It's the language in ©(1)© that still confuses me. Is it saying that the exemption only applies to the driver? Is it saying that the exemption only applies while the vehicle is being operated, so the exemption does not apply if the vehicle is exited?

Nah, get the M1911 rigged directly to the arm. It may not be as practical as the hook in day to day life, but it would look super awesome at the range. Seriously though, it depends on if you plan on carrying an extra mag or not. If not, then I don't see any reason why a rock-solid reliable semi is really any different than a wheel gun. Sure it could jam and need to be cleared, but the odds of it happening during a defensive shoot are super low if you know the gun is reliable (1000+ rounds at a range and no FTF/FTE issue) and well maintained. I know that may not be a popular opinion, but it's worth what was paid for it. For that kind of reliable, I'm thinking of makes/models that have withstood serious torture tests, like Glock, XD, and M&P, though I'm sure others exist.

It's less regulated because (a) more people want to drink than shoot, and ( it brings in a lot more tax revenue than guns and ammo. Annual alcohol excise taxes are measured in billions. Guns and ammo excise taxes are measured in millions.

I'm pretty sure Chicago and Washington D.C. have had it for several years. On the surface it seems like a pretty good idea. There's no legitimate legal reason to be firing a gun in these areas and not need the police to arrive. It may be self-defense, but you still want the cops to come. The article cites a 90% drop in gun violence in Nassau County, NY. I'd like to know if that violence just went elsewhere, or was perpetrated using other means. If stabbing increased over the same time period, then the results may not look so great. I would also want to know what the system's capabilities are. I know it's calibrated to detect gunfire's unique acoustic signatures, but could it be used to eavesdrop on conversations? Tuned to pick up certain targeted persons' voices to eavesdrop on them or to track them? Listen for key words? If so, what are the safeguards in place to prevent that from ever being implemented? Any time the government implements a system that can monitor the public, it's worth asking these questions.

The XDsc is larger than the Glock 26/27. They are about the same length, but the slide on the XDsc is a little taller and the grip is noticably longer. The XDsc is also about 6oz. heavier. I have an XDsc in .40. It's a good gun and I shoot it well, but for carrying, I'd rather have the G26/27. The XDsc is now a nightstand gun with the extended mag in it.

awww.... I was kind of hoping this might go on for another few weeks to see where else it might end up, especially since you already got the replacement item. I use USPS for packages when I really don't care how long it takes. I shipped a package to a friend in Switzerland a few weeks ago. It cost me about $7 with USPS. UPS's cheapest rate was about $122 and FedEx's was $107. Sure UPS or FedEx would have it delivered in about 3 days and it's going on the 3rd week with USPS and it's still not there, but in this case speed wasn't an issue.

I picked up my EvaDry at The Safe House in Nashville. He also has the desiccate bags. If you don't have any place local that carries the EvaDry, Amazon has them and most qualify for free shipping. I have the EVA 333 in a 25 gun safe. It's more than enough. I only have to plug it in every 2 months or so. It dries out in about 6 hours while plugged in, but I always leave it overnight just to be sure. A really big safe might use an EVA 500.

My EvaDry was only about $20 or so. Easier than baking the bagged stuff.

I've used the little green metal Ortho Ant-B-Gone bait things from Home Depot with good success for inside ants. Just put one or two along the trail they use on your countertop/floor and wait a couple of days. They'll start becoming fewer in number after 2 or 3 days, then gone completely within a week.

I have an LCP. I don't like the long trigger pull but it's a good gun. I have almost 250 fmj and 30 jhp through it with no failures at all. The only issue I have had is that occasionally I will hit the mag release with my thumb while shooting. My wife hates it. She says it hurts her hand with its recoil. I picked up a kahr pm9 and now the LCP just sits around.

I started marking bills in the Fall of 2007. So far I have marked 248 bills and have had 29 bills hit with a total of 32 hits (some bills get more than one hit). So about a 10% success rate for me. I used to mark them more regularly, now, not so much. I try to mark all my cash before traveling. That way I don't end up with matches 30 miles away. It's kind of a let down to see an email that I got a hit, then to find out it was at a gas station in Hendersonville.

Correct on the Bill of Sale. It's not necessary from a legal perspective as far as the transfer of ownership goes. But it shows that the firearm changed hands and on what date. Checking a DL isn't just the age and state, it also shows that the person is who they say they are. Does the name/address they gave you on the Bill of Sale match the DL? If not, something's not right. Some sellers will require an HCP for an FTF sale. It serves the same purpose as a DL, and it also tells the seller that the buyer isn't a felon or otherwise prohibited from owership (at least they weren't when the HCP was issued). An HCP is about as close to going to a shop and having an FFL do the background check as you can get without actually going to the FFL.
