Can I transfer a handgun to a visitor from Minn.?
monkeylizard replied to bucnball's topic in Handguns
As stated above, interstate handgun transfers must pass through an FFL in the buyer's state. There isn't an exception for family members. The exception is an inheritance. An interstate inheritance of firearms does not have to pass through an FFL in either the deceased of recipient's state (NFA items have a Form 5 tax-free transfer in this case). ETA: I don't see why ya'll couldn't meet here in TN, have the buyer look it over, etc. and decide if he wants it. If so, you'd then ship it to his FFL in MN. I don't see why you couldn't get paid on the spot when the deal is done, as long as he doesn't take possession of it. That would be no different than any other out of state seller waiting for a check to clear before sending the firearm to the buyer's FFL. Does anyone know of a reason why that wouldn't work? -
Maybe they put some Stick'Um on his gloves. It's still going to take some lucky breaks to make the playoffs, but this season might have me me interested again.

I just saw that Amazon has the 30oz RTIC tumbler in stainless for 11.99 as one of their daily deals for 11/11/2016. Plus sales tax, of course. Still a good buy. https://www.amazon.com/RTIC-RTIC30-30-oz-Tumbler/dp/B019D9HESO/ref=sxts_k2p_hero1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_p=2668835602&pd_rd_wg=ghZDW&pf_rd_r=C2Q0P0NDE3YGHK18HD1B&pf_rd_s=desktop-sx-top-slot&pf_rd_t=301&pd_rd_i=B019D9HESO&pd_rd_w=KYRN6&pf_rd_i=rtic+tumbler&pd_rd_r=4ZXTYPZK6QH2TZQVEK30&ie=UTF8&qid=1478878066&sr=1

I picked up a couple of RTIC coolers this week. Ordered Tuesday, arrived Thursday. They were running a sale through Wednesday on their tan coolers. I snagged a 20qt for $99.99 and a 45qt for $139.99. Free shipping. Sorry about not sharing a heads up on the deal before it expired, but after the Atlas event, I wanted to be sure it was really happening before sharing. Now that I know it's real, anyone interested should follow them on Facebook. That's where I saw their sale listed and I suspect they'll do another one. I'll update this thread with a heads up if I see another sale like that. From the main page, the regular prices were showing, but once I selected an individual size and changed the color from white to tan, the prices dropped. Right now they have their camo 30oz tumblers for $10.99 and 20oz for $9.99. Plus their camo soft-sided coolers are on sale at 25% off. Free shipping on orders over a certain amount. With the 30oz tumblers, 4 of them gets you free shipping. Christmas is coming, gentlemen.

H.R.3799 - Hearing Protection Act of 2015

SHHHHHH!!!! Don't tell the bed-wetting leftists our secret! -
I wonder what they'll do with their mountain bikes....

I would have been, but I changed my POTUS vote 3 times before pushing the VOTE button. I just stood there for a few minutes looking at my selections and trying to decide if that's what I really wanted to do. No, one of those choices was not HRC. I know my little vote doesn't count for much, but I still wonder if I made the right choice. I've never felt that way before when leaving a voting booth. It sucks.

This is really a non story. The Smith & Wesson brand isn't changing on the firearms. If it's branded S&W today, it will almost certainly continue to be branded that way in the future. The parent company is simply renaming itself from Smith & Wesson Holding Company to American Outdoor Brands Company. It makes sense when a parent company buys enough child companies in different product markets to do something like this. It makes it clearer to investors that there's more to the company than just the S&W brand. From their Annual Report: Toss in the new acquisition of Ultimate Survival Technologies and it's clear that they're trying to build out a full outdoor lifestyle company, not just firearms and handcuffs (and misc. doodads) sold under the S&W brand. I expect the acquisition of a hunting accessory company (tree stands, game calls, etc.) to be in their future, and/or maybe a sport optics company.

Anyone ever order ammo from MunireUSA?
monkeylizard replied to Wingshooter's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Yep. The good folks there have a package headed my way right now. Always a good selection and quick shipping. Sometimes I can find what I want elsewhere for a little less, but not often and not by a whole lot. -
Yep. Hwy 231 in Trousdale Co. Dues are going to $200/year. The price is inline with other ranges, but I'd better start getting more than a 300yd range that's effectively closed on Saturdays for that. Strategic Edge is the same price and goes to 1250 yds, has 2 different pistol ranges and a tactical carbine range, plus offers classes. I thought I saw a skeet field the last time I drove by, but I didn't see it listed on their site. Meetings Nov. 14 & 15. I'll see what they have to say about what the plans are for the range. Now I'm wishing I hadn't sent in my $50 yesterday without knowing this new information without good details on what's planned to be installed.

What did we learn in the recent fuel shortage?
monkeylizard replied to Mark A's topic in Survival and Preparedness
I didn't realize Lexington Container was up to $80/can. Just last Spring I think I paid about $55/can. -
Sorry 'bout that, hipower. I didn't mean no harm. I was just looking for the party.
-
Yep. It could have been not so much that they wanted the gun as much as they didn't want the other person to have it.
-
Yep. A bunch of people saying "meh" isn't likely to translate well into sales numbers.

What did we learn in the recent fuel shortage?
monkeylizard replied to Mark A's topic in Survival and Preparedness
I use metal jerry cans from http://www.lexingtoncontainercompany.com/Nato-Jerry-Cans.html Those are the real deal. Mine were made in Latvia, not China. Full seam welds all the way around and fully painted inside and out as they should be. That seller used to have the real can spouts (aka Donkey D***s), but I don't see them listed any longer. Just the stupid EPA ones. Look around on the web though and I'm sure you can find the regular ones too. I add some PRI-G to each can before filling with non-ethanol gasoline and it works great. Lab-tested to be far better than Stabil. http://www.kansaswindpower.net/PRI lab_tests.htm. I've had fuel sit in them for quite a while and still work just fine, even in small engines like mowers. -
What was in the booby trap that sprayed the guy? A nice flour bomb would have been funny too, followed by something with a strong smell that deer hate, whatever that might be.

I took it to be a knock-off of the Crusader/Infidel lowers. Toss in a religious overtone to a product marketed as one which protects you and yours from an abstract concept of bad things out there trying to take it.

So it's a bog-standard AR with their own hand guard and stock? That's it? Oh, and it has the fixed front sight post so you're limited on future customization. Am I missing something? I guess I'm just disappointed that it doesn't have "GRIP ZONE" all over it.

My okra is still going, but the stuff it's putting out seems hard for its size. Little 2" ones feel like they would at 4". I doubt this late okra will be any good. I also have a bell pepper plant that has finally decided to start producing. That's about it. No fall plantings for me this year. Just didn't want to fool with it.

What size backup generator?
monkeylizard replied to maroonandwhite's topic in Survival and Preparedness
Unless it's an inverter generator, like the Honda EU series or the comparable ones from Yamaha. Nice clean sine wave off of those. I have an electricity monitor that tells me how much is coming in via the meter. I could run everything in the house except the range, A/C, microwave, and dryer off of a 2Kw as long as I don't have everything on at once. Like nightrunner said, switch to LED bulbs and you can light up the night and not strain even a basic genset. With my 6.5Kw, I could run any one of those too except the A/C. It could run it, but may not have enough to start it. It would probably work, but over time could damage the A/C motor. Plus I'd have to wire it all up and don't want to bother with that. I can live w/o A/C as long as I can keep a fan going. Gas heat means all I need in the winter is the blower motor and the 6.5Kw is plenty strong for that. -

Keep your eyes peeled on Craigslist (I use http://www.searchtempest.com to search it). You can get a good deal if you're patient. I searched every few days for about 6-9 months but ended up with a deal on a Honda EU6500is. I have yet to see even a EU3000is for as cheap as I got mine.
