  1. Being born in Washington State while my father served in the Navy, I have always considered myself a Southerner, and a Tennessean as both of my parents were born and raised in West Tennessee. As were their parents and their parents before them. Where they came from before that doesn't really matter. We didn't move back to Tennessee until my father retired. I was ten at the time. I spent a bit of time confused of course, as most transplanted Brats do when they return to 'home.' But I'll be damned if am not a Tennessean at this point in my life. No matter where I have moved (I have left state three times in twenty years) I have always returned home. My children have all been born here. And if I have my way about it, I will be buried here. There are a lot of opinions about what defines a Yankee, and what defines a Southerner, but most importantly it is attitude. And Yankees sure do have that.
  2. Cat was my first thought as well.
  3. I have several of the KCI mags for my 19. They work great. You can get them from Cheaper than Dirt for $5 a mag. You can't really go wrong at $5 a mag.
  4. At a little over $10 and change a box of 50, I have yet to find anyone that can beat Wal-Mart's price on Federal 115gr FMJ.
  5. I read somewhere that the real reason it wasn't picked up for a second season is because of her political ambitions. She was worried that if she had the show going she would be less able to focus on her campaign, and TLC was worried that they would have to have a show for all candidates.
  6. Just a couple of inches inside Knoxville, but the snow is packed enough to have shut down work.
  7. I am proud of him. Now I am worried all the cry babies out there are gonna go after him. We need more parents like him. That is how I was raised and for all intents and purposes, I turned out fine.
  8. Kubrick, yes, Lynch... well, I find them more like a book with the pages out of order. A book that wasn't that good to begin with. You wind up thinking about it for a couple of days to get your mind wrapped all around it, then you wonder why you bothered.
  9. Wrong carbonated beverage for me.
  10. I enjoy Jason Statham's films.
  11. Have her hold the gun close to her chest. Strong hand on the grip, weak hand on the slide. Have the weak hand hold the slide stationary, while the strong hand pushes the frame of the pistol to rack the slide. This works for my mother. Another option is to hold the pistol strong hand with the arm nearly extended to full length, grasp the slide weak hand and while pulling back on the slide, again push forward with the strong hand. This method would allow her to keep the muzzle down range without having to stand to her side.
  12. The 80s were just as bad...
  13. Incorrect. I have GPS in the handhelds the drivers use, not their Nextels. It is the salesmen I have the GPS on their Nextels. I found it pointless to activate the GPS on the driver's Nextels as the trucks are wired with GPS as well as the handhelds. I am Big Brother. However we use it to ensure they are being paid proper mileage (not over or under) as well as to ensure they are visiting accounts like they are supposed to. It is all in company provided equipment, and they sign agreements when the equipment is issued to them. If this were to happen to my personal phone, I would find a way to uninstall it, and if an issue were made, I would seek legal counsel.
  14. The Tea Bagging at the end was the best part.
  15. The only two Glocks I have handled are a 19 and a 30. I own the 19 and a buddy owns the 30. The 30 feels about the same size (if thicker) than the 19. Recoil is very manageable. However, I still prefer the 19, and it costs about half as much to shoot.
  16. Sad to hear. My own Telemechus, a Maine Coon was with me for seventeen years. She came into my life when I was two, and she left when I was nineteen. I focus on the memories and the good times. Having been raised with animals my entire life, I have made sure that my children were as well. Right or wrong, I think that it teaches compassion, knowing that you have a being that is completely dependent on you for survival. Although a cat would never let you believe that.
  17. My first thought. I remember doing it as a kid. I don't know where it originated but it always accompanied the cry of "Nah Nah Na Boo Boo, You Can't Catch Me!"
  18. It happens. As mentioned above the can will deteriorate over time and develop holes. You may never notice the holes, but they are there and the beverage will evaporate. I see it all the time. But then again, I am in the beverage business. It is even worse with diet drinks.
  19. When I was younger I had a gig with a logging crew. That was one of the multiple things I learned at the time. That was how most of our food was heated and cooked.
  20. You won't find a lot of guys that hate to hard on the Hi-Point Carbine. The handguns, well, maybe. I have a soft spot in my heart for the carbine, and would love one in 9mm.

    Flag Stores

I have bought flags from Greene's before. It has been several years, but they had a large rack that you had to sort through, similar to a poster rack. They had something like 50 flags last I recall.
  22. Talk to her first. A dog is a big commitment as you have noted. However, if you have previously 'talked' about it and thought it would be a good idea and you are both keen on the idea, surprise her.
  23. I would be interested in seeing a completely filled version. I don't know if I like it, but I am interested.
  24. For that price you could buy a LWD Glock Lower that uses off the shelf uppers and is full compatible with other AR parts. I don't really care for the looks of this carbine.
  25. Only two current characters exist in the current timeline of the graphic novels. The novels are a year or so ahead of the series.
