  1. Maybe David can update us on their status of becoming a TGO Vendor. I prefer to spend my money at shops that support TGO.
  2. He and Jesse and Farakhan and the New Black Panthers are better served by keeping it one step removed from full on open violence. A full on race war will have an ending, one way or another. This stuff they're pulling can be kept up indefinitely....and so can the revenue stream from it. they keep a can of gas in one hand and a fire extinguisher in the other.
  3. Thanks for the tip. I'll try to remember that the next time I need a good lead on some Colombian hookers.
  4. Any recommendations on an intermediate to advanced defensive handgun training class in middle TN? I've done the HCP class and am a decent shot standing still on a range. I want to take a course at the next level. Something that works on shooting on the move, using cover, rapid reloading, drawing from a concealed holster, etc.
  5. nicemac mentioned somewhere on here (maybe it was in a PM) that the one he built has Charlie's blessing, so it's the official one. It's also current. The "ridethatbike" one has outdated info on it.
  6. That's the old site. Here's the new one: http://chmr.us/CHMR/Home.html Closed every Thursday and the first FULL weekend of every month.
  7. You're in the 'boro and went all the way to Cheatham WMA? Definitiely try Stones River and CHMR. Both are closer and much better organized. More yahoos at Stones River than at CHMR, but there are usually plenty of RSOs keeping an eye on them. <<edit>> I see you know SRHEC. Try CHMR.
  8. Welcome to Nashville, and sorry you had to visit Vandy's ER your 1st week here. In Vandy's defense, they are one of, if not the, busiest ERs in the city. You don't always see the activity happening in an ER. Vandy is the place to go for trauma and for their children's hospital. They're tops in both and are the only level-1 trauma unit in the area. That's where the Life-Flight helicopters usually go. That said, I don't go to Vandy for anything if I can help it. You basically have 5 reasonable options from Brentwood, and your choice may depend on what part of Brentwood you are in. St. Thomas (my personal choice) Williamson County Medical Center Southern Hills Centennial Baptist If you're along Old Hickory Blvd. (aka OHB) west of I-65 near Hillsboro Pike and Harpeth Hills golf course, St. Thomas is your closest. Take OHB west until it dead-ends into Hwy 100. Turn right. That takes you directly to St. Thomas which will be on your left. If you're closer to I-65, there are closer options, but if you want St. Thomas then you can take I-65N to I-440W then exit at West End Ave. westbound. St. Thomas will be on your right. Williamson County Medical Center is directly south on I-65 at the main Franklin Exit (Hwy 96). I have no experience with them, but it seems like they may be less busy than the Nashville centers. If you're on the southern end of Brentwood towards Cool Springs, that's the closest ER. If you're on the east side of Brentwood (aka Brentioch), then Southern Hills is the closest. It's in a not-so-great part of town, but they advertise themselves as having some of the lowest wait times in their ER. Centennial and Baptist are not far from Vandy. Just a little bit closer to downtown. Typical large hospital complexes. From the OHB exit on I-65, Southern Hills and Williamson County Med. are about equal distance, with St. Thomas being about 5-10 minutes further. The usual rush-hour traffic disclaimers apply. <<Edit fer spellin' and other stuff>>
  9. I vote for the pink "Hello Kitty" one. Then post some pics.
  10. Why does this make me think of Borat?
  11. TNT has already started round 1 of the reruns, but have no fear. They will start again from the beginning on June 8th at 11:30p Central with Live and Learn. They are playing a new episode every night and will be playing Silent Kill tonight at 11:30p Central. The time of each episode varies from 11:00p central to 12:30a central. Presumably, Eight Hours will play right before the season premier of Season 2, but my TiVo guide doesn't reach that far into the future. The correct episode order is as follows: Live and Learn The Armory Prisoner of War Grace Silent Kill Sanctuary 1 Sanctuary 2 What Hides Beneath Mutiny Eight Hours
  12. 2 hour premier June 17th at 9p Eastern/8p Central On the Law & Order Channel*. * that's TNT
  13. Maybe find a way to put on one of those coffee-can exhaust tips that seem to be standard issue on '92 Civics. Your AR could sound like it drank the water in Acapulco.
  14. You know how they always say "but it's a dry heat" about Arizona? They never say that about Tennessee. <<former Tucsonian here>>
  15. Right. I see trucks around town for Travis Electric, Harris Electric, and of course Lee Company. Try any of them and see if they'll donate to the cause.
  16. you could stop by the NES facility off of Centennial Blvd. Ask the gate guard about it. He could see if they'll give you any. Calling the main NES Cust Svc. number will get you nowhere. NES service facility: 1200 63rd Avenue North, Nashville, TN
  17. You said you like the XD and XDm, but didn't like the lighter weight of the Glock. Glocks are a little bit lighter than a comparable XD, but not so much that I can tell a lot of difference on the range. If you were shooting a 9mm or .45 XD and comparing that to a .40 Glock, the difference in felt recoil is probably more in the round than the weight of the gun. The .40 is considered by some to be a snappy round. I have an XD in .40 and while I'm plenty accurate with it, it does produce more felt recoil than a similar Glock in .45 or in 9mm. My wife shoots 9mm and can handle .45, but hates shooting the .40. You may want to give Glock another chance in a different caliber before striking it off your list. If it's going to serve double duty as a range gun and a carry gun, then the pocket guns like Ruger's LCP or the Kel-Tec P3AT should be off the list. They're hard on most people's hands after a few magazines. Your own size makes a difference too. If you're 5'3" and 98lbs soaking wet, a full-sized 1911 will be a challenge, but if you're built like The Big Show, it will all but disappear. Look at both single-stack and double-stack guns. Double-stacks will hold more rounds, while single-stacks are thinner and easier to conceal. You'll also need to decide if a thumb safety is important to you or not. Glocks and XDs don't have them. Smith M&Ps have them as an option. 1911s have them. I chose the XD for my first carry gun over a Glock mostly due to the grip-safety on the XD. It's now a nightstand gun and I carry something with no external safeties. It's a matter of what you're comfortable with. A model made in multiple calibers will hold more rounds in the 9mm model, followed by .40, then .45 with the fewest. You have to decide between more holes or bigger holes in the bad guy.
  18. Don't forget that the homelessness is cured by engaging in said capitalism by selling newspapers . . . /sarc /irony
  19. Don't feel bad. I would have never noticed the parking lot entrance signs if someone on here hadn't mentioned them. I did notice the doors though, and that none of the dept. store entrances are posted. But the parking lot osts make all that moot anyway.
  20. Wow...I'd like a copy of that PM.
  21. Maybe. I seem to recall reading an AG opinion on the matter that you may have that backwards. The building doesn't cease to be a church and become a school, rather it is a school all the time, including when it's used solely as a church. I may be mis-rembering that though. I'm pretty sure that the school no-no only applies if it's a school certified by the state for elementary or higher. If it's a pre-school, it's all good. As for carrying in church, I always do. I used to do some ride-alongs with some USAF Security Police officers when I was in Civil Air Patrol. They sponsored our cadet unit. Anyway, I remember riding with a K-9 unit and him telling me that the domestic disputes are their worst calls, because they never know what they're going to walk in to. Is it a simple screaming match, or is someone in a murderous rage? I figure that in my life, I'm most likely to get caught up in someone else's domestic dispute at work or at church. A marriage goes bad and one party blames the church that either "stole my wife/husband" or "failed to save my marriage." It happened at the church my wife grew up in. A guy decided that if he couldn't have his wife, then no one would. Killed her, then himself. Nothing could have stopped that, but if he had decided to shoot the place up before offing himself, then maybe there's time to react and try to stop it.
  22. BrasilNuts plus bkelm18 has it right. After that limited list of "always no-go places", any property that is properly posted is also off limits. Churches, restaurants with alcohol, etc. still have to post if they want to. Properly posted means a gunbuster or text with specific language that you'll see in the law linked below. Some parking lots are posted. That makes them off-limits too. It doesn't have to be the building entrance itself You may see some old signage in some restaurants stating it's a felony to carry a firearm where alcohol is served. Those are old signs. Ignore them. The same goes for "no firearms" signs at the entrance to some state parks. The parks say they don't have the money to replace all their signs, so they were allowed to stay. They will be updated once they need to be replaced. The current TN laws can be found here. Drill down to 39-17-1359 for the posting information. http://www.lexisnexis.com/hottopics/tncode/
  23. It's probably more accurate to say it was the first bad decision their frineds knew about. Fine, upstanding, intelligent, good people don't just up and decide to knock off a convenience store and beat the clerk with guns as their first foray into bad decision making.
  24. I have used H&K for some things. I really like them. It's owned/operated by a family from Korea. Everyone I've dealt with there is honest, hard working, and takes pride in their work. 361-8455 I also hear good things about Tim Leeper roofing.
