  1. It is also a defense if you are lied too. "Are you of age to own this, are you a resident of the state of Tennessee, are you otherwise legally prohibited from owning this?" As long as those questions are answered satisfactorily you are good to go.
  2. That is what I have, a mid `70s model, says "Interarms, Alexandria Va" on it. GREAT gun. It is honestly the last gun I would part with.
  3. I saw one on Classic Arms website the other day.
  4. I cried. I will admit that a lone tear ran down my cheek. That was a powerful moment.

    Ar on a budget

I intend to build a full PSA. Shipped and transferred and you will still be under $550 and an hour or or two of your time. This kit, with an $85 shipped/transferred lower and you are doing well, with quality stuff.
  6. I am transferring mine through CCA, I have done a fair bit of business through them, which is odd, since the very first time I walked in there I got the cold shoulder. I gave them a second chance, and I will have to admit, they have done me right over the last couple of years. I took my HCP there and I shoot there at least once a month. I emailed PSA and CCA after my purchase, I had emails back from both of them in the morning (I ordered on Thanksgiving) telling me that they had me taken care of and they would notify me when my lowers were in. All in all I am impressed so far with how I have been treated. I have never been a high dollar customer, but I have spent some money in there.

    Ar on a budget

The one you build yourself. Otherwise Buds and Academy both have a Bushmaster for $699, that is about as cheap as you will get a decent AR without building it yourself.
  8. That is a good price, did you figure shipping in to that? Anytime I can find 7.62x39mm or 9x19mm for less than $.20 a round I consider it a deal. $.30 or less a round on 5.56x45mm. I always factor shipping though.
  9. Good picture.
  10. Fail. Did you get the Ruger, you never texted me back.
  11. I will probably show up on Saturday, with the wife working I would have to bring my heathen on Friday Night if I were to stay. I don't have much in the way of gear, other than a full compliment of camping supplies in the truck, but that does me no good if I am not camping. I might bring a gun or two. If anyone else is going to show up Saturday, what time are you guys thinking?
  12. Another question, is there any benefit to transferring the lower as a pistol, even though I intend to build a rifle on it?
  13. I think I will stay in black. Evil Black. I kinda dig the MOE stock, but I am fond of the Hogue grip. It is cheaper to buy a complete kit, but then I will have left over parts when I buy other parts to go with it. Overall, I think this is going to be a really fun experience.
  14. It is sometimes hard for people to understand that difference. This is a private site, giving it the same rights as private property.
  15. The last two are the same rifle, a WASR with different furniture. If you want accurate, you want a Saiga or an Arsenal, which is a Saiga that has been converted. Saigas are imported as a sportster. You remove the sportster stock, remove the trigger group, move the trigger group forward, install a handgrip where the trigger group used to be, then you install a bullet guide so they can accept regular AK magazines.
  16. I have a buddy who gets skateboard grip tape to make pads for his Glock 17 that his department issued him. I got some from him and fit it to the pedals in my car.
  17. Round as in the mil-spec ones, or free float? I think it would come down to how much stuff you wanted to hang off the front end of it. The mil-spec handguards are cheaper from what I am seeing. But putting accessories on the front is more difficult than a rail system. Then again, if you don't want to hang anything off of it, the railed handguard might be rough on your hand.
  18. Thanks, I guess I have a little more money to spend before the wife figures out what I am doing...
  19. Also, with all of that said, I have only ever fired an AR platform rifle once, Dolomite Supafly allowed me to shoot a few of his. Is there anything I need to know about the system to make it easier on my decisions to build? Barrel twist, barrel length, etc, or a place to start learning it all? My current midsize rifle is an AK. I punch holes in paper. I want reliable, trustworthy. I am not looking to supplant my Glock for carry or my Shotgun for home defense.
  20. That was the only complaint I had, but it was minor.
  21. It takes a lot to run a forum like this. Knowing that the members are happy and appreciative is always a great pay off. I am impressed with how well the site runs on the new server, and the lack of downtime with the changes.
  22. I just bough a couple of lowers, and now I am hit with the dilemma of how to build them. Having two of them gives me a choice of building two different rifles, or two rifles of the same. I am just looking for a general set of ideas, experience from other member's builds, some resources and the like. I am not concerned about the building process. While I have never done this, and have no experience in gunsmithing, I am an accomplished mechanic, I am very good with my hands, and I have been a scale model enthusiast for nearly thirty years. What specific tools would I need for an AR build? I most likely will be purchasing the upper complete, I am finding some very reasonable prices in pretty much any configuration I could desire. I have always like the look of the A2 upper, and been infatuated with the XM177 style rifle. Having two uppers does mean I can build however I like, but I was also thinking of building one as a dedicated .22LR. Maybe I should have bought three... Or I could just build three uppers... Chime in with opinions please.
  23. Whee, just placed an order for two.
  24. They went down. It is posted on their site as $25, and I was in there a few weeks ago and was personally told $25.
  25. Same here, no PSA ad, but that one for the Optics has come up a million times.
