+1 on Coker. Good place.

Oh...did I mention that some of the letters are crooked and the text lines don't line up centered? It's great. I'll try to get a picture of it some day.

SNL did a great spoof of this. It ends with "Get Broadview. Or get murdered." I'm sure it's on Hulu.

Could that article have sounded any more like it came fresh out of the Springfield marketing department? We all know that most articles in the gun rags are just adverts, but this one seemed more blatant than most.

There's a car in East Nashville near Fatherland Street that has the memorial decals in the back window, but it's made of the square stick on letters for boat registration or mailbox numbers. Now that's ghetto.

Well today I did my Target walk

Sure there is. Cheap ammo. But that's it. -
Floods, contractors, and an HCP
monkeylizard replied to monkeylizard's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Surprisingly, that has been my experience this week. Except for the first guy that asked about looters, and a hardwood guy I've worked with before who said "I see ya got yer heater", nobody else has seemed to care. -

hmm....maybe I can sneak a new 12 ga. shotty in between the hardwood and the drywall invoices. Maybe my wife won't notice.... -

I like that. I should make one and put it up at the entrance to the neighborhood. -

Yeah, I thought about the "tipping off", but in this case, I'd rather that be a well known fact and be a deterent. -
My HCP could not have arrived at a better time. 2 or 3 days after the house flooded. I've decided that I have waaaay too many strangers coming into my house for quotes and too many people working on neighbors' homes (and mine soon). So I decided this morning to start open carrying the XD*. I'll use this thread as a running commnetary on the reactions I get, if any, when contractors/repairmen come to the house. Let's see if it gets interesting. So far, I've had a roofing guy come out. Unrelated to the flood. I just need a new roof. One of his first questions was if we've had a problem with looters. Nobody prior to my OC asked that question. I just said "No. Metro's had a pretty good presence. And I want any would be looters to know they need to find another occupation." *Yes, I know I don't need an HCP for carrying in my own home. But I'm not sure if that applies to the yard too. And it really reduces any potential hassle factor.

I was watching live on channel 5 when a building came floating down and took out some cars and a boat on a trailer. TDOT should get an Emmy for their excellent camera work.

Nashville Gun Crime Attorney :: Stick to Your Guns :Restoration of Tennessee :: Hendersonville, Tennessee Weapons Crime Defense Lawyer - Hollins, Raybin & Weissman It looks to be state specific. Sounds like it ain't happenin' in Tennessee. But TN doesn't appear to ever restore firearm ownership rights. and if your friend was convicted in federal court, also ain't happenin'.

Tailgating at the HCP class. LOL.

I know the state says 4 hours classroom, 4 hours range. But honestly, what can you do on the range for FOUR HOURS and only go through 48 rounds? that's an average of one round every 5 minutes. I know....safety instructions, etc. but still...that only takes so much time. What can you do in an HCP class for that long? I've been trying to think of what the instructor could have left out, and I just don't see anything. We went through the different types of handguns and actions, safety, cleaning and maintenance, ammunition, watched Bert and Ernie fumble through a YouTube quality video from the state on legal matters, discussed various considerations specific to using deadly force. Our class time was actually 5 hours. Then off to get qualified with our range time. A tactical class on the range for 4 hours? no problem. A "don't blow your nuts off when you shove your new gun in your pants" class on the range for 4 hours? really?

I was there for 4 hours on the range. 3 hours, 45 min. sitting in the lounge readings gun mags and waiting on the people ahead of me. 15 minutes of shooting. Does that count?

I think someone spilled water on one panda. Now they have a bunch of them.

I did HCP at GnL a few weks ago. It works like this. We had 40 in the class. At the end of the classroom portion (about 1:00pm) we were given our certificates (unsigned by the instructor). Each was numbered in the order in which we arrived that morning. #1-20 went directly to the range. No break. #21-40 were sent off for lunch and told to be back in an hour or so. Groups go through the range 5 at a time. Some groups are faster than others, depending on the weakest shooter in the group. When you finish on the range, the instructor signs the cert. and off you go. You're all done. In other words...30 minutes to an hour early in the morning, can save you 2 hours in the afternoon. Get there early. I was in the last group and didn't get started on the range until about 4:40. But there were a couple of exceptionally slow peop....groups in front of me. I don't know of anything else in Greenbriar but the Sonic across the street. I'm convinced that if GnL wasn't there, Sonic would close. If your number is higher up, say 30+, you'd have plenty of time to go to Rivergate and back.

HCP Qualification - Shooting skills involved?
monkeylizard replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
The OPers location is listed as "PA". So I'm assuming he is a Pennsylvania resident planning to relocate. That's my understanding too. My instructor chose 6 at each of the shorter distances for the last 12 rounds. It would increase their pass rating without making it so obvious as to have all 12 at the 3 yard mark. -
HCP Qualification - Shooting skills involved?

My class was 18 rounds at 3 yards, 18 rounds at 7 yards, and 12 rounds at 50 feet. All into a full-sized silhouette target. Any hits inside the black area count. You don't have to get inside the numbered rings. 70% is correct. If you get all of them at the 2 closer distances, and miss all of them at the longer one.....you still pass. I now truly understand what others have said. If you can't pass the TN HCP course, you have no business carrying a handgun. Some dude in my class shot the motor mount for the target and he still passed. -
How what? If you meant how is the section quoted by D3Vo the best part, and that registering to comment is almost worth the time, it's because Haunted911 was straight up wrong about open carry w/o a permit, wrongly calls the Tennessee HCP a Concealed Weapons permit, and then finishes his comment with "Learn the laws people!" That's funny. What did I miss?

It's almost worth registering with the Leaf-Chronicle to comment that Haunted911 is wronger than a wrong thing that is wrong.
