I'm pretty sure that's just for Guard recruiters. Recruiters for the active duty forces don't fall under the governor's pervue. Am I misinformed?

There are two in the picture. The black one is on the right.

Fear The Walking Dead (Los Angeles spinoff)
monkeylizard replied to monkeylizard's topic in General Chat
I saw that and thought the same thing. What a bunch of jerks. "Hey neighbors whom we have know for years! Not only are we not going to tell you to GTFO, we're going to let the monsters in to eat you. I hope this doesn't mean we won't exchange Christmas cards this year." I'm betting that he does have a way to get to the yacht. I just expect the storyline to take a turn for the worst before they get there. Strand is thinking several moves ahead of everyone else. He doesn't need Nick right now and didn't really need him to escape (though he did come in handy to have around when the family came looking for him and had the key card, but that's dumb luck.). I think Strand has plans for Nick wherever he plans to take Abigail. He knows this isn't a short-term situation. He can use a person skilled at getting in and out of places unseen. Basically he knows Nick's a lying thief. Now that pseudo-nurse is gone, the rest of the family has no discernable skills which would be useful to Strand. I'm not sure why they're still there except that he doesn't yet have a way to get rid of them and keep Nick at the same time. Maybe they'll be his Otis. Is it just me, or does the actor playing Strand remind you of a young Danny Glover? -

Why did we have to wade through 5 episodes of boring to finally get a good one, only to have it be the last one? I'm thinking Season 2 is going to be much more fun. I figure an episode or 2 will be spent just trying to get to Abigail. Then they'll find they're not the only ones with that idea.... -
Wait, you said East Nashville? Just wait until after dark and have at it. :) Seriously though, there's also Charlie Haffner's place down near Spring Hill. It's not 3-sided like OK Corral but shotguns are good to go.

Democratic Senator uses gun to defend himself
monkeylizard replied to Chief07's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
How does a senator who isn't an anti-gunner defending himself support any of those statements? They are all true (Sen. Boxer has a carry permit) but this story has nothing to do with hypocritical leftists. Not everyone with a D next to their name is an anti-gunner. -
Tennessee "out-dumbs" herself in national media...
monkeylizard replied to Peace's topic in General Chat
He talks a good talk, and is on our side when it's easy to do that, but when when push has come to shove in the past, he has sold the 2A supporters out to dry to business interests (ie. his money donors) -
There was a cabin behind her, not a tent.

Manufacturers can tell which wholesaler/distributor the gun went to based on S/N. The wholesaler can tell which retailer they sent it to. After that (in theory) it's a paper file hunt through the 4473s at the dealer.

I wish I could believe that.

That should work. Kids in the 50s were taught their desks would protect them from a nuke. :D

Then there's this guy. Don't know exactly what he did or if his actions made any difference at all, but he wasn't going down w/o a fight. Hope he pulls through. http://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/oregon-college-shooting/oregon-shooting-heroic-veteran-chris-mintz-was-shot-7-times-n437291

That's about as good as it gets.

Which flashlight is the best?
monkeylizard replied to gomer pyle's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Streamlight and Fenix get my money. My Streamlight Protac 2L is 260 lumens and easy to carry in a pocket. I'm very happy with it. I have a couple of tiny Fenix E01 lights that I keep in my cars' ash trays for quick access. Not super bright, but that's not why I got these tiny E01s. I'm impressed with the build quality so I'd have no problem getting a larger, more capable light from Fenix. -
I think what crossfire meant was that if you're using "I'm going trap shooting" as the cover story for why you have a shotgun, then you wouldn't need more than 2. Most trap/skeet ranges prohibit more than 2 being loaded at a time.

American Rifleman is their "general topics" publication. It has handguns, long guns, historical pieces, and political stuff (ie Send us more money before Obama takes youre guns!!!OMG!!!WTF!!!BBQ!!!). I suspect that last part is in all of their magazines.

FGS is $70 (or more) plus $10 for the TICS. From their own website: Nobody is disputing that the FFL should get a little scratch for their time and providing a legally necessary service. But market competition being what it is, $15-$25 seems to be the going rate around here for that fee (plus $10 for TICS which goes to the state). I'll pay up to $30 + TICS for someone in a convenient location. After that I'll drive a little out of my way for one of the $15 places.

The official WH corporate policy is no firearms, excluding law enforcement. It is my limited understanding that WH corporate lets the franchisees interpret and enforce that with some discretion, but I don't think corporate would be happy with banning LEO in one extreme or not enforcing the policy for civilians in the other extreme. I suspect franchisees need to to toe that line pretty close. Assuming that the information provided in the link I posted above is true, I have no problem with them asking the guy to put his gun in the car. I'm actually surprised he's not persona non grata at that WH location, assuming again that the info in the link is true.
