  1. I have one from Primary Arms. It's plenty bright in daylight. Very pleased with it.
  2. Stones River handgun is adjustable at 5, 10, and 15 yards, and 50 feet. Rifle is adjustable at 10, 25, 50, and 100 yards, plus two 200 yard only lanes. Targets have to be non-silhouette targets unless you buy some from them. I'm glad they added that option, but their silhouette targets suck. Mostly because the posts of the target frames are spaced too close together for a normal sized silhouette target. Stick to dinner-plate sized round targets or smaller and you'll be fine. Charlie has been working on a longer range up by the house for a while, I know he was looking at 200 or 300 yards for it, but I don't know that it's open.
  3. Agreed. P90X switches from 6 days a week to (IIRC) 3 once you have reached your target weight/tone/BMI. And I think they are shorter workouts, but I'm not sure. It switches from change mode to maintenance mode. Power 90 us indeed less intense. It's Power90 then P90X, then P90X2. I hear that X2 will punish even P90X graduates.
  4. Here's a link for the Hunter Safety course from the TWRA: http://www.state.tn.us/twra/huntered.html I did mine at Donelson Christian and it was excellent. I'm sure the on-line course is fine, but in-person has a lot of value. They'll go over the license requirements as part of the course as well as talk about hunting on public land vs. private.
  5. Do the test at the beginning to see if you're ready for P90X. It's important. Get a heart rate monitor if you start it, especially for the cardio stuff. I can't stress this enough...go slow at the beginning. No matter how easy you think you're taking it, you're probably still overdoing it the first few times. Tony Horton is a great motivator. He'll make you want to push out more reps, espec. when the girl in the video is doing more than you are. DON'T DO IT. Give it time. After my first run at the first video (chest and arms), I slept for maybe 2 hours a night for about 3 or 4 nights due to the pain in my triceps. I really thought I hade torn something, but it was just extreme tightness from over exertion. The nutrition is very important. I'd reccomend starting the nutrition plan 3 or more days before trying the first workout. It will help get your body properly fueled for an intense workout. You don't need their expensive supplements/shakes/etc. Do some googleing to find some DIY mixes that are a lot cheaper and have the same/similar content. For example: http://muscleathome.com/p90x-recovery-drink-alternative/
  6. I always thought of Bill as the kind of guy that would be a lot of fun to hang out with for a weekend, but to whom you'd never mention that you have a sister.
  7. You got it, Mike. http://www.technologyreview.com/blog/helloworld/27695/
  8. I'd hate to be the guy in the hat.
  9. Another benefit is that propane and natural gas burn a lot cleaner in the engine. The engine should last longer and need less maintenance vs running it on gas.
  10. Unless the range rules state otherwise, yes.
  11. If we could just get them all to turn themselves in for $100.
  12. Davidson is split into 2 districts, Urban Services and General Services. Nashville Municipal Code 11.12.080 (A) says discharging a firearm in the urban services is a no-no, but © makes an exception for hunting, even in the urban services district. So hunting in all of Davidson county is legal during daylight hours so long as all other safety requirements are met (distance from a dwelling, not across or from a road, etc.) It's hard to imagine a place in the urban services district where those conditions could be met, though. But the OP said he was in the general services district, where there's still quite a lot of open land in some areas. Thank you, Cumberland River. Personally, 10 yards is a little too close to a roadway for me, esp. if your vehicle is close by, but it's the TWRA agent's call that matters.
  13. I do all of my "penny-in-a-bottle" tricks with a steam roller.
  14. Only in the urban services district. If your property is in the rural services district, firing a firearm is not banned during daylight hours. All other public safety caveats apply.
  15. Metalhead posted saying he might have some in tomorrow http://www.tngunowne...__fromsearch__1
  16. I saw the story. Rock Center is supposed to be an in-depth news show, not snippets like the evening news. They had plenty of time to describe and demonstrate what the detractors claim to be the actual problem with Remington's trigger group, but they didn't. If Tom Butters is so convinced that the trigger group is faulty, why didn't he demonstrate a failure? That was the most disappointing part. Yes, each case of injury or death violated at least 2 of the 10 commandments. They even commented on that. But they also made the point to say that it shows even experienced sportsmen can make a mistake. I thought they did a decent job at the end in the studio of clarifying that none of the people they featured wanted more government regulation of the industry, and that they all admitted they had some responsibility in the accidents. They also showed that it's not a widespread problem by talking with the guy that runs the clay target range, and by citing how many millions of guns Remington has produced with this part group and just how few accidents there are that claim to be related to the problem. In the end though, lack of a demonstration of the reported flaw made it look more like a drive-by piece against Remington. I can guarantee it will hurt their sales. After the story my wife asked if we have any of those. Nope, and because of this, I won't. Partly because I'd never really trust it, but mostly because my wife is now going to ask about every long gun that comes in the door "Is that one of those that was on Rock Center?" I just don't want to have to deal with that.
  17. Someone mentioned George "Goober" Lindsey earlier. We go to the same barber shop, so I'll see him a couple of times a year as our paths cross. Come to think of it, I haven't seen him for about a year now. I hope he's doing well. Some of the barbers at the shop have changed, so maybe he's going some place else now.
  18. I met Sonny Shroyer (Enos from Dukes of Hazard) when I was bout 4. I have a picture from that. Then I met him again a few years ago, so now I have pictures of me taken with him about 30 years apart. He has aged, but not 30 years. He's like Dick Clark....keeps looking younger. I met pretty much the entire cast of Happy Days almost 30 years ago. We were stationed at Kadena AFB on Okinawa and they came over for a USO sponsored celebrity softball game. That was pretty cool. Not TV, but I got to have dinner with World Series MVP Bobby Richardson of the '55-'66 Yankees. He also came over to Kadena, but this was for a chapel thing. He came over to share his personal testimony with the troops. He's a popular Christian speaker and big in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. My dad was a chaplain, so he managed to get himself assigned to Mr. Richardson while he was visiting. Dinner was just him, my dad, brother, and me at the Officers' Club on base. I have a ball and glove signed by him and personalized to me. I was only 5 or 6 at the time of both Bobby Richardson and the Happy Days cast. I wish I could have had those experiences later when I could really understand them more and appreciate them.
  19. Usually a Kahr PM9. Sometimes an LCP and sometimes an XDsc .40.
  20. You just missed a big one at Shiloh. A friend of mine was in that one. He's normally a grey, but had to don the blue for this one.
  21. You don't bring an axe to a gun fight, no matter how badass it makes you look on a motor scooter.
  22. Personally, I couldn't hit any clays with a Mossy HD 18.5" shotty that I tried once. That could have been the choke more than the length though. I don't know what it was choked with. My advice, try both guns. You'll settle in to one over the other pretty quickly, or maybe you'll like one for skeet and one for trap.
  23. It makes it crystal clear that it can't be deducted on Schedule A (presumably of Form 1040). That doesn't mean there's not some other form in the complex IRS library where you could deduct it.
  24. Since you're in Green Hills, you'd be violating both state law (killing the snake) and Metro ordinance of discharging a firearm inside an Urban Services district. I vote for "let it live". Ask her if she'd rather have the snake out by the rock wall, or mice scurrying up inside the walls and in the attic.
