Which flashlight is the best?
monkeylizard replied to gomer pyle's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Streamlight and Fenix get my money. My Streamlight Protac 2L is 260 lumens and easy to carry in a pocket. I'm very happy with it. I have a couple of tiny Fenix E01 lights that I keep in my cars' ash trays for quick access. Not super bright, but that's not why I got these tiny E01s. I'm impressed with the build quality so I'd have no problem getting a larger, more capable light from Fenix. -
I think what crossfire meant was that if you're using "I'm going trap shooting" as the cover story for why you have a shotgun, then you wouldn't need more than 2. Most trap/skeet ranges prohibit more than 2 being loaded at a time.

American Rifleman is their "general topics" publication. It has handguns, long guns, historical pieces, and political stuff (ie Send us more money before Obama takes youre guns!!!OMG!!!WTF!!!BBQ!!!). I suspect that last part is in all of their magazines.

FGS is $70 (or more) plus $10 for the TICS. From their own website: Nobody is disputing that the FFL should get a little scratch for their time and providing a legally necessary service. But market competition being what it is, $15-$25 seems to be the going rate around here for that fee (plus $10 for TICS which goes to the state). I'll pay up to $30 + TICS for someone in a convenient location. After that I'll drive a little out of my way for one of the $15 places.

The official WH corporate policy is no firearms, excluding law enforcement. It is my limited understanding that WH corporate lets the franchisees interpret and enforce that with some discretion, but I don't think corporate would be happy with banning LEO in one extreme or not enforcing the policy for civilians in the other extreme. I suspect franchisees need to to toe that line pretty close. Assuming that the information provided in the link I posted above is true, I have no problem with them asking the guy to put his gun in the car. I'm actually surprised he's not persona non grata at that WH location, assuming again that the info in the link is true.

Anybody know what Everything Weapons' rate is?

They incorporated the TN store as a different company from their web store.

The library front desk will validate parking, but it's only for (I think) 2 hours. All street parking meters (if you can find any) are free after 6pm M-Sat, and all day Sunday. All parking operated by the city or state (meters and certain garages including the library and the Music City Center) are free to anyone with handicap plates or a placard, 24x7. That's state law. For meters, just park there with your plates or placard. No need to pay, you won't get a ticket. The meter maids will see your plates or placard and skip right on by. For the garages with an attendant (like the library) you'll write your name and plate/placard number on the back of the parking ticket you got when you entered. Hand it to the attendant and tell them you have disabled plates. They'll let you out. I'm not sure how it works at the unattended lots like the Music City Center. Payments there are all done by a kiosk.

That's both expensive and going to be all jammed up getting in. The police do a really good job getting people out, but it sucks getting in. It's convenient if you don't like to walk, though. Whenever I go, I ALWAYS park at the Library garage. It's the cheapest in town ($8 all day on weekends) and in a good location. It's #85 on this map: http://www.parkitdowntown.com/maps/interactive-map

Yes. Rippy's was the same way, minus the flag. Roberts Western World is the only honky tonk I know of that is not posted. At least they weren't the last time I looked.

How about for less than half that price? $2399.95 http://www.electricgeneratordepot.com/husqvarna-1-5-acre-robotic-automower?google=1&CAWELAID=230006220000003322&CAGPSPN=pla&gclid=CLm926XhncgCFUY7gQodrDIHgQ Not sure what the actual "range" is on it. That site says 1.5 acres, but I've seen others that say .35 acres. Either way, if it doesn't finish, it goes home and recharges, then finishes. I have to say that it's tempting.

industrial farming uses lots of GPS positioning. I'm pretty sure those big tractors pretty much drive themselves for most of their time in the fields these days.
-
Husqvarna makes one that is rated to do 1.5 acres. Rumor has it that iRobot (the Roomba people) will have one out soon.

Doh! You're right. I guess I should have said if I have a rifle that started as a pistol, but I now no longer have any pistol parts just the rifle (which was once a pistol), then get an 8" upper.... I suppose that highlights the stupidity of this BATFE rule.

Fear The Walking Dead (Los Angeles spinoff)
monkeylizard replied to monkeylizard's topic in General Chat
You do look through the scope. But you don't do it with your eye pressed up against the scope. Same as any other scoped rifle. -
What OS said is correct about this. If the only possible way to use the part would result in an NFA item, then you're in violation. If I have a complete rifle, then obtain an 8" upper, I'm not in violation because I can remove the stock from the tube on the lower that came with the rifle before attaching the 8" upper, making it a legal pistol. If I have a complete pistol, but no rifle-length upper or any complete AR rifle, and then obtain a stock, I'm in violation because the only thing I can do with that stock is make my pistol into an SBR. ETA DISCLAIMER: Sentence 1 is incorrect. See below for details.

Magpul Art Of...DVD and BluRay cheap @ PSA
monkeylizard replied to monkeylizard's topic in Training Discussions
Got the whole library headed my way. All BluRay except Precision Rifle. That's the only one they just had DVD version. For $10 a pop, it's hard to turn down. I know they're not comprehensive and there are other schools of thought out there, but I need to get started and these seem like a great place to begin. -
I can't wait for them to become widespread. Think about the amount of time many of us spend in our cars each day. What if you could use that time for something else? All those excuses I have about not doing X because I don't have time....What if I got 2 hours a day back from my self-driving car? There's no reason the interiors can't be anything we want (within reason for safety). Put in a stationary bike, a TV, a couch, a desk, a bed, a hot tub. Why not?

As Dolomite said above, markings on the lower don't mean anything. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/91172-ar-15-handgun-question/?p=1309965
