  1. [Accent=English] Well played, old man, well played. [/Accent]
  2. Really? According to Google Maps, it's about an hour and a half. I can be at SRHEC from Bellevue in 45 min. Is Google THAT far off? Danariel, if you're also looking for a shotgun range, the Tennesse Clay Target Complex is really good. It's located off Briley Pkwy on the west side of town near the prisons. They have a nice sporting clays setup, plus trap and skeet. I've never shot those 2 and I can never keep the difference between those two straight. Their sporting clays are scattered along a paved road that winds through some fields and tree lines. There are lots of different stations set up with 2 clay launchers that give different angles and elevations at each station. It used to be "pay for what you shoot". Now it looks like a set fee of $40 for 100 clays, or $9 for 25 trap/skeet. They took some heavy flooding in May, but the last time I drove by it looked liked they were back in business. http://www.nashvillegunclub.com/
  3. Call GnL and ask for Jeff, their gunsmith. He's a good guy.
  4. What constitutes the "weekend" for GnL? Friday or Saturday?
  5. Not if you join his Diamond plan at a very reasonable $1499.95. Then there are no more range fees.
  6. Sorry to hear that you went to Gun City. Nashville has much better ranges. +1 for Stones River Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - Stones River Hunter Education Center It's busy too, but if there's a wait, it's not usually very long. they have a lot of stations on both the handgun and rifle ranges. downside - Only open on the weekends (and Friday) GnL books the computer controlled range for the HCP classes, but not the standard range. They have a nice setup there, but weekends are definitely very busy. 5 lanes on each of those ranges. Someone more familiar with it than me may be able to say if the computer controlled range is blocked all day for HCP, or just the afternoon. right now, it's my indoor range of choice. During the week is a better time to go, IMO. Uselton's in Franklin is a VERY nice indoor range, but you'll pay for it. $15 for 30 minutes, plus you have to buy one box of ammo there. I seem to recall paying about $22 or so for a 50 box of 9mm. Uselton Arms Shooting Sports - Indoor Shooting Range - Franklin, TN
  7. Newsflash: Knoxville police break up crime ring. Discover it's just a Vols huddle. Four Vols players are in a car together. Who's driving? The police. A Vols player was arrested for stealing a police car. He saw "911" on the side and thought it was a Porsche. UT has hired a new defensive coordinator. Robert Shapiro starts Monday. What do a Vols fan and a medium pizza have in common? Neither can feed a family of four. <<puts on asbestos underwear for the upcoming flaming>> Now, back on topic....We'll let you keep UofM and the Tigers (since we don't have an MLB team), and we'll just feel sorry for you if you keep the Lions. But you can't keep the Wings. You have to switch to a Preds jersey. It's state law. And since I didn't say it earlier, welcome to Tennessee.
  8. For clarification for people who haven't been, there are 6" or so deep holes in the concrete with 4" or 5" diameter PVC pipe set in them. Sort of like big putt-putt golf holes. The legs of the frames just sit down in them. There is a set of holes for each lane at 5, 10, and 15 yards, then at 50'. So for Tim and crew to widen the frames to accomodate silhouettes, they'd have to chop out the concrete and move the holes. In addition to being expensive, it would also cause the frames to be closer to one another, or cause the loss of a few lanes to keep the spacing appropriate, which would require further expense in changing the firing bench and screens. Tim, have you, or would you perhaps consider changing the structure on some of the lanes, but not others? Like maybe on the last 5 lanes or something? That, along with range-sold silhouettes could give you a controlled way to reintroduce silhouettes and give you a feel for how much demand there is to determine if it's worth expanding it to additional lanes. Since I'm asking for the moon, why not go ahead and say that motorized target holders would be the best thing ever.... Keep up the good work. monkeylizard, a happy SRHEC customer.
  9. Come on guys. Don't be so hard on the Vols. They have several players in the honors program this year. "Yes, your honor. No, your honor." P.S. Go Dores!
  10. Some ranges require shooters to buy targets from the range. That's one way you could draw the line and keep silhouettes. Still allow the ones you do now, but for silhouettes we'd have to buy yours. I'd go for that, especially since you don't charge stupid crazy prices. Of course people would complain that they can't bring their own silhouettes . The frame size limits it anyway, and without rebuilding some stuff, it doesn't look like you can change that easily. Still, it's something I hope you might consider for down the road. I was one of your 346 last weekend. Me, D3vo, and another buddy had the place to ourselves. It was great. Keep up the good work.
  11. The "crying hot blonde with big boobs in a low cut top" myth still stands. Unless you're not telling the whole story.
  12. She needs to shave her legs. Seriously though, thanks for the help ladies (and TnRebel). That Galco with an LCP is exactly what I was thinking about.
  13. I don't think we can blame the Corps for this one. He says on his site that he has an eduction of 13 3/4 years. I wonder if that put him in the 4th or the 5th grade. Maybe I'll vote for him. In the off chance he wins, I'll have lifetime immunity from state prosecution. From his site: WHAT IMPORTANT: 1.Education a. School violents (maybe I gave those 13 3/4 years too much credit) b. Add reading of the minutes to the U.S.Congress mandatory (I'm at a loss as to what the reading of the US Congressional minutes has to do with education, or how a TN governor plans to enforce this. I guess it covers the "Readin" part of the 3 Rs.) c. Get more of the lottery money to 1-12 (I'm not sure if he's planning on screwing over kindergarteners, or if he means he wants the numbers 1-12 to come up in the powerball drawing more often. I'm thinking he may want to switch to scratch-offs.) 2.Equal Health care a. a free gift program (Dr.: "Mr. Anderson, I'm sorry to tell you this, but you have cancer. If you order your chemo-therapy today, we'll give you an additional treatment, absoultely free just pay shipping and handling. But wait there's more! If you order now, we'll also throw in a colostomy bag! Still not enough? Well if you call now, we'll sign you up with a lifetime subscription to the jelly of the month club. But in your condition, I don't think you'll get to try very many. That's two chemo treatments, a colostomy bag, and one, maybe two jars of jelly. All thanks to the State of Tennessee's new free gift program!") b. take a look at and redo all mandtory insurance programs (All one of them?) c. See why dental is not in most plans a tooth aches hurt more than a back aches and no teeths depresses people
  14. Is that confidence or what?
  15. RFID tags in individual items, as opposed to their common use on shipping containers, pallets, or cartons is game changing. 1) Inventory: Barcode scanning doesn't allow for instant inventory tracking due to loss. I know I brought in 100 of item X, and I sold 40 through the cash registers. I should have 60 remaining on my shelves. But I really only have 57 due to 2 thefts and one that passed a register and didn't get scanned by the cashier. No more cycle counts. RFID gives instant scan capability for the whole store. 2) Placement: The retailer can know if customers are picking up item A in one location, but then putting it down in another, perhaps then picking up item B. They can then see that product B is preferred over product A, but A is in a more visible spot. You can't see that with barcodes, since you only know that the customer eventually purchased B. 3) Checkout: Get a cart, wander all around the cavernous Wally World filling it with WWB ammo, action DVDs, nacho cheese, a hoodie, and steaks. Then you take it all out of the cart and place each item on the conveyor belt. Then each one is individually scanned and placed in a bag. Then the bag is put back in the cart. What if the cart could tell you exactly how much your purchase was as you added each item? And what if you simply pushed your cart to a check out station, or through a scanning arch, that can "see" every item in the cart (or in a jacket pocket) without them being removed? UPC can't do that. RFID can.
  16. I gotta hand it to that guy. He really knows how to hammer home an instructional safety bulletin.
  17. What's that doctor doing with a pound of ground chuck in the E.R.?
  18. I'm a big fan of the Eat This Not That books. They show substitutes from the grocery store or restaurants. Some simple substitutes can save 100's of calories and/or dozens of fat grams in a single meal. They recognize that I'm going to eat ice cream, but once I see the difference in some of the brands on the nutrition side, I can make better choices. I get regular e-mail updates from ETNT via Men's Health. It has helped a lot to keep my cholesterol in check. and my weight where I want it to be. Another site that has lots of restaurant nutritional info, along with the Weight Watchers point value for each dish. Eye opening.... 19. Actually, they aren't so big that you couldn't carry it. they make a shorter barreled one called The Judge: Public Defender. But they're both a poor choice for carry, at least with the .410 shells. Check out the test results from The Box-O-Truth. The .45 Colt looks like it would be fine for that, and you could use the .410 shells for something besides self defense, like clays, or those things with no legs. 21. Just so I'm clear that my TiVo didn't screw me over: The first hour was the regular Deadliest Catch show and the second hour was After the Catch. It wasn't 2 hours of Deadliest Catch, right?
  22. I forgot about Buca di Beppo. Great spaghetti and meatballs.
