  1. I can't say that I necessarily disagree with the author's two main points. The report of the firearm does alert others in the area to the firearm being used, and that's good for avoiding hunters, criminals, and terrorists. The scarcity of suppressors has likely been a key factor in their limited use in crimes. I know that cans are relatively simple to make. I don't know why we don't have more illegal suppressors out there being used by criminals. If we did, it would be a slam-dunk case to remove them from the NFA because it would be clear it isn't working. The author is assuming that the scarcity comes directly because of the NFA. As it stands now, it's hard to say if that's true or if it's because criminals are too stupid to make them.
  2. If Trump carried a pistol, I imagine it would look something like this. It's very him.
  3. DWarren123 is correct. If you go get the guns, or have them shipped directly to you, there's no paperwork (unless they're NFA items like I mentioned earlier). Shipping them can be a hassle because some shippers simply will not ship from one private person to another as a matter of their own internal company policies. It's not against the law in your case, but they simply don't want to deal with it. Depending on the quantity, you could check them as checked baggage with the airline if you're flying to Colorado and back. There are some requirements for flying with them, so let us know if that's your plan and we'll give you the details. If you want to ship them home and can't find a shipper to send them to your house (which is perfectly legal to do so), then you'd have to ship them back to TN to a licensed dealer (aka an FFL or Federal Firearms Licensee) and fill out a government form called a 4473 at the dealer's shop. It's basically a questionnaire and your personal info. That's then used to run a background check. The dealer will likely charge you a fee for handling the transaction. That could be anywhere from $15-$50/firearm. You'll also pay a $10 fee for a background check. Either the 4473 or the background check is good for up to a certain number of firearms. I think the number is 5, but I'm not sure. Someone more knowledgeable than me can jump in and provide the actual number allowed on each 4473 and background check. I've never bought more than 2 at a time. If you need a dealer recommendation, I'm sure some of our Memphis members can give you some suggestions for good ones.
  4. What they said. Just bring them home. Transport them unloaded for safety reasons and so as not to run afoul of any state laws as you pass through, as Oh Shoot pointed out. No paperwork to fill out. The unlikely exception would be if any of the firearms are considered items regulated by the National Firearms Act, commonly called NFA or Class 3 firearms. These would be short barreled rifles, short barreled shotguns, fully automatic (not semi automatic) firearms, and suppressors (aka silencers). If the collection you're inheriting includes any of those items, let us know and we'll direct you to some specific paperwork that has to be sent to the ATF. There's no fee/tax for the paperwork during an inheritance, but it still needs to be filed.
  5. Are you kidding? Parents only questioned?!?!?! Nope! That's child abuse, making him work in an industrial plastics mining operation! Take that kid away from those monsters!
  6. Don't worry. It's California so someone from some agency or another will be along shortly to shut him down for not having a business license, lack of employer-sponsored healthcare, OSHA violations, or operating an industrial business in a residential zone. If not, maybe a busy body from the Home Owners Association will do it for them.
  7. Ah...Or I had a lack of reading comprehension. I get it now.
  8. This is quite a bit more than the Henry. The Magpul stock will MSRP at $110. Plus you of course need the 10/22 Takedown which look to go for around $350. I've seen the Henry Survival Rifle as low as $178 on Bud's, but around $225 seems to be the current price.
  9. A main difference between this and the AR-7/Henry Survival Rifle is that the action and barrel are exposed here, but enclosed in the stock in the AR-7. Plus a couple hundred more clams for the Ruger+Magpul vs the HSR. Still, it's a neat way to pack up a 10/22 takedown.
  10. I've seen that truck. It's nice. <<searches Google for ways to defeat KahrMan's F-150 system. Waits for cold morning . . . >>>

  12. Primarily found in the northern-midwest and east-coast areas. They have adapted to life in urban areas and are seldom found in rural communities.
  13. They have a crap ton of real estate. They own most of their buildings, rather than lease them like many stores do. I see them transforming into a REIT over the next several years.
  14. I needed a hex-bit socket about a month ago. I stopped at Home Depot and Lowes, but every hex bit socket they had was made in China. There's no Sears near me, but there's a K-Mart near my work and they carry Craftsman. I know Craftsman power tools have all been shipped off to China, but I thought their hand tools were still made here. Nope. I don't know about all of them, but the sockets were made in China. I just went back to Lowes and got a Kobalt.
  15. When we're pushing 70 next week, just remember what you gave up by moving out there.
  16. Call it paranoia. I don't like too much chemical contact in my food. I don't know exactly what's in silica pellets. It's more than just silica to get the color-change effect.
  17. It dries out faster if you pour it out into a baking pan. Plus you can easily see when all of the desiccant is dried out (assuming yours changes color). Then use a funnel to pour it back in the canisters. I use an old baking pan that's only used for this. I wouldn't use one for food after this.
  18. TWRA did finally confirm it when someone had trail cam footage. The last I heard, it was still unclear if any appear to be taking up residence or if they're just passing through the area on a semi-regular basis.
  19. This is true. bud has several shirtless photos of me now. I don't like to think about what he does with them.
  20. There will be very few 18-20 year olds honorably discharged from the military. With some exceptions, an enlistment is at least 4 years, meaning 21 would be the youngest a person would normally honorably separate, and that would be after enlisting at 17 with parental permission, if that's even still a thing. Short of reinstating the 2-year draft, the only ways I can think of an under-21 honorable discharge are going to be medical discharge or force reductions. This really is a stupid law that helps very few people and hurts us on reciprocity. It would have made sense if they had included active duty 18-20 year olds. It would have still hurt us on reciprocity, but it would have at least helped more than just a handful of special cases qualify for an HCP.
  21. Or a force reduction draw down. Or if something like the Vietnam-era draft ever comes back, we could have 20 year old veterans after a 2 year stint.
