  1. Hope it isn't raining, it cleared up pretty nice here in Knoxville. Since I have been accused of being antisocial, I thought I would mention it here before I headed up. I will be the guy in the ratty blue ball cap and desert pattern pants shooting the Commie guns.
  2. Very awesome picture.
  3. I shoot right handed, although I am left handed. For me when I do shoot left handed I never had a problem using my index finger to hit the slide stop.
  4. I bought a rifle last time I went to Chilhowee, one that I had been looking for for some time. I could have sold it ten times before I made it out the door. All I did was carry it.
  5. I speak when I am up there. I don't think I have ever specifically said I frequent here though.
  6. Gonna be there Sunday. I am pretty sure it is groovy to just bring things in to sell, as long as they are unloaded and the like, I see folks there all the time trying to do private sales.
  7. I normally go up on Sundays, around Noon, and I have never seen it completely full.
  8. For years our go to gun for home defense was a coach gun. It has served well in this roll for my father, my mother and for a long time, me. It is compact and comfortable, easy to swing and probably the long gun I have to most experience with period. I love it. A handful of years ago I bought an NEF Pardner Pump Protector, a Chinese knock-off of an 870. It is a great gun, I have put several hundred rounds down range with it, from light birdshot, to high brass buck. It eats it all and doesn't complain. It is now the gun that fills the home defense roll. I keep it filled with #4 Buck and it stays right where I need it. However, if it ever came down to the point where I needed a go to gun for something a little more ambitious than running those damn kids off my grass, I would probably go back the my coach gun. There is something simple and lovely about it. It might not hold as many rounds, but it is faster to reload if you know what you are doing, and you can get that second shot off faster than anything else out there. Mine is a Rossi, 20" barrels and it is still nearly a foot shorter than my NEF with an 18.5" barrel.
  9. It is probably one of those scam sites where you are bidding on the opportunity to buy the item. You win the auction at $100 to get the chance to buy the gun for $1000. I read something on them before, and that is how they work. Try and find the fine print.
  10. That is made of so much win.
  11. What if you log into several different devices? Say for the sake of argument that my daughter watches a movie on the television via the XBOX, I watch a movie on my desktop, my wife watches one on her laptop. The next day I go to work and continue watching the same movie on my netbook, this would be a crime? I think it is kinda bogus. I pay $10 a month for this, and nowhere in the ToS did it tell me I couldn't let my wife and daughter use it as well...
  12. Much like everyone else, I have to disagree with the OP. I saw this earlier and was going to post, but I am at work and otherwise occupied. I think that Kevorkian provided a valuable service. Nothing he did 'forced' folks to decide in either way. It just made it easier if they chose to use his services. Having watched many people that are close to me just waste away after living a very active and fulfilling life (my grandfather who was a great role model, a hell of a soldier and an all around great man comes to mind rather easy) and then being confined to a bed for sometimes years before passing, I find it more dignified to allow someone to go out on their own terms.
  13. I am saying it is GTG, and that the gun will operate without a magazine in place. But as mentioned just below, it is not good for the extractor. The extractor is designed for the round to come up from under it and slide into place, not for the extractor to move around the side of the rim to grip it. It is not something I would let keep me up at night, but it is something to be aware of.
  14. Yes, it can be done. It will fire as well.
  15. Murgatroy My wife and daughter love Netflix. I used to enjoy CoD titles and L4D2.
  16. An old Sears brand single shot break action .410. Still have it. After that I moved up to our Rossi Coach Gun. SxS 12ga. Still have it too.
  17. I went through at least a dozen holsters before I bought my Bladetech IWB kydex holster. I wish I had started with it. I wear it daily now and once you get used to it, you have no clue it is there. Cost me $20 from CTD and I swear by it.
  18. I may have to check him out. I still need to get my daughter's piece.
  19. Good job. Karma is one of the few things I believe in.
  20. That was how I got my first tattoo.
  21. This is the second time I have heard him mentioned. Is he that good?
  22. I really like it. It is different that is for sure, but it looks really good.
  23. I ran into this problem with my mother when we were gun shopping. With double action revolvers, she had difficulty working the trigger. She also had difficulty pulling the hammer. She can rack the slide on my Glock 19 using the methods described above (pushing the frame while holding the slide weak hand) and is pretty confident with that. However, when I bought her a new gun the 19 was a little out of the price range we wanted. After a couple of hours at the gun store, we decided on a S&W Sigma 9mm. The gun gets a bad rap, but for the price, it is a solid little shooter and we haven't had any issues out of it. She can operate it as well as she can my Glock and she is confident with it. Another option that I saw mentioned that I like is the Beretta Tomcat. While the .32ACP isn't as potent as the 9mm, it is still a bullet and it has served well for a while now in it's role. My mother had a Bobcat (the .22LR variant) for years and she was very fond of it.
  24. The other traffic on the road is the main reason I quit riding. My bike has been neglected for the last two years.
