before changing my mind. I was at Cabelas perusing the Benchmade offerings when for a rare occasion, someone offered some help at the knife counter. I asked to see a Mini-Barrage in the satin finish. It was over. The form factor is close enough, assisted opening from a thumbstud. Closing is obviously different, and it is only able to be carried tip up. So I changed the orientation on my Blur to keep commonality, but I will have to reteach myself to draw from tip up. Overall, it snaps open with serious authority, it razor sharp, and being a Benchmade, I know it is a solid knife. Here are the two of them together along with my EDC 'clean' flashlight.
  9. 9mm capacity > .45acp stopping power and antiquated delivery method. Everyone knows the Glock 19 is so much better than the 1911, they could drop the 11...
  10. My local dealership treats me well. I am waiting on a call when the Street Bob hits the floor for a test ride. I am honestly a huge a Sportster fan. My `16 Iron is an awesome bike. I understand that for some, there is prestige to owning something bigger and more powerful, but man, that little 883cc has some heart. It is a double edged sword for manufacturer and consumer as well. Lets be honest, if you are in the cruiser market, you want a Harley. Sure the Yamaha might be better engineered, or the Honda have a better service schedule, but they are all based on the bones of a Harley. The problem is that a Harley, new, is easily a 25% premium for older, more outdated technology. BUT, it comes with the name and prestige of being a H-D. I for one am watching with great interest in what Indian does in the next few years. Polaris made a shrewd decision killing off the Victory brand to focus on Indian, and I am among those that thing it was a very good decision. Even if I did think the Victory Bagger line was one of the most innovative looking bikes of the last ten years.
  11. Not really, the Street Bob as a Dyna started at around $13,200. As a Softail the Street Bob starts at $13,999. Prices are off the top of my head since I am too lazy to open a tab and go to H-Ds website and see the prices on `17 and `18 models, which are listed. That is not a big price difference, if the changes are really as good as they are claiming. The Sportster line-up starts around the $7,900 mark, which makes them more affordable. The problem is that the Streets start at something silly like $6,900, for a 500cc bike. Meaning that the Japanese bikes of larger displacement, for a lower MSRP, are more appealing to someone that doesn't have to have the H-D name on the tank.
  12. I believe there are far more than just two political groups. However I think that the argument gets everyone lumped into either us or them. I identify as a conservative. However in reality I am very liberal. I believe that the government should not tell me who to love or how to spend my money. I believe that the government should not tell me what I can say or what I can own. I believe that EVERYONE in life has the ability to make their own choices, and live with the consequences of those choices. That should be done with no input, or cajoling from someone who was not in those shoes at the time that decision was made. I might be wrong, but I don't think I am. I think there are many others like myself on the site who prefer to stay out of the discussions due to an Us vs. Them mentality. Burn me now if you must. I am a gun toting, pro-choice, fiscally conservative, LBGTQ supporting, morally strong, happily married parent of an extraordinary child who owns his own home, works with his hands everyday and pays his taxes, bills and student loans. But above all, I am an American. I believe that America, and Americans can be whatever they want. But dammit, not if we keep fighting among ourselves trying to force everyone to think the same way.
  13. I was reading an article that stated all crimes are punishable to double the standard terms during a crisis as declared by the Governor. Meaning that looters could potentially be facing life in prison. Not that I think they would actually be sentenced, but it is fun to think about.

    Glock Gen5.

I have been shooting the Gen 3s for years, the 'ledge' on the trigger is something I don't even think about anymore. The Gen 5 was smoother, and the 'ledge' was much less noticeable. Honestly I didn't like it. However, for someone that isn't used to the older trigger, or doesn't have thousands and thousands of rounds through one, I am sure they would much prefer the newer iteration.

    Glock Gen5.

I am certain I am in the majority here, albeit a Glock fan. I would be loathe to take a Dremel to on of my beloved guns, even if it made it better. One for the fact of essentially ruining it, and the second, it would be impossible to sell. Stippled guns are so hideous in my opinion. I go back and forth on my comfort level with the finger grooves on the G19 (they don't bother me at all on the G17) but in the end, I can rapid fire multiple magazines into a 3" group at 20yds with either of my G19s. That is beyond capable. I don't even hesitate to trust them.
  16. Glad I have a company vehicle and a gas card. What is the price of gas lately?
  17. On my Celica have have a pair of Celicatech Stickers on either quarter window. I have no stickers on my Mustang, Sportster or Work Van. That includes dealer stickers/plate frames. Celicatech is a family (for orphans like me) that has paid to get members back on the road after catastrophes, including Chaos, my own Celica. So in the sense of I won't wear a label unless they are sponsoring me, Celicatech has sponsored me, and a dozen other Celicas.

    Glock Gen5.

I have a pair of Gen 3 G19s. I keep them in separate rooms so they don't find out about one another. I lie to them and tell them they are the only mag wells the magazines have ever been in. They don't even know they share holsters.

    Glock Gen5.

I fondled a Gen 5 G19 today, and I didn't care for the trigger as much as my Gen 3 G19. It felt good though.
  20. My wife has never seen BB from end to end, which I think is a sin. It is one of my most quoted films of all time, second only to The Fast and the Furious, or maybe Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man. "Go $%^& up a bear's @$$!" Does that look like the work of dilettantes to you?
  21. We did the State Fair up here last weekend. The rowdy crowd started around 8pm. We left at 10pm, but my head was on a swivel. I was unarmed, and if it weren't for the kind lady with the very cheap rum in her super expensive Pina Coladas, I never would have made it. There was nothing to deter me, had I been carrying, it was a classic case of 'concealed means concealed.'
  22. The FXR was a great bike. I have been avidly searching for one. However, the Dyna will outhandle a Softail any day of the week.
  23. When the H-D Street first came out, I was highly impressed, not with the bike (my kness sit well above the tank) but with the path H-D was willing to take. It was a low CC (for H-D) water cooled bike. You know, the same thing Honda, Yamaha and Kawasaki had made for decades. I hoped it would be a hit, because it and it's brethren are the future of motorcycling. The Street Rod makes more power than anything in the Sportster line, and is lower priced than most as well. If it had rearsets, I truly would be interested in one. I went today to a dealer and they escorted me into the back where the new bikes were being uncrated. I saw a Fat Bob, a Fat Boy and a Heritage. The Street Bob is the one I am interested in. I am not comfortable on a Big Twin. I broke my hip twenty years ago, and as open as I am making myself here... something as big as the BT gas tanks between my legs is uncomfortable. I am hoping that the Street Bob with it's new smaller tank is narrower. I really want a Dyna Low Rider S, but it is uncomfortable for me with it's width. Honestly I am totally satisfied with my Sporty and I doubt I will get a new bike, but it is always good to shop the field.
  24. I want a nice tailored suit just so I can scare people. But it might get bugs on it from my bike.
  25. Congratulations! After watching my father, stepfather and both grandfathers serve, I chose not to. I regret it, however life eliminated me from that path not long after I chose not to go.
