  1. How what? If you meant how is the section quoted by D3Vo the best part, and that registering to comment is almost worth the time, it's because Haunted911 was straight up wrong about open carry w/o a permit, wrongly calls the Tennessee HCP a Concealed Weapons permit, and then finishes his comment with "Learn the laws people!" That's funny. What did I miss?
  2. It's almost worth registering with the Leaf-Chronicle to comment that Haunted911 is wronger than a wrong thing that is wrong.
  3. Are you sure about the #16 bases? According to Midway and a few others, #24 is what goes on the Mark II.
  4. If it's during sex, take option 1.
  5. So the scope arrived yesterday. erm.....I said beginner .22 rifle. Why didn't you guys tell me I needed something to attach the scope to the rifle? Actually, I just assumed scopes came with the mounting hardware. Apparently not, and it makes sense now that I see it. And when you guys were talking about rings earlier, I thought you meant some kind of ring shaped iron sights so you could use those w/o looking through the scope... Any recommendations on rings for a Savage MkII bolt with a Pentax GameSeeker scope?
  6. +1 on the contract. And even if a contract exists, the contract may have provisions for changing the agreement with a preset notification period. As for coming down hard on attendance after freezing pay increases..... it's not ilegal. It's just bad for morale. monkeylizard, BBA, MBA (not a lawyer, but did have more than a few H.R. and biz law classes)
  7. I think Stones River Hunter Education Center allows pretty much anything, but their longest is only 100 yards.
  8. I'm new to carrying and I'm looking at an MTAC for my XD subcompact. I'm right handed. ISTM that 6 o'clock is the most concealed spot because of the hollow area created by the small of my back/butt crack. If that's the case, wouldn't a left-handed holster work better by pointing the grip towards the right side for easier grabnbing by my right hand? I can see how with a lefty holster I would have the muzzle pointed inwards towards me while drawing it around with my right hand and that's a big negative. But the motion of twisting my right arm around at the shoulder to garb grips that are poinetd towards my left side feels awkward. Though it keeps the muzzle pointed away from my right side as I draw it around. What are your thoughts on this? Is 6 o'clock too far back? Does that position allow too much movement, especially while sitting down?
  9. That's an ethical grey area. The county clerk requires an amount to be filled in, so someone will have to put it in there to register the car. The only question is how much. Taxes are paid on the amount entered in the field and it's supposed to be the amount of the transaction. To put in a lower amount is a form of tax evasion. I don't have a TN title with me, but who should enter the amount would depend on where it's located on the title. On some states it's in the block marked as "Seller". In others' it's in a general area by the odometer reading. I know in the collector car world, that's often left blank by the seller. The buyer puts in whatever they want. The county clerk doesn't know if a '39 Plymouth is worth the $1,500 written on the back of the title, or the $45,000 that was actually paid for it since it's been hot rodded. It's legally wrong, but ethically gray, depending on one's view of taxation. some would say the gub'ment got their cut when the car was sold new. Why should they get more when it changes hands a second time? Especially on collector cars that may change hands dozens of times. My only tip is for doing this...don't lowball it too much. Even a county clerk knows that a used 2008 BMW is worth more than $500.
  10. It works fine on my machine. Must just be you.
  11. Do you know what happened to the kid getting the beat down? Just curious.
  12. I see a rifle in the first 2 pics, but why do the others just show your couch and rug?
  13. What is that top one? Some custom job? The red one looks like it should be a paintball gun.
  14. My dad's a collector. He said it's worth $20-$30, maybe. With the rusted out bottom and no lid, it's just not worth anything. Sorry.
  15. +1 KFC Double Down (original recipe): 540 calories 1,380 mg of salt 32 g fat (10 saturated) Big Mac 590 calories 1070mg sodium 34g fat (11g saturated, 0g trans fat) Whopper w/cheese 790 calories 1432mg sodium 48g fat (18g saturated, 1g trans fat)
  16. +1 (and it's 1917-1911m) He has apparently been working with the engineers at S&W/Walther to get a lot of his suggested improvements incorporated into the manufacturing process. Which revision you have will determine how many of his mods are reccomended. The newer the model, the fewer tweaks. Check the magazines. They will have a number printed on the seide. No revision # is the oldest and has problems. Rev A and Rev B are newer and have some of the FTF issues resolved. The "B" rev. has all of his mag mods already done to it from the factory. from Wiki: That would help you know how much needs to be done to make it a great little P22. Mine's an "AK" 2009 run with the B mags. The only thing I'm planning to do is to polish down the trigger bar ears a little bit more. They are digging into the frame a little bit after about 300 rounds, but not as much as the earlier models did based on some pics I've seen. I've not had one FTF or FTE using CCI Mini Mags. 1917-1911M's "P22 Bible" can be found here: http://www.freespeech.com/1917-1911M_P22_bible.pdf
  17. Thanks. I ordered a scope. Pentax GameSeeker 4-12 x 40.
  18. 550 value pack of Federal to start with. That should get me going, then I'll switch to the pricier stuff.
  19. +1. This is the way it's supposed to happen by the letter of the law. Basically, the buyer is always on the hook for sales tax on any and all purchases. Period. The sales tax rate can vary by the item (cars/boats/homes are NOT 9.25% + local option). A business with a presence in the state where the transaction occurs is required to collect the sales tax from the buyer and provide it to the state. A private seller not operating under a business license, or a business with no presence in the state (many Internet/mail order companies) is not required to collect it from the buyer, but the buyer still owes it to the state. +1 again.
  20. Went to Wally World....got the Savage Mk II bolt in synthetic black. It has the iron sights and the swivels.
  21. I'm pretty sure it does have the iron sights, but I want a scope on it. I'm planning on mostly being on a 50 or 100 yard range (Stones River has both) and want to be able to get groupings inside the little 2" targets printed in the corners of the larger targets. I'll use the iron sights some, but I've never used a scoped rifle before. Thought this might be a fun one to start with. I'll post back with what I decide on and maybe some pics too. That Harris bipod shown above does look pretty sweet. Does the Savage Mark II have the front swivel already in place or would I have to add one for a bipod to connect?
  22. What's the difference between reciprocity and recognition? Isn't reciprocity a formal agreement, and recognition informal? Wouldn't that make the exclusion cited in 39-17-1351®(3)©(ii) only apply for issuing states with the formal agreement (which Georgia has)? If so, wouldn't anyone from a recognized state fall under the 30 hours rule?
  23. Great. I'll be picking up a black synthetic bolt-action Mark II w/o sight from Wally World for $127. I like the black better than the brown, and for the $62 price difference between that one and the brown w/sight at Dick's, I think I can get a decent sight for it. Any reccomendations there? I saw some at Wally and checked out a few at Academy too. <<Wally prices>> Bushnell 4x32 $29.97 Bushnell 3-9x40 $54.97 Tasco 3-9x40 $31.97 I liked the ones that had the adjustable magnification power. It seems like I could start at the max zoom, then as I get better, pull the view out to increase the challenge. Assuming a $60-$70 budget, what would be a wise choice to mate with the Savage Mk2 bolt?
  24. To the OP, your GA HCP is valid in TN. Legally you're OK to carry and leave it loaded. Employment would depend on your workplace rules. My HCP instructor told us about a guy that bought a small lockbox/gun safe and bolted it into his trunk. Then stored his gun in there when he was at work, as the building was posted, but the parking lot was not. Then it was safe from being stolen if his car was broken into while he was at work.
