  1. My experience with sportsterized M44s is that they aren't as accurate. Removing the bayonet screws with the barrel and causes them to wander. I have a bone stock early M44, buddy of mine has a sporsterized version, removed bayonet, complete with scout scope. I can consistently outshoot that rifle at 100yds (either shooter) with my factory M44 and iron sights. Just me, but I wouldn't touch a sportserized M44. Even for just a knock around gun. A 91/30 maybe, maybe even an M38. But once you take that bayonet off an M44, I can't find a use for it.
  2. I am gonna have to call BS on this. I googled it and found two lists that both list the FN FiveSeven as the number one. Several lists that didn't list it at all though. My issue with that lists is that both lists didn't list any facts or reasons as to why they chose the pistol. To me it just seemed like fanbois looking at pretty guns and choosing. While I have no experience with the FiveSeven, and I would like to shoot one, I can't see it being a top ten contender given that it is essentially shoots a hopped up .22WMR. If I had a PS90, I think it would be fun to have a FiveSeven. But the ammo is scarce, rather expensive (I mostly shoot .22LR, 9mm and Russian Surplus calibers) and not enough to knock my socks off right now. Maybe if it had several lucrative police or armed forces backing it up, I would think harder on it. That is just me though. Edit: I could be slightly mistaken, they do seem to have a larger than average following for such a new pistol. The Secret Service, among many others, use them.

I have never felt inadequate with 9mm.
  4. I am loving the multiplayer in the game. Probably the most fun I have had in a FPS in a long time. The conquest is awesome.
  5. Ditto. Kinda defeats the purpose of a Glock IMO.
  6. I am pretty sure I was in a game with you the night it came out. Skirmish mode. XBL: Murgatroy
  7. I got it as well. I wonder where they got their mailing list from.
  8. I hope he lived a full life, and it sounds like he did. RIP Having been active on forums/chat rooms for over fifteen years, there are many folks that I have chatted with and then met in person. Some in passing, maybe just a lunch. Others whom have become near and dear to me (such as my wife.) It is perplexing when a member become a part of an online community, then vanishes. I know that life comes and priorities change, but it still leads me to wonder what happened and where they went in life. I don't know, but for me, it gives a sense of closure and of family/friend to have someone reach out and inform the community of a death of a member. For that I feel lucky to be here.

  10. Any other gamers out there pick this up? Before I give my review, I must admit that I am a casual gamer, and FPS games are not my forte. With that said, I am enjoying it. I have played through a couple of the levels on single player, and I am liking the setting. Starting out in suburbia is interesting. I have yet to play a game that has it's setting in the US, so that is kinda fun on a grand scale. Some of the scenes at the beginning are meant purely to evoke an emotional response and get you in the mood. It works. One thing I don't care for in a FPS and one of the reasons I often choose not to play them is the lack of character development. So far I haven't seen anything to make this different. The graphics are solid, the gameplay is intuitive if you are used to CoD titles (which made it a blessing for me since CoD:WaW is the only other FPS I have played extensively.) The multiplayer is where this game is shining though. Much like other titles you 'level' your character and this effects what you can use out the gate. You can customize your weapons with sights and grenade launchers, use drones, air attacks and so forth. With only a few hours of play into it, I am pleased and glad that I got it. I have read a few reviews that are kinda down on the game, but honestly I only see this being a problem for min/max players looking for the next ultra realistic super game. If you are just looking for a new flavor of something comfortable this game might be right up your alley.
  11. I would be excited to see this.
  12. I have a Romanian AK, but it isn't a WASR. Mine is a kit gun that was done with a dimpled receiver. The WASRs are probably one of the better deals going right now, as long as you can hold it and inspect it before purchase. Century doesn't have a great reputation for building their kit guns. The WASR is imported as a single stack rifle, the receiver is then ground out to accept the double stack magazine we all know and love. Sometimes it is ground out too much, sometimes not enough. There are also reports of canted sights and canted gasblocks. While these aren't fatal, it can be bothersome to fix. There are a couple of websites out there that will walk you through the process. The stockset is a personal choice. Trust me, you can change it out to nearly whatever you want. There are a couple of other things to take into account, making sure you are 922r compliant, and finding mags that work. I went through a dozen mags before I found the flavor that my gun likes the most. In the end though, if it runs right, it is an AK, and it will continue to run right, even if you use a hammer to work on it and call in mean names.
  13. I ran into several like that. I thought I had found a deal on some Glock 33 rounders till the woman handed them too me, they were some off brand.
  14. It has been twenty years since I took the Hunters Safety Course, but they had us shoot clays, I think we all got three shots, and our choice between 12ga and 20ga. I hit all three of mine. I would suggest knowing a wee bit before going, but even if you don't, they will give you a quick crash course.
  15. There were some decent deals. I am amazed that I walked out of there without one of the 91/30s they were one of the best deals in the place. I was kind of frustrated that all the Nagant Revolvers were ~$200, otherwise I would have picked one up. As it sits I grabbed a gun case, some mags and ammo. I was even impressed that my daughter behaved the whole time and kept her hands to herself. You might have seen me, I was the guy with the four year old enthused with the 'Big Bullet' after she got a dummy .50BMG round.
  16. I love me some good shrimp and grits. Puleo's has some good shrimp and grits here in town. I think I might get some this weekend.
  17. I was rolling. I actually thought he shot the gun in the leg though.
  18. I chuckled quite a bit reading this.
  19. Take your time. I am sure there at least a dozen more threads you can bump up from a couple of years ago for him before he has to pay...
  20. But he doesn't work for Bill's Outpost, or have anything to do with them. He is just a fan...
  21. I have been using a hand held steam cleaner to get cosmoline out of the mil-surp rifles I have bought. It is pressurized and does a seriously great job. I would like to find a good deal on an SKS, kinda wish I had stocked up when you could still find them for under $100...
  22. Tell me, what is crime like in Denmark? Anyone getting murdered? Any gun crimes at all? Now, without your answer, I ask you if the laws are working? I assume you still have crimes, murders and even gun crimes. Even with all those laws. I am so sorry for you.
  23. My favorite though was the horse tackle store that used to be across the street. Mount & Rider. Pure win.
  24. I would like to see an Academy. I was in Dicks the other night and I asked them, the short answer was, they aren't making any money on it, so they shipped it all out to another store. I have found decent prices in there from time to time. I walked out with my Pardner Pump for under $200. But for the most part, they were more expensive.
