For turkeys, it's supposed to help. Their heads are nothing but beak and eyeballs. Every little advantage helps. That said, plenty of turkeys were taken before the advent of camo guns by simple black shottys or blued and wood ones. Those are pretty natural colors though. I wouldn't try to hunt a turkey with a Hello Kitty pink shotgun, even if it's in a tiger stripe pattern. If you decide to try turkey hunting and don't already have a shotgun that would work, you may as well get a camo pattern one.

Please tell me you 2 are kidding.... Not every critter sees only B&W. But a camo wallet is just a novelty. I like Caster's idea. Zip it all up inside a vest pocket. ETA: Specifically, many birds see colors. So ducks, geese, turkeys, etc. Anything you need to ambush that flies you need to be pretty much invisible until they're in your sights*. Upland birds like pheasant and chucker usually sit still in the grass. Who cares if they see you or not because they won't move until you or your dog just about step on them. Deer and other tasty things that don't see color still see patterns. That's why you'll see blaze orange camo patters. The lines break up the human shape, but the walking dinners don't notice the orange. *TWRA regs say 500 sq/in of blaze orange on the upper body for hunting big game except turkey and big game archery when there's no overlap with any other big game gun season. So for ducks and such, hunters wear the orange per TWRA requirement, then can hide in a blind.

Yeah, that's definitely the most defensible of all of them, but I wonder about long-term living. You could stash a large amount of supplies in there, but no good way to get fresh stuff. I wonder how folks in Sealand would fare. It's remote, difficult to get too, defensible, could support fishing, and could have wind/tidal power and desalination added if it doesn't already have it. But it's damp, cold, rusting and seems generally a miserable place to live. I guess that's why the island seemed nice. Fresh seafood and warm fresh air.

Some Nashville libraries do the same thing. White half-dollar sized gunbuster on a clear sticker on the inside of a tinted door. Brilliant. To my knowledge, it was sitting there when Bitburg was shut down. Now it's probably sitting in the Spangdahlem alarm shop tempting someone else. It depends on the use. For backpacking, JetBoils are very popular. I'm trying to decide between a Flash and a Sol/Sol Ti now. They're compact and light weight. Just boil the water, pour it into the pouch of dehydrated food, wait, eat. No need for pots/pans/plates. For EOTWAWKI, a multi-fuel burner would be much better.

Thanks. I think I'll stay away from it. It's only a few dollars per thousand rounds difference with it and some more "normal" stuff. I don't plan on reloading, so would steel cased stuff be fine in pistols?

Has anyone tried the Pakistani 80s surplus 9mm ammo? It seems to be the cheapest non-reman'd brass cased stuff out there. I'm just looking for plinking ammo to run mostly in a 92FS. Blazer Brass and Aguila is only slightly more. I have been using the Winchester WB from Wally and it's fine and priced right. I'd just like to get a little more than a couple of hundred at a time.

I wouldn't worry about the ammo so much as the effect of the heat on the guns. I've never had any FTE/FTF issues from my Springfield XD except after leaving it in a hot car all day before going to the range.

The stuff in a metal can shouldn't be allowed to be called kraut. It's nasty. Try some of the kraut found in plastic bags in your grocer's deli area, or near the hotdogs. It's much better. Sabrett brand is quite tart if you like that. I prefer Boar's Head. I was thinking about canning some later, but after looking at the effort in the recipes, waiting for the fermentation, etc., then remembered that I only eat the stuff a few times a year, I decided to stick with the deli stuff for my kraut fix.

I did 2 dozen pints of baby carrots yesterday with D3vo and my mom. We used a Presto that held 8 jars at a time. Like others said, follow the directions in the books. It was my first time doing any canning and it was easier, but took longer, than I thought.
