What Would You Do During a Mall Shooting?
jgrauman replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I read through the pages quickly so not sure if this was brought up, but what are the thoughts in this situation of drawing your weapon while in retreat? i know instinctively i would get down and draw if i heard shots, but what if all of us were in the mall and shots were fired? Imagine turning around and seeing 5 people with drawn guns and not knowing who just fired a shot... just another thought to add to an almost impossible situation. -
that is hilarious! what a freaking fat a$$! i can't believe he actually threw that kid to the ground! having had many run-ins with the law as a teenager of skateboarding i would say that this officer has had his fair share of smart a teens to deal with. he drives around in that little go cart patrolling what looks to be an awesome area to skate. he probably told 30 kids that day to leave and when this one kept skating, he lost it. some of the guys i used to skate with would run, some would stay and argue, i was a stayer and listener. it was always so funny to watch, a grown man of authority engaging in a political debate with a teenager over their right to be there and skate. EVERY officer would end up pissed off and take our information. It never mattered, i think they just enjoyed getting to be officer BA for the day.

honestly after reading his responses this is just a revolving door that i'm not going to be stuck in. And what bulls--- is this? "militia" didn't mean the same thing back then as it does today." He offers no other explanation! A militia is a militia. i CANNOT STAND when people pull quotes out of context and offer no evidence as to the original quote. it's called an Ellipsis, use it if you are going to quote someone, especially when you are doing so to change the entire meaning of the quote so that others who have not read the original quote know that you are pulling it out of context.

I do love the OT vs. NT argument by most libs/antigunners, they use the NT as an example of how christians shouldn't own guns and then just refute the ENTIRE OT. "See? I'm just not another pretty drummer! No protecting ones self." This example he uses in Luke was just bad. Jesus was talking about the persecution of christians and ones willingness to die for His name and their beliefs. I would still die for my beliefs, i would still kill someone who was trying to take my life or a loved ones life for no good reason. I'm not denying my Lord by letting someone shoot me in the head, nor am I denying Him by defending the life He gave me. If Jesus had been in that parking lot with that lady and her daughter while thieves tried to kidnap them would He have just sat there and watched them get raped and killed? Pretty sure He would have stopped it. And yes, even in the NT there were thieves and killers!! Jesus even lost His temper and destroyed property!! (mark 11:15-17) I guess instead of having to refute facts (yes i consider them facts, I believe the Bible, the entire Bible, not just the parts i like) we could just throw out the NT as well or take it with a grain of salt. off topic, i really love the stone to death comment about the OT and adultery, live and let live lib mentality trying to use the NT to overturn the OT again. Jesus said "let he who is without sin cast the first stone," (john 8:7) not, "let everybody do whatever they want, to hell with the consequences." Jesus's point was to not judge others, that is not our job, but his,"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, 'Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,' when you yourself fail to see the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye." Luke 6:41-42 Back on topic, "The words "self-defense" never leaves Jesus's mouth! It's just not there. I checked!" "...Jesus encourages his followers to defend themselves..." i would touch on these two statements, but i'm pretty sure they are just to stupid to even respond to. as for the militia statements, i think we all have beaten that argument to death on here before, but if he's going to say that times have changed, things don't mean the same thing now as they did then, then i will say right back at him, "maybe "militia" didn't mean the same thing back then as it does today." He can't say, "Now what does that mean today? I would assume it would be the national guard." How can one make such a statement? oh okay, if you ASSUME that then that's an excellent bases for an argument... my fault for thinking otherwise... i assume that ashley judd would marry me if only she was graced with my presence, but hell, what do i know...

i mountain bike a lot... i carry while riding the exact same way i do while i'm doing anything else.. IWB. the only difference is i have on bike shorts underneath my cargo shorts that i wear while riding. even if i have a pack on i still carry IWB, it's much easier to get to than unzipping a pack.

from another forum i'm on. A lot of these comments by US citizens scared me. I have only posted twice, trying not to get into a heated debate. it's so hard for me to see others giving up on freedoms for supposed "protection" by our loving government. so sad http://www.yotatech.com/f5/am-i-being-detained-134719/

Just noticed this today, 1074 members! not a bad year here at TGO. This has been a great site and look forward to the next year. It's great to see the growing membership from all over TN including some neighboring states as well as others. Just wanted to say thanks to tungsten for taking the initiative in starting TGO.

the only tvs that will be affected are those without a digital converter. if your tv has the ability to have a digital cable box hooked up, most do, then you are fine, if you have a new tv with a built in converter (FCC required) then you are fine. this entire conversion seems to be intentionally confusing just to get the american public to go upgrade their sets. my grandfather, who doesn't understand any of it, as most senior citizens probably don't, is freaking out that he needs to go buy a new tv. unless you have bunny ears on your set, you are fine. it's not until feb 17, 09 anyway, so no worries

This will probably be my last post on this board for i am breaking a law of a very secret society that has protected this and many other secrets for many, many years. Glocks are not made from "polymer." not any this world has ever seen at least. Some of you may believe in extraterrestrials, some of you may not. But i promise you, they exist! Glocks are made from a polymer that was found at an alien crash site in 1963. During the next 20 years of collecting and developing this polymer, Glock began producing the handgun everyone has come to know as THE GREATEST HANDGUN EVER MADE. Obviously if you do not own a Glock, it is because you are an ignorant fool. Alas, you are one no more. Closet Glock users can be spotted by their use of other brand-specific items. Band-aid, Duracell, Q-tip, and Ford. All of these products come from highly intelligent alien civilizations whom have come to earth seeking commerce between our two societies. This is the reason for their vastly greater quality and durability. I could no longer stand the ignorance of all the Glock bashers out there, so I had to come clean. Forgive me brothers. Obviously i haven't had my coffee this morning

don't know about the stats, but you can always say, "the next time we're at the mall together, i want to be able to defend BOTH our lives." -

i purchased my first xd on research only. it was hard to find one around here at the time so all my research was done online. i read a lot on xdtalk and search many online gun stores until i finally purchased and xd .40 service. from time of interest until purchase was about 10 months. when it finally came in i was extremely pleased. the first day i took her shooting i went with my neighbor who has a glock 19. i won't go into glock bashing here, let me just say i was very glad i went with the xd.

it's been impossible for me to find a good gunsmith in this area. all the local shops seem to have the same guy come pick up any guns brought in for work. and i can't speak well of his work on the TFO's i had him put on my xd.

i've heard that people with smaller hands have a problem keeping the web of their hand in such a position to fully disengage the grip safety. that may have been what he was talking about.

race is definitely playing a part in this case. the homeowners don't want their dog killed so they are trying to put it on the fact that the landscaper may or may not have been an illegal. i don't want to see the dog put down either, but it seems to me that if the woman was standing close enough to be grabbed by the guy then she knew he was there and was probably in conversation with him. it's not like he showed up early, the dogs were in the yard, the woman opened the door and sprinted to save the landscaper and he grabbed her and threw her between the dogs and himself. he was probably standing at the front door talking to the woman with the dog growling behind her or her holding it by the collar, the dog began to advance and he pulled the woman in front of it. my dog is a 100 pound malamute and when the door bell rings she's sitting right next to me. people freak out and she senses that and gets excited and stands up. the person at the door ALWAYS grabs the storm door and tries to close it on me. maybe she didn't have a storm door and he grabbed her arm instead. i'm not saying the guy was right by grabbing her, but people have a responsibility to control their dogs. if mine ever bit somebody that was at my front door in the situation i described i would feel awful about it because it was my fault for not having control over my dog and it would be MY fault if i had to put her down my it's going to be interesting to see what the other side of the story is, if we ever get to hear it.

Difference in National Park Rules?
jgrauman replied to waynesan's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
i got what you were saying i was just poking at the ridiculousness of all these laws. so many "if... then..." it just goes back to the basic argument that we're responsible enough to carry sometimes and not others. -

jgrauman replied to waynesan's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
yeah, i guess that depends on the law you're referring too. the castle doctrine says they are the same thing when it comes to defending them. i'm sure there's a contradictory law that says they're different for carrying in them. you've got to just smile and nod when it comes to these laws -

mike i've answered this twice. i know what the law requires and i'm not saying it requires more or you have to do more than it requires. i'm saying i'm going to do as much as possible to make sure i'm covered. Just as i save every email that has any documentation of "he said, she said" and any piece of paper with the same. unfortunately we all live in a flawed system as we all know and since i choose to live here, i'm subject to those flaws. I don't want to get caught up in one. I choose not to do the minimum the law requires, that doesn't always work. edited to answer: straw purchases are also a concern i have with "i sold it ftf." especially if that guy turns out to be a criminal, maybe the DA says, "i bet that guy bought it for him." you just never know -

easy... don't think anybody's trying to drive a wedge anywhere, pretty sure we can have an argument about our opinions without the need for mediation
