  1. Am I the only one with "Bad Bad Leroy Brown" stuck in his head?
  2. Nah, we can't have that. That would make sense. We can't have logic getting in the way of gun laws.
  3. You don't tug on Superman's cape...
  4. The Clay Target complex on Briley is great for clays, but they don't have a paper target range. Charlie allows them at CHMR. He just asks that you not shoot the OSB/Plywood. He'll setup cardboard stands for shottys. Call ahead and make sure he's got some on hand and that an area is available that he'll allow them.
  5. I talked to Charlie about this the last time I was down at CHMR. I have a shotty I need to pattern for turkeys. He said no problem. Just call ahead and make sure the upper range isn't in use. That's the small one up by his house. If it's available, then he'll setup some cardboard to shoot at. He just asked that shottys not be used on the OSB/Plywood since it's more expensive and the shot tears it up pretty quick.
  6. Channel 5 basically read the Tennessean article at the 10pm news. I guess they can't do their own reporting except to interview Chris Tenpenny at Nashville Sporting Arms to get a supporting opinion. Man Opposes 'Gun Show Loophole' - NewsChannel5.com | Nashville News, Weather & Sports
  7. Someone needs to teach Gail and her ed. the difference between "duel" and "dual". Bob does make me think of an interesting question. If we could get constitutional carry, but to get that we'd have to do the TICS check on all private sales, is that a deal you would make?

  9. I stand by my disclaimer. Thanks guys. This continues to reinforce my belief that I'd be really bad at crime.
  10. This may be a stupid question, but isn't evidence used to connect a person with a crime? So the OP tells the responding officer "I shot that dude in my living room when he broke in on me while I was eating popcorn and watching some really interesting threads on TGO. Are you a TGO member? No? You should join. It's great." What need is there for evidence to connect the OP to the shooting? There's a dead body and a confession. I mean, is CSI going to show up next and dust the OP's house to find his fingerprints to place him at the scene? He just confessed to the shooting. I fully understand that in the real world, the gun may or may not be confiscated. I'm just curious as to why it would be needed as "evidence" in a case like this?
  11. True, but I keep other stuff in my safe too. Family photos, important documents, digital media, and other stuff like that that's not covered under insurance and is a pain to replace if it's even possible to do so.
  12. Too funny not to share. San Jose police: Man who caused post office shutdown was jogger in unusual gear - San Jose Mercury News
  13. Nashville Sporting Arms has that angle covered. They're in a small strip that has a liquor store. NSA is on the left end. Google Maps "Women like a man that drinks and shoots firearms" -Unknown Hinson-
  14. FYI - Lowe's had a deal on a couple of Centurions this weekend. I think the sale goes through Sunday.
  15. Because nobody cares what the finish looks like when you're using it to knock off a Stop-N-Rob. Besides, it will just get messed up when you throw it in the river afterwards anyway.
  16. Lowes is the best. Their sale started on-line on Wednesday at 11:00pm our time. I picked out what I wanted (all items from the sales ad were on line), chose in-store pickup and paid online, then showed up late this morning with my order number. 5 minutes later I'm headed to the car with a pre-loaded cart of my stuff.
  17. A TWRA agent stopped by the hunter Ed class I attended a month or so ago. He said one problem they're having with hogs is that people were still importing them for hunting. He said that played into the decision too.
  18. I have an M&P MOE (black) and I'm very happy with it. My first AR and so far it likes the cheap stuff just fine. It's more accurate than I am. I tossed on a Primary Arms M3 red dot and a grip-pod and called it done. With their cantilevered mount for the M3 there's still room for their 5x magnifier and the MBUS rear site.
  19. Metal needs to start a "How to publically apologize on a web forum for poor customer service" training manual. That's how it's done. Precision should get a complimentary signed 1st edition.
  20. Put it in an even bigger box.
  21. What's a backpack filter? <<n00b question, I know>>
  22. I think Season 1 was better than Season 2. They built more stuff in 1, but had to roam around more in 2 which added something. All in all, Season 2 seemed too much like sitting around waiting for help/end of the experiement to arrive.
  23. I went looking for the answer to that and found this NASA site telling how they photograph from space. It's far more complex than I thought. They also say that if the lights are mercury vapor, the cities will appear blue-green, while sodium vapor will yield yellow-orange. NASA - Cities at Night: An Orbital Perspective
  24. I've always thought of asteroids as gray or brown, maybe even black, but never rouge.
  25. It is indeed the Pakistan/India border. The ISS is facing more or less eastward and is over southwestern Pakistan or southern Afghanistan looking towards India. It glows because both sides light it up so they can keep an eye on the other guys. The bright blob on the right is Karachi on the coast to the south. The bright yellow glob on the left on the near side of the border but right up close to it is Lahore. The spot 45 degrees up and right of Lahore on the India side is probably New Delhi. The lights on the Pakistan side follow the Indus river.
