1. I have a Primary Arms on a forward canted mount. It leaves enough room for a quick-disconnect or flip-to-side mount for a magnifier and also for a Magpul MBUS rear site, all on the top rail without having to move anything onto the foregrip.
2. Who else lost this time besides Dick Lugar (R) of Indiana? There were others who were challeneged and some that came close to losing, but I thought he was the only seated senator seeking re-election who actually lost their primary. Here are some examples of it happening in the past. Every time that I can tell (I don't know the details of every one of these) the incumbent was a moderate of their party. 1952 - Kenneth McKellar (D - Tennessee) 1966 - Willis Robertson (D - Virginia) 1968 - Ernest Gruening (D - Alaska) 1968 - Thomas Kuchel (R - California) 1974 - William Fulbright (D - Arkansas) 1992 - Alan Dixon (D - Illinois) 2006 - Joe Lieberman (D - Connecticut) << He then ran as an independent and won 2010 - Bob Bennet (R - Utah) 2010 Lisa Murkowski (R - Alaska) 2012 - Dick Lugar (R - Indiana) It takes a strong candidate with lots o' cash to pull this off. Fred R. Anderson, Mark Twain Clemens, Brenda S. Lenard, and Zach Poskevich were not going to be the ones to do it. I voted for Poskevich, but unless someone visits sites like TGO or listens to local talk-radio, nobody knew anything about him. The fact that Corker wasn't seriously challenged by a tea-party candidate tells me that the people deciding where to spend tea-party money decided Corker wasn't weak enough.
3.
Where were all you guys who are so pissed about losing your rights when the Patriot Act was enacted (or the three further authorizations)? I'm no Obama-apologist, but it strikes me as odd that none of this 'liberty or death' talk was heard when Bush was in office.
It was said then on the liberal boards. I saw the same stuff on them in 2004. "King George" wouldn't leave in 4 years. He'd order marshal law and not step down. It was idiocy then. Nothing has changed.
4.
The real disappointment is that we had a choice between Ford and a RINO like Corker in the first place.
This. A seated senator is nearly impossible to replace in the primary. It has only happened a handful of times. It can be done (see Dick Lugar if Indiana) but it takes a very capable challenger. Few serious candidates try it because it's so expensive and difficult. Then they've only won the primary with the general election still to come. Challengers rarely have the deep pockets to take on a sitting senator. The time for a serious conservative to run for a senate seat is when it's empty. Otherwise it's like tilting at windmills. Maybe Bob or Lamar will retire after their current terms.
5. To quote our illustrious Sec. of Sate:
HILLARY APRIL 28, 2003: I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration, somehow you're not patriotic, and we should stand up and say, "WE ARE AMERICANS AND WE HAVE A RIGHT TO DEBATE AND DISAGREE WITH ANY ADMINISTRATION!"
It's one of the few things she ever said that I agree with. Of course, she meant it's patriotic to disagree with the Bush administration, not really any administration, but I digress. Not liking it here, or disagreeing with with the path our elected officials are taking is not being a sore loser. It's who we are and it's what keeps us free. It keeps us from swinging left into totalitarian communism or right into totalitarian fascism. When that dissenting voice on either side gets squashed we are all lesser for it. Even, or perhaps especially, when it's a voice we disagree with. I don't think secession is likely path, or even a good path. It's a system that works if we get people in who can and will do their jobs as they're supposed to. I've about given up on a President from either party to have the will, or even the desire to reign in federal power. It's up to Congress and the state legislatures. They don't have to secede to give Washington the finger, but it;s going to be painful if they ever do. We're all pretty dependent on the federal dole, whether we know it or not.
6. I noticed that one busted on assaulting a LEO who looks like she tripped on her way to the squad car.
7.
I recall him seeming a little "off" in an interview I saw him in.
A little? He makes Basil Marceaux look good. I went with the 3rd party guy, for what little that did.
8. Yes. It was the bullet Carl used to dispatch his momma. They said so on The Talking Dead. The bloated zombie has some of Lori's hair stuck in its mouth. That's just disturbing......
9. I have had good luck with Fiskar products. They always feel like they'll break easily, but they've all held up to years of use in my garden/lawn/trees. I'll have to take a look at these.
10. It looks like Andrea and the Guv will hook up. They showed a scene during the Talking Dead for next week's episode. They also showed Andrea leaving in a hurry, so I'm thinkning she figures out who Penny is and realizes Michonne was right about the place and takes off after her.
11. If you don't want to list your ph#, you can get a cheap TracFone burner phone at Wal-Mart for <$10 and post that one up.
12.
Blowup floatation takes up amost no space.
I call mine Linda. Seriously though, are you guys thinking something simple like water wings or a kid's inflatable pool ring/toy?
13.
½â€ is the standard for interior walls; 5/8” Is used on ceilings to prevent sagging. ¼ and 3/8 is used to wrap on curved surfaces. Lowes will have ½â€; you must have just not seen it.
5/8" is also used as "fire wall", though it's not really fire proof. Being a bit thicker (by a whole 1/8") it does take a little longer for fire to penetrate. If you're repairing the wall between your garage and your home on the garage side, use 5/8". On the interior side you can use 1/2". Both sides of the wall don't have to have 5/8".
14. By the way, if this is in a bathroom or other humid place, you can get what's called "green board". Its backing is green instead of the usual gray. Some brands are purple. Same stuff. It's made to be a little more mold and mildew resistant. I don't know if they used that stuff back in the 70s, but it won't hurt to use it even if the rest of the Sheetrock is the regular stuff. I don't recall it being much more expensive. If you don't need a whole 8' x 4' board, ask some one if they have the smaller panels. My Hone Depot sells either 2'x2' or 4'x4' panels of 1/2" Sheetrock. It's just the regular gray backed stuff, but perfect for small jobs not in a bathroom.
15. There was a shooting here in Nashville at my wife's child-hood church back in the 1980s. I always carry at church. Like I said earlier, it's where I'm most likely to find myself around someone else's domestic problems.
16. You can find DIY test kits at hardware stores. I don't know that I'd trust one before stirring up a ceiling with possible asbestos though. 1979 should be fine. The ban went into effect in 1978, but I don't know exactly when it happened in 1978. A quick google search turned up several labs that you can mail in samples. This one has some good instructions on how to take a sample. Their steps are in line with what I've seen from the EPA and from an abatement company that did an office building I used to work in that was built in the 1950s. http://www.asbestostesting.com/stepbystep.htm
17. I'm pretty sure Buds Police Supply is only for active, reserve, and retired. My dad has purchased from them and he had to provide his current ID card (he's retired).
18. You can tell because they never rot. Even when the vine is as wrinkled as a Sun Maid raisin on Aisle 5 and drier than the saltine crackers on Aisle 6, the melons are still firm and perky.
19.
Lets not forget about her not telling Rick about being preggo. She gets mad at Rick for not telling them they had to leave the farm, but witholds something as big as being knocked up from him.
Or possibly by Shane. It's never made clear in the show who-is-my-baby's-daddy.
20. .223 steel cased stuff is pretty much gone. SGAmmo,AmmoMan,SportsmansGuide,AIMSurplus....all out. If you need some, you'll probably be buying brass or waiting for a month or three.
21. Wait a minute. I saw the pic at the bottom of the article from a prior trade-in....looks like a bunch of Rohms and things that make Rohm look good.
22. The risk is that you're buying stolen firearms or firearms used in crimes. Anyone know if there is a way to run the S/N vi athe web to find out? I know about those user-submitted database searches, but I mean the real ones that LE reports stolen S/Ns into. If so, tablet PC/iPad and a fat stack of cash could net some nice finds along with some Rohms.
23. Most walls are probably 1/2". Exterior walls and walls in the garage are probably 5/8". The easiest way to tell is to cut a small square out of the existing wall along one of the holes and take it with you to the hardware store. You already have holes to patch, so making one a little larger shouldn't be much trouble. Be certain of your home's construction date. If you're dealing with a textured ceiling prior to 1978/79 it could (and probably does) contain asbestos. If you only have damaged walls, you should be OK.
24. Don't discount the very rough GOP primary. BHO didn't have to campaign against Romney that much. The other GOP hopefuls (and in some case Mitt himself) did that for him before the convention.
