In an `81 Camaro I was coming home from work one day when I seized the pinion gear, snapped both c-clips and puked both axles out of the housing at around 75MPH on Pellissippi at 8am one morning coming home from work. A couple of years later, I had an `87 Camaro that my girlfriend curbed, and didn't tell me, she snapped two studs on the passenger side. That night coming home from work I got horrible hub slap, stopped and checked and I had one stud left. Luckily Indianapolis has 24 hour parts stores, and I got the pleasure of replacing all five studs at 2am in a parking lot in the middle of December. The simplest of issues though was when I was a kid, I was coming down Coker Creek Mountain outside of Tellico, I looked in the rearview mirror and saw the driveshaft of my `77 Chevy C10 tumbling down the road behind me. My bearing at the rear end had worn down enough to lose the caps, affording the driveshaft enoug room to fall out, slide out of the tranny and go for a walk. That one was easy to stop. I drive Toyotas now. But man, I still love a Chevy.

The above doesn't apply to the Foreman. A check of Tennessee law later showed the same challenge had been made in 1983 and shot down by the Tennessee Court of Appeals, which ruled there are no term limits on a grand jury foreperson. Also see here where the United States Grand Jury Institute has revealed that nothing wrong was committed and the judge was well within his rights to appoint the same foreman for longer than a two year period. However, they go on to point out that it is their opinion that the jury has been tainted. And it questions the legitimacy of the grand jury in Monroe County.

No one ever really cared for Sweetwater, it was too far out to be considered in the same place as Vonore, Madisonville, Tellico or even Coker Creek. Now that is a good step back in time there.

It is my understanding that the Grand Jury Foreman, who doesn't sit on the 12 man jury is an appointed position, and as such is not limited to a term. It is also my understanding that LCDR Fitzpatrick had been informed of this. I think the most damning evidence against him is that one of his accomplices made a statement along the lines of 'we are going to go in and take over the courthouse with force and make them do what we want,' paraphrasing of course. Again, I haven't lived in Monroe County in a very long time, but most of my family is still there and I visit from time to time.

In a nutshell. Most of the folks I grew up with are either dead or in prison.

Sweetwater, Madisonville, Vonore and Tellico Plains. It is a step back in time. In more ways than one. Is it corrupt? Well... I have no opinion on the matter, other than to say that I have seen things that don't add up. Never did. I never asked either. For the record, I grew up in Tellico Plains, spent a lot of time all over the county. I moved away at 21, and haven't been back but a handful of times in the many years since. Beautiful place, I just didn't care for a lot of the goings ons.

Good question, and I have nothing to add other than to say I am interested as well. I await responses.

The Right to Hunt and fish? It is over 500k now, so it is in.

I have a Rossi Coach Gun, double triggers, exposed working hammers. 20" barrel. It has been in my family for 30 years or more. It has been reliable, and frankly, I wouldn't trade it for the world. It has served as HD for ages. It has been supplanted by a NEF Pardner Protector Pump, but I wouldn't hesitate for a moment to pull it out and use it again. I shoot it regularly, and while it kicks like a mule, it hits what it is aimed at.

Or if you do, don't come back and tell us, just make something up about how you lost the job. Seriously though, good luck and grats on finding gainful employment.

That was my first thought, use some c-clamps to create a straight edge. Learned that is shop back in school.

I had not heard it was illegal to shoot a pet. Can you share some information on this? I have in the past removed nuisance strays in this manner. I would hate to think that it was illegal. While I agree that shooting someone's pet without permission should be a crime, I don't think that putting your own pet down when that time comes should be a crime. Then again my wife just told me that it could be considered Animal Cruelty, so I guess I could see it. However, I don't agree with that. Now, with that said, let me explain that I love all of my pets, and I treat them very well. Always have. None of my animals have ever suffered. And to me, that is an emotional thing. However, if the choice is a $200 vet bill for the animal to be euthanized, or a $.20 round from a loved one, the results are the same, and the pet, which is a member of my family, will be buried in my yard, regardless of the method.

It was pretty good. I liked how the director shared the sensory (sight and sound) of the character with us. There are two scenes that stand out, but there were many other moments that worked well. I am a huge fan of zombie films. Romero is my favorite. The whole idea of man vs nature (zombies) with the social element thrown in is what I enjoy the most. Anyone can make a zombie film where the characters run and kill and eventually 'escape.' That is why films like 28 Days, Romero's collection and other's stand out. It is not the acting, as even subpar actors can create a good film, it is the elements of survival that go into it. Sure, you will run from zombies, but what then? You can't run forever. That is why I like a little substance in my zombie films. I have high hopes for this show, AMC has created some good shows.

I am on the couch waiting.

I lived in Indianapolis for several years, Fountain Square. I hated it there. I lasted long enough to make it through school then I brought my happy ass back home to Tennessee. No one can drive, the weather sucks (I don't think it ever got above 80* there) the roads are horrible, the entire State is in disrepair and all the people are rude and callous. I don't really have any fond memories of Indy. I made some good friends, but they didn't outweigh all the bad. I am glad I am home, and I don't really harbor thoughts of leaving again.

I would love to have and SVD. I would settle for a PSL though.

Good read. It would do my wife well to read this, but then again, I think I might be more paranoid than her.

Nastiness. I hope everyone was okay.

I like it. I have decided on BCM for when I build my own EBR.

I just worry about her with a shotgun. She is versed in firearm use. She doesn't like them, but she doesn't like to be without them. She has my Remington Nylon 66 right now, well, it is communal property to be more precise, it was hers, she gave it to my wife, but we gave it back to her, since she has had it for a long time and it is the gun she is most comfortable with. I have tried and tried to convince her that she needs something a little more potent than a .22LR. However, I think I may be barking up the wrong tree. At least it is something she knows how to use and will use. I just don't feel comfortable with her having a .22LR for HD. Which is why I gave her the Jennings. At least one shot of .380 is better than one shot of .22LR, right? For years our go to gun was a 20" Rossi Coach gun. I have it in my closet now. It is a hoss. I just didn't feel it was right for her to use. With her size and health, I have a feeling it would do as much damage to her as an intruder. I don't know. I may just be over thinking it, and feeling a little bit of guilt leaving her with a Jennings. She doesn't even have it anymore. I was just pondering the idea of grabbing her something decent. Honestly, after thinking and looking, the Smiths from JG may be a decent investment for her.

Then all told I have probably logged around 80k this year. A little up from last year, but I have made several road trips.
-
Just one vehicle, or all the vehicles I drive? My daily driver has seen maybe 5k this year. My work vehicles have seen probably 60k this year.

Very valid points, and the quality is going to be much better as well. This might be an option. I don't know why, but I have always had a hard time with .38SPL chambered firearms, when there is the option of a .357Mag which will offer more versatility. This might be something I have to get over in this situation.
