  1. This reminds me of the basketball scene in Movie 43. It's on YouTube, but is very much NSFW due to language.
  2. The great and powerful Oz Garufa has spoken!
  3. Yep, it's one of KIA's logos. They use that one in Korea and since it looks so much better than the "KIA" logo we get, some owners have turned to replacing the US logo with the Korean-market one. It also helps hide the fact that they're driving a KIA . . .
  4. <> Aye, but that's the rub. The guy does turn and back away. The shooter hesitates between drawing and firing. In that time, the other guy is backing up, turns away, and has his hands down, THEN the shooter fires. That's less than a second from when the shooter draws, so it's happening fast, but the shooter's hesitation and the boyfriend's disengagement is still there. I know he's still close enough that the boyfriend could cover that distance quickly, but at the exact moment the trigger is squeezed, is there enough happening that a reasonable person would be in fear for his life (or serious harm)? Even with that hesitation issue aside, I can see how a prosecutor might sway a jury to decide that being knocked to the ground (not tackled, not being pummeled, just knocked down) wouldn't make a reasonable person think they're about to die. Of course what's missing from the tape is the audio so we don't know if the boyfriend was advancing saying "I'll kill you!" or some such which makes a huge difference. I wonder how much that witness who comes out of the store behind the boyfriend was able to recount. I'm just glad I'm not involved in this one, or any of them.
  5. This is OS' new badge to go next to his HCP sash.
  6. It's a mess that nobody wants to touch. I'm thinking the D.A. down there may decide to send it on to a grand jury so he/she can say "it wasn't me....it was the grand jury" no matter which way the grand jury decides.
  7. The new one in Florida doesn't look good for the shooter either.
  8. Yep. He's on the Republican Primary ticket. Given the choices, I might vote for the man. Erik88 provided links to his sites on the last page of this thread. Though according to Basil's official site, he's running for "gpvernor"
  9. I have the same problem. Since GGC closed up, I don't have a good place to go any more. I squeezed off a few rounds back in May at GnL Hendersonville, but I just don't enjoy indoor ranges as much as outdoor.
  10. On a positive note, I see that Basil Marceaux is back on the ballot for governor....
  11. I'm on a site that has "Hosts @ Admins Day" at random times, usually only about once every few years. For that day, the H&As have absolute power to do anything they want. Posts, avatars, signatures, etc. can all get changed at the whim of an H&A. Certain words are auto-replaced with other words to hilarious effect on the uninitiated, entire boards disappear and are replaced with something else, usually a parody of the board that was removed, crazy stuff in general. H&As make arbitrary and often capricious rules as they see fit, and change them anytime they want throughout the day. Rule violations come with a variety of punishments from being pounced on by the peanut gallery on up to and including being banned for the rest of the day. Then the next day it's (mostly) all reversed and put back to normal. There are usually a few lingering effects (like maybe an Admin is slow to return some particularly butt-hurt member's avatar to normal), but it's fun and a good way for H&As to blow off some steam.
  12. +1 to Camden and Acadia NP.
  13. https://www.wkrn.com/news/death-of-murfreesboro-doctor-at-shooting-range-under-investigation/1285195335 No foul play suspected, but the investigation is still ongoing.
  14. That reminds me of when I was working a summer job at my buddy's "Island Times" convenience store. There I was, minding my own business, probably doing something mundane like cleaning my fingernails or something. This guy comes in, clearly having had a few too many beers on his charter boat. He kept mumbling something about "bread" and flashing 2 dollars to everyone in the store. I figured he wanted to know where the bread was so I walked him to the bread rack. Crazy drunk pulled a gun on me! True story.
  15. I'd gladly give up 1 seat in the Senate to put someone like Cruz on the SCOTUS for the next 30-40 years.
  16. That's a hickory tree.
  17. Try Wilson Bank & Trust. They're good people.
  18. I think there's a better than average chance it will come back. Kim's father and grandfather used it as a PR focal point of how they stuck it to the Americans. Kim can use its return as a strong sign of goodwill that costs him very little.
  19. I don't call ahead and tell the Wal-Mart manager I'll be carrying when I shop in his store and I don't tell my barber I'm carrying when I get a haircut. A charter operator is no different. It's a business operating to the public.
  20. The dead give away for me are the guys dressed in various shades of tan and olive drab. Especially cargo pants/shorts, 5.11 shirt, and a fishing vest when it's a bajillion degrees outside. I just assume anyone dressed like John Goodman in The Big Lebowski is carrying.
