  1. @Dolomite_supafly welcome back! You've been missed!
  2. You need a place with no HOA. There's probably not an HOA anywhere that doesn't have some vague nuisance provision which can be interpreted any way the board wants to.
  3. +1 to Bikeriders. Very good acting. I plan to go see Despicable Me 4 tomorrow and Horizon on Thursday morning
  4. A Quiet Place: Day One is good. I watched it today at the AMC Dolby in Cool Springs. The Dolby Atmos sound system is outstanding and for a movie all about sounds, it was an added boost to the film. It's the opposite of Horizon at just over 90 minutes (2 hours with previews). I plan to see The Bikeriders this week and maybe Horizon if I can fit it in the schedule. 3.5 hours with previews is a long time.
  5. Here's one more dick shot worth watching. The good stuff starts at 9:25.
  6. Monkey Man was a fun ride. Gonna try to see Bad Boys 4: Still Milking this Old Goat this week and also Bikeriders.
  7. Um . . . you mean like ALL of the last movie? The axe fight in the club was ridiculously stupid, then the stair climb took it to a whole 'nother level of ridiculousness. It's like they said "let's see just how much of the 'Fast & the Furious' treatment we can give this movie". At least Wick didn't drive his car down the side of a dam, but I honestly wouldn't have been surprised if they had him drive up one.
  8. Yep. Those are included in their subscription too. They'll replay some newer "classics" too. A few weeks ago they did the LotR trilogy, one each day. I watched JAWS on IMAX a couple of years ago. That was super cool and the first time I've ever seen it on a big screen.
  9. I have the AMC subscription so I can go as much as I want for just $21.80/month incl. taxes. That makes it nice because if a movie sucks, I can just leave and go do something else and don't feel like I wasted my money, just a little time. Technically it's not unlimited, it's 3 movies a week. I can only think of once in the past 2 years where there were actually more than 3 movies out I wanted to see in a week AND had time to do more than 3. I just waited and saw the 4th one the next week. AMC's plan is way better than Regal's because AMC doesn't upcharge for anything. I can see movies at the IMAX, Dolby, 3D, etc. with no extra fees. Regal charges fees for EVERYTHING, including booking tickets in their own app. They're ridiculous. I go to usually 3-4 movies a month except in the lean months of January-April when not much comes out and it's the dumping ground for bad movies. Even then I usually get to 1 or 2 a month. May through August is prime time for blockbusters and October-December is prime time for the dramas and the occasional blockbuster, especially around Thanksgiving and Christmas.
  10. There's nothing you can do about what other people complain about. If it's legal, you're doing it safely, and at reasonable hours, have at it. Any complaints will stop after the Sheriff's deputy stops by a time or two, sees all is fine, and tells the Karens to quit calling.
  11. Two 24" wooden stools. Perfect for counter-height seating. $40 for the pair. Pickup in Bellevue or the Nashville airport area. I also go to Cool Springs/Franklin somewhat frequently.
  12. Sorry. The OP souled it a year ago.
  13. Then how about Ford Pinto?
  14. Yeah, and a 16 year old in 1988 made what, $3.25? maybe $4/hour? Today Wal-Mart starts at $17.50/hour and Target starts at $15-24/hour. . . plus benefits. Most customer service call-center jobs start at $20+/hour and they're nearly all full-time work from home these days so opportunities to live in a lower-cost area and still have a good paying job are out there. The Internet has made the entire world available for incoming knowledge and outgoing sales. There are literally free college-level courses available 24x7. There are YouTube videos demonstrating step-by-step nearly anything a person could ever want to know how to do: changing a light bulb, how to start a business, knitting, welding, carpentry, plumbing, auto repair, how to build an airplane, photography and editing, computer coding, musical instruments, and anything else we can think of. There are so many opportunities for side hustles, and not just DoorDash/Uber, but getting a skill and making better than entry-level money doing it like coding, teaching English online, or hustling with sales. I've read somewhere that the first person to make a million dollars on eBay did it reselling golf clubs. He'd hit thrift stores, yard sales and estate sales looking for good ones and resell them on eBay. That's hustling every day to find inventory, post listings, and get shipments out. I know the first UK eBay millionaire started by selling protein supplements and mobile phone accessories from his parent's garden shed. Now he's the largest eBay seller in the UK and 6th in the world. It's not easy, but more than any other time in human history, it's possible. If I had to start over, I thank the good Lord I'd get to do it today and not in the days of classroom learning and paper book libraries, mail order catalogs, print ads, and cold telephone calls.
  15. I went to an IKEA years ago down in Atlanta. I'd heard about their amazing Swedish meatballs in their little cafeteria thing so I had to try some. They taste exactly like Swanson's TV dinner Salisbury steak out of the old aluminum trays. Too bad they didn't have any scorched mashed potatoes and the little cherry cobbler thing to go with them.
  16. Sorry you had to go through that. When I hit the $250 limit on my first card and couldn't pay it off in full, I knew then and there I had to clean that up and start making better choices. I sold my new truck to free up some cash flow and drove a car I really hated for a few years. I got that one paid off and kept making the payment to myself so I'd have money for the next one. Never used consumer debt again. That was back when Kroger would have those cheap Totino's pizzas on sale sometimes 10/$10. I'd get 20 of them and that was dinner for most of the month. Totino's pizza and a Big K soda . . . livin' the dream!
  17. Yup. Me too. FBI and Metro SWAT raided the building next door to my 1st crap-hole apartment for one of the FBI's Top-10 most wanted fugitives. Had another nutter in the complex storing gasoline in milk jugs and 2-liter bottles in his apartment for Y2K. Having a lower rent (lousy apartment in a lousy location) and roommates kept costs low and allowed me to save up for better living later. It sucked, but it's what I could afford at the time.
  18. What's wrong with that? I did it. My brother did it. I suspect a lot of folks on here did it. It sucks for a season, but it's a means to an end. It made me appreciate having my own place later.
  19. I had some garden soil for my raised beds delivered about 10 years ago. I had to buy the bags too so I held on to them in case I ever needed more. After 10 years, my garden size is set and it's not changing. Now I have some space for different stuff I'll never use again.
  20. I love my Keen Targhee II shoes and boots. I also have a pair of Lowas. Fit is similar to the Keens. +1 to good socks. Some cushy wool socks improve any shoe/boot. I have several pair of Darn Tough and like them a lot.
  21. I have three bulk materials bags just taking up space that I want gone. Free to anyone who wants them before they go in the garbage. Two measure 43x43x56 (pictured below) One is smaller at 35x35x38 Pickup curbside in Bellevue.
  22. I have a Delta ShopMaster 10" 13-Amp portable table saw with a stand. I don't have the pins/toggles that attach the saw to the stand. It's just 4 holes so any bolt that fits in the holes will do. The saw has a solid anodized-aluminum table that measures 17-1/2 by 34 inches. It allows for a 20-inch maximum rip to the right of the blade and a maximum depth of cut at 90° of 3" (76mm). The blade has a diameter of 10" (254 mm) and operates at a speed of 5000 rpm. The saw also features a front- and rear-locking T-square-type fence and a miter gauge with adjustable 90° and 45° stops. The motor is protected by a thermal overload protection system. Currently equipped with a 24-tooth blade for rough cuts. I wouldn't us that blade for any fine cuts but it works great on lumber and I used it to rip some oak plank flooring. It was plenty good for that. Located in Bellevue (west side of Nashville). I work near the Nashville airport and can meet in that area too. $100
  23. This. Last I checked, it was down to like 2 main companies. Get the highest "grade" available from any brand it should be pretty much the same as everyone else's. The last amazing batteries came from Panasonic in some Japanese cars in the 90s and early 00s. My Miata ran the original battery for 18 years and that's a very common thing in the Miata world. Sadly Panasonic doesn't make them any longer and is a shell of its former self. Aftermarket replacements last 3-5 years like all the others. I have a Duracell from Batteries Plus in it now and that's been good for 5 years so far. I keep it on a Battery Tender when I'm not driving the car much. I think that really helps.
  24. I'm at that in-between age where the stairs are fine, but having to paint the thing every few years scares me.
