Don't ever think Wal-Mart's policy-making executives are acting from any moral high ground. What little bit that company had died with Sam. Wally and Dick's are doing this to try to not get sued when the next shooter comes along.

I don't think it will hurt them much. I never saw a lot of Camel Backs in the Brentwood REI. There were some, but mostly they have higher end brands like Arc'teryx and Osprey. The folks looking for Camel Backs will continue to find them at Academy, Dick's, and Wal-Mart. REI's sales staff is knowledgeable and will direct customers looking for hydration packs to these other brands and show them the features.

I can easily do the exhibit hall in a day, day and a half. Mostly because I've been 3 times in a row and there's very little new stuff each time. If you get tickets for the NRA-ILA session, that will take a big chunk of the day and it will then definitely take two days to get through it all. That's skipping all the seminars. If you want to do the NRA-ILA, exhibit hall, AND some seminars, you'll probably need 3 days.

High end outdoor gear. Think North Face, Mountain Hardware, Kuhl, etc. Great quality and knowledgeable staff. It's a shame. I like going in there, but I can find the same stuff online for less these days.

Hope you boys bought 'em cheap and stacked 'em deep. I think the panic buying has begun. PSA is pretty much out of stripped lowers, AIM is out of the cheaper ones (like Anderson) and I suspect the more expensive ones will go soon too. Cabela's is out of Anderson lowers. Primary Arms still has some stripped Anderson lowers.

REI's going even further. They're dropping brands made by companies that have even a whiff of guns on them, like CamelBak owned by Vista who also owns Federal and Savage.

There's nothing fine about it. It very clearly crosses it, stomping it along the way.

New, they're available for about $250 (no laser) and $325 (with laser). Adjust from there. Check Gunbroker.com for a ballpark of used ones. Personally, at that low price point, I'd need at least 20-25% off new to go for a used one. YMMV.

I attended the last three in Nashville, Louisville, and Atlanta. The exhibit hall opens on Friday. The exhibitors are still setting up on Wednesday and Thursday. Friday is generally a slow day, especially in the morning. Saturday is a zoo. Sunday is in between and its when exhibitors start handing out more free swag so they don't have to pack it back up and ship it home.

I thought they pulled ARs and similar after Sandy Hook. The only surprise about this announcement from Dick's is that they had apparently started selling them again.

Same at Home Depot, but in practice at most locations of both HD and Lowes it's pretty much all dogs are good to go as long as they're well behaved.

I'm torn. If Hildebeast had been the winner, maybe the Repubs wouldn't be falling over themselves to abandon anything remotely resembling a conservative position on everything . . . Maybe.

Trump is now and always has been a pragmatist. He's not an ideologue and he's not a lawyer. He sees a problem and he fixes it in a way which seems logical to him and moves on. Sometimes it's a good fix, sometimes it's a bad fix, and sometimes there wasn't really a problem to begin with. But he doesn't look at the world from a conservative or liberal perspective. He also doesn't care much for what the law says if it obstyructs his solutions and he's perfectly willing to circumvent it as much as possible to achieve his goals. While much of what he says disturbs me, none of what he says surprises me.

I wish I could like this 3 times.

I support the Elephant Sanctuary in Hohenwald with mine. It's not much. After several years it's a total of just over $15, but it helps and doesn't cost me anything.
