This. Plus only a small percentage actually has a permit to begin with. The odds of an armed citizen being in position to stop an active shooter aren't great. IF there happens to be one nearby, you have to factor in btq96r's point about mindset and their willingness to engage and their ability to put lead on target. The odds of all those things happening are not high.

FYI - Not every location takes appointments.

When a business has double doors and I'm walking in through one and people going the other way stand outside the other door waiting for me to and my posse to get through. Just open the other door and go about your business. More of a "WTF?" than a pet peeve since it really doesn't impact me at all. But on the subject of businesses with double doors . . . why do some bozos unlock one but not the other? That's an irritant for sure when I reach for a door and it's locked only to find the one adjoining it is unlocked.

I have paper wasps on mine sometimes (the red ones) but they don't drink THAT much. Lately the wasps have been more interested in the water in the ant moat than the nectar in the "flowers". The hummingbirds definitely don't like the wasps. We've had some birds this year, but not as many as last year. Ours tend to arrive later than most. I never see any before June and they tend to hang around until the first cold snap. They get pretty scarce from late June through early July. I've heard it's because that's when the babies hatch and they're busy feeding them bugs instead of slurping down the nectar. They've gotten more active over the past week, esp. early morning and the last 2 to 3 hours before sunset. Hopefully we'll get a bunch more. We usually get a lot in September.

Look at it this way..... at some point your DL renewal WILL be a Lifetime renewal.
-
^THIS^ Renewal every 8 is just something else to forget to do esp if a renewal notice from TDOS gets lost in the mail. If I could get lifetime license plates I'd do that too.

A person with good aim acting in self-defense against 3+ home invaders would also count.
-
They also don't separate crime-related shootings from nut-job shootings. So if 3 or more gang bangers shoot each other over a drug deal, that counts as a "mass shooting". Or something more in the grey area like a bank robbery with 3+ shot that also counts. But neither of those scenarios are the same, psychologically, as the seemingly random-victim nature of yesterday's parade shooting, Buffalo, Uvalde, Las Vegas country music fest, the DC snipers, etc.

Yeah, 32 years for the payback. But with the Lifetime the hassle factor goes to zero.
-
I ponied up for the Lifetime at my first renewal to make all the timing with the DL moot. I ran the math out on it an it probably won't save me money (or if it does, not for a long time) but it does save me hassle and I like to keep my life simple so it was well worth it.

That's not what the revised law says. This new bill has 2 changes to 39-17-1366 and only applies to Concealed Carry Permits. It has nothing to do with the Enhanced or Lifetime Enhanced permits. Those are covered under 39-17-1351. The first is about the 4-year background check. This creates a whole new paragraph in 3917-1366. Each paragraph is a stand-alone item unless it specifically references back to another paragraph (like para k and L referring back to para. b about training) or clarifies for the entire section like a definition in ( n ). Since it makes no mention of any fees, I presume the Concealed Carry Permit holder won't be charged for this 4-year BG check. Either way, this only applies to Concealed Carry Permit Holders. Enhanced and Lifetime Enhanced are not subject to this 4-year BG check. The second is to paragraph ( j ) which will now have the new section 3 prescribing a $50 renewal for Concealed Carry Permits. TDOS was already charging a $50.00 renewal fee, so this changes nothing. For some reason or another it was decided that codifying the fee in TCA was needed. On the upside, TDOS can't raise the fee later w/o an act of the legislature to update section 3.
-
The way I read it, the 4-year background check is a whole new section in 39-17-1366, unrelated to renewals. TDOS will do the 4-year background checks behind the scenes and we'll never be involved unless it comes back with something and they revoke the permit. This will be done for all Concealed Carry Permit holders. The $50 fee is already what TDOS charges for CCP renewals. This law change sets that amount in the renewals paragraph j of 39-17-1366 and makes it more official, I guess?

Probably just a drivers' meeting. Big E looks like he'll steal your wallet. The King looks like he'll steal your woman.

Found another one: midwayweapons.com Trying to look like Midway USA. The broken-English bot product reviews are a dead give away.

Wishful Firearms Legislation
monkeylizard replied to Defender's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I'm pretty sure it happened several years back in Memphis. I think it was a motorcycle dealership (Kawasaki?) which had just been robbed or something and they had pretty blatant and obvious signage up afterwards and the owner was super spooked about guns. Those details may not be exact. Going on a few years now but I seem to recall it was a unique one-off case for sure. I think it was discussed here on TGO for a short time. I don't think anyone every reported back here with the outcome so I don't know if the guy was convicted or not. -
AR ammo prices at lowest now or wait
monkeylizard replied to JustEd's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Hate to tell you this, but our .gov already does this. -
https://coltgunsusa.com and https://coltmunition.com They have every Colt imaginable in-stock (yeah right) and at prices from 3 years ago. Zelle and crypto. https://coltgunstore.com Similar to the above (all in stock, low prices) but you can't add to cart unless you register. No thanks.

Mine are always late arrivals and late departures. I put my feeders up at in mid April and change the food out every 5 days when it's cool and 3 days when it's hot. I never saw any until just before Memorial Day. I've had 3 or 4 different ones (a couple of females and at least one male), usually one at a time but I've seen one or two fights when 2 showed up at once. Mine will probably be more active over the next few weeks. They tend to hang around 3 to 4 weeks after lots of other people in my area post that theirs are gone, sometimes all the way up to a few days after the first frost in October/November. With two feeders up, I've had as many as 6 birds t a time. That's when they get fun

They already know that and they don't have to explain it. They just have to make it happen. It's the "low hanging fruit" that makes the next step easier . . . then the next . . . and the next

Strong prices at an auction in Santa Fe

It was a wooden stock model, but yeah . . . plain Jane Mini-14. Auction fever. -

If you have the space for it, the sliding saws are better than non-sliding saws. You can cut much wider lumber. The downside of course is they take up more depth on a workbench to allow for the slider bars out the back. Dual bevel is a nice to have but not necessary, IMO. It allows you to flip your angles without turning/pivoting the lumber as much.
