  1. I'm not a VIP member there and my order shipped the next business day. I suspect it would have gone the same day had I not ordered so late in the day on Friday. Are VIP members' orders processed ahead of non-VIP? Sure. Do they want more people to pay $25 to get not much of anything? Yes. Did bigwakes get lousy service from John? Absolutely. But to take that and suggest that Bud's is intentionally and systematically engaging in dishonest business practices is a bit of a stretch with what we have to go on here.
  2. bigwakes, that's odd. If it's in stock, I wonder why so long for shipping. It can't be because they're backed up right now in shipping. I ordered something on Friday late in the day. It shipped today and is on track to be at my FFL tomorrow. You were treated poorly. There's no excuse for that. Ever.

  4. "For once, it wasn't his own head up his ass."
  5. And no guns. That really seals it up for the bank robber. Even if they allowed his hat, sunglasses, and skimask, he'd have a hard time robbing the place without his piece. Better go down the road a ways.
  6. He was interviewed on 60 minutes tonight and there was a nice article in the Tennessean today. The definition of the word "hero". And like so many others, he doesn't consider himself one.
  7. That depends on what/who you want to secure them from. If you're keeping long guns in a wooden cabinet, then you're not worried about theft, so I'll assume you want to keep little fingers away. Most any locking box would do the trick. Maybe something like this? Amazon.com: Homak® In - the - Wall Gun Safe: Sports & Outdoors It's made for long guns, but screwing some hooks on the back plate would let you hang quite a few handguns in there. It won't keep a burglar with a crowbar out, but it would do the trick to keep kids out. Pretty much what a wooden cabinet does. and you can't beat the space that it takes up. None.
  8. +1 for a semi-busy parking lot in the daytime. It only takes a couple of minutes to look over the gun(s) and fill out the form. +1 to OC for the occasion. -10 bazillion for your own home.
  9. This was my first show. I enjoyed it, but don't have anything to compare it to. I found several small items I've been looking for (slings, case, etc), but no super-awesome deals on anything.
  10. well, if everyone is going to be hiding in caves and rocks, might as well do it in style.

  13. I wasn't sure if this should go in Suvrival & Preparedness, Zombie Apocalypse, or if we need a new category called WINNING!LA Porn Studio Begins Construction On ‘Post-Apocalyptic’ Underground Bunker « CBS Los Angeles
  14. Well, if the "area" is defined as "Hendersonville", then yeah, that's probably true. I'll probably try to go out there Saturday.
  15. Someone's still watching Sons of Guns?
  16. Their Goldbox Deal of the Day is a Wild Game Innovations 6.0 MP camera in Realtree APG cammo for $89.99. Seems like a decent price if anyone is looking for one. Good for today only until they run out. Amazon.com Gold Box: New Deals. Every Day.
  17. Be sure to start the call to the ATF with "Um...I have this friend..."
  18. Right, but what the OP is about is if the buyer can be the courier, not the seller. There may be legal ways to do it, but it certainly goes against the spirit of the law, which is to keep the firearm out of the buyer's hands until the proper paperwork is done.
  19. No. Technically the FFL has to be the middle man in between the buyer and the seller (or giver and giftee if you're lucky ). So the gun has to be returned to the current GA owner, then delivered to a TN FFL (either personally by him/her, or via courier/mail). The FFL will do the paperwork and then you can get the handgun from the FFL. If the GA resident is coming up for a visit some time, you could continue to hold on to it as a "loaner" until that happens. Then you both can take it to a local TN FFL for the transfer.
  20. I'm picturing some mall ninja with brown pegboard sections zip-tied on to a tac-vest.....
  21. Oooh. I learn something new every day, and this is my item for today. Good to know.
  22. The bronze membership would be $100 with the groupon instead of the usual $200. Then it's $10 for each range visit and buying a box of his ammo each trip ($22+ for some FMJ 9mm, anyone?). If it wasn't for the ammo requirement, it would be somewhat reasonable. $10 per visit isn't bad, and $100/year for some exclusivity on a well built, well maintained, and not over crowded indoor range isn't bad either. If I lived closer, I'd probably seriously consider it. It really is a nice range. I can go to G&L or N-Range for about the same price without the membership or ammo requirements, but they're further away and G&L gets busy in the peak hours. Or for 10 more minutes in the car and $40/year, I can get pistol, rifle, and shotgun time at Charlie's place. Still, it's a fairly good deal for folks in the Franklin area.
  23. Here's how I'd go from Dickson: East on 70 to White Bluff Left onto Hwy 47 (Charles Speight Hwy) Split Right onto Hwy 250 (Claylick Rd) Come up Hwy 250 into CWMA, then right onto Griffintown road. That's right by Grumpy's market if it's still there. It's a really sharp right, almost a full U-turn onto Griffintown Rd. Split left onto Headquarters Rd and the range is on the left.
  24. nicemac beat me to it. I was just about to post that link. The irony in that photo is priceless. Who wants to take odds that there's satellite or cable hooked up to that LCD TV?
