  1. I worked 3rds for a good ten years before I had to dress up and play nice with dayshift. I loved it. I was wired for it. The biggest factor in me taking the promotion to dayshift was so that I could spend time with my daughter. It isn't hard exactly, I normally got home when she woke up so I got to spend a few hours with her then, and I woke up right before she went to bed, so I got to spend a few more hours with her. The hard part was the weekends, cause I would try to stay up all day and then sleep all night, and it always made Monday's rough. To be honest, if I could keep my pay rate and work nights I might be happier. It was a much more laid back way of life.
  2. Well that is a rough part of town. I used to live just up the street from there.

    Good cop

    .
  4. Looks good. Your grouping is just a little tighter than mine was.
  5. He is a winner in my book then.
  6. That is a hike, but I may check him out.
  7. If you would be interested I could let you handle mine. I know it is hard to drop that kind of change on a holster without seeing one in person.
  8. No clue about that side of the state, but welcome aboard. I have a good friend who is a LEO in Jackson.
  9. That is pretty groovy. I have been fighting with myself over picking one of these up or not. The choice of a rifle or pistol is what keeps stumping me.
  10. I haven't had any issues drawing with mine. Once I found the perfect place for it, it was great. You can get a full grip on it, because as you grip it you unlock it. The only reason I changed to an IWB is because that is what I originally wanted. I thought I would like the classy leather look of the Bianchi, but in the end I didn't. I wanted a plain, no frills, no lock IWB kydex holster. I still use my Bianchi on occasion, when I am in slacks and a jacket, much like why I wear my fancy watch. But most days it is the IWB holster and a digital watch.
  11. Welcome to the good side of the state.
  12. And I respect that. What I don't respect are the folks that go all apediddly about this being the best thing ever, and they don't read the books.
  13. They may be the best selling books ever, but they still pale in comparison to the viewers of the films. Easily 100-1.
  14. Thank you for your prompt and concise response! Primitive camping is all the better in my opinion. I hope I can make it to at least one of the courses next year. There are several offered that interest me.
  15. And in all fairness I am a Lord of the Rings fan, but I read all the books cover to cover a dozen times twenty years before the films came out.
  16. I haven't read any of the books. My wife owns them all. I haven't watched any of the movies. My wife will be going to see it alone. The thing that frustrates me with the whole Harry Potter phenomenon is that so many folks have forgotten that they were based on books. More people have watched the movie than have read the books. The series ended four years ago when the book came out. I understand being a fan and wanting to see it on the big screen, but it just bothers me that no one reads or uses their imagination anymore. Alright. Rant is over.
  17. I kinda wish I had seen this sooner. I don't have time to prepare for it now. Couple of questions: Holster, is IWB type acceptable or does it have to be an OWB/pancake style? I have and use both, but I prefer the IWB as that is what I carry 99% of the time. Camping, is this on site? Does it incur extra cost in addition to the class to camp on site? Scheduling, do you have a schedule of future classes so I can adjust my schedule in order to attend, with my schedule a month is not enough time. Thanks! This sounds like fun and is something I am very interested in.
  18. Being and admin on a large forum myself I understand exactly why Mac did what he did. When the intent is to foster community based on a common interest, many times there are other topics that will be discussed. My forum in international, and we have a yearly meet that involves folks from all across the world. A hundred folks from all walks of life with a common interest. A lot of times other common interests will be shared. Sometime they won't. Sometime the feelings will be violently opposite. But the job of the moderators is to ensure that everyone gets along. To moderate the conversations. When a topic comes along that is touchy, it will get folks all riled up. There are several topics that folks feel very passionate about. That is where feelings get hurt and folks get upset. To some, they might look on the staff as being too harsh, too strict. But I understand the need for this, especially when we are a community that many groups stand outside of waiting to tear us to shreds. On my forum, which is based on cars, we are much more laid back and political topics are few and far between. As such I can allow my staff to be much more lenient. However name calling and personal attacks are a real quick way to get a vacation. The point of a discussion forum is to share opinions, ideas, thoughts, experience. However there are several topics that no matter what I say, or what you say, I am not going to change my opinion, and you aren't going to change yours. That is why topics of that matter should be avoided. They are pointless and foolish.
  19. It depends on the gun. I normally take the same complement to the range when I go, sometimes I change it up and I will take my coach gun instead of my pump. My Glock I will shoot a hundred to two hundred rounds out of it. Sometimes more, sometimes less. I have been running different brands of ammo through it of late, just to see if there is anything it doesn't like. There isn't. My M44 I will shoot fifty to a hundred rounds through it. Last time I went I only shot twenty through it because I forgot to put more than one package of rounds on my bag. My AKM, I will shoot as many rounds as I take with me. Last time it was two hundred I suppose, all the magazines I had loaded. It started to have FTF on the last mag. With my shotguns it depends on what I shoot. The coach gun will only get a dozen or so shots, unless I bring the low brass, with the low brass I will shoot a box or two of shells. The pump, well, I like to feed it, since everyone is always down on NEF Pardner Pumps, and at a couple thousand rounds now it fires flawless. Although high brass buck packs a wallop. Now my personal favorite to take to the range has got to be my Heritage Rough Rider. Last trip out I finished off a bulk box of Federal .22LR. Anything under 20yds and it hit exactly point of aim. I bought it just a couple of months ago and I would say it easily has two thousand rounds through it already. It is just so much fun, and cheap to shoot.
  20. Yup, that is the one I have.
  21. A lot of the WASRs are coming without a threaded muzzle or the evil bayonet lug either.
  22. I have a Bianchi finger lock, where you hit the lever with the middle finger. I like it and it functions well, I carried with it for about a year before I got a kydex IWB. If the Bianchi thumb lock version is of similar quality I wouldn't have an issue with it. However I prefer the simplicity of the kydex, it holds securely and offers a full grip from draw.
  23. I think there was a thread about this once before, but it was about a dog, a family dog, putting it down. I forget the laws, but the law was kind of against it. Said that the only time you could shoot a domesticated animal was in defense of livestock. However, feral cats aren't exactly domesticated, and if they are a danger to your domesticated animals, or your live stock. I am sure you are perfectly legal to deal with the problems however you see fit. It is a legally grey area though, and I would be wary of posting on a public forum about what you would do, other than call the ASPCA and have them removed...
  24. My class was normal. Around twenty folks. Mixed gender, mixed ethnicity. Friendly folks, good teacher. I had a good conversation with him during and after class. Even the shooting part went well. The instructor even quipped how we must all be 'serious' as the smallest caliber was a 9x19mm.
  25. That is awesome. I haven't been a huge fan of hers, but this gives her some respect in my eyes.
