1.
½â€ is the standard for interior walls; 5/8” Is used on ceilings to prevent sagging. ¼ and 3/8 is used to wrap on curved surfaces. Lowes will have ½â€; you must have just not seen it.
5/8" is also used as "fire wall", though it's not really fire proof. Being a bit thicker (by a whole 1/8") it does take a little longer for fire to penetrate. If you're repairing the wall between your garage and your home on the garage side, use 5/8". On the interior side you can use 1/2". Both sides of the wall don't have to have 5/8".
2. By the way, if this is in a bathroom or other humid place, you can get what's called "green board". Its backing is green instead of the usual gray. Some brands are purple. Same stuff. It's made to be a little more mold and mildew resistant. I don't know if they used that stuff back in the 70s, but it won't hurt to use it even if the rest of the Sheetrock is the regular stuff. I don't recall it being much more expensive. If you don't need a whole 8' x 4' board, ask some one if they have the smaller panels. My Hone Depot sells either 2'x2' or 4'x4' panels of 1/2" Sheetrock. It's just the regular gray backed stuff, but perfect for small jobs not in a bathroom.
3. There was a shooting here in Nashville at my wife's child-hood church back in the 1980s. I always carry at church. Like I said earlier, it's where I'm most likely to find myself around someone else's domestic problems.
4. You can find DIY test kits at hardware stores. I don't know that I'd trust one before stirring up a ceiling with possible asbestos though. 1979 should be fine. The ban went into effect in 1978, but I don't know exactly when it happened in 1978. A quick google search turned up several labs that you can mail in samples. This one has some good instructions on how to take a sample. Their steps are in line with what I've seen from the EPA and from an abatement company that did an office building I used to work in that was built in the 1950s. http://www.asbestostesting.com/stepbystep.htm
5. I'm pretty sure Buds Police Supply is only for active, reserve, and retired. My dad has purchased from them and he had to provide his current ID card (he's retired).
6. You can tell because they never rot. Even when the vine is as wrinkled as a Sun Maid raisin on Aisle 5 and drier than the saltine crackers on Aisle 6, the melons are still firm and perky.
7.
Lets not forget about her not telling Rick about being preggo. She gets mad at Rick for not telling them they had to leave the farm, but witholds something as big as being knocked up from him.
Or possibly by Shane. It's never made clear in the show who-is-my-baby's-daddy.
8. .223 steel cased stuff is pretty much gone. SGAmmo,AmmoMan,SportsmansGuide,AIMSurplus....all out. If you need some, you'll probably be buying brass or waiting for a month or three.
9. Wait a minute. I saw the pic at the bottom of the article from a prior trade-in....looks like a bunch of Rohms and things that make Rohm look good.
10. The risk is that you're buying stolen firearms or firearms used in crimes. Anyone know if there is a way to run the S/N vi athe web to find out? I know about those user-submitted database searches, but I mean the real ones that LE reports stolen S/Ns into. If so, tablet PC/iPad and a fat stack of cash could net some nice finds along with some Rohms.
11. Most walls are probably 1/2". Exterior walls and walls in the garage are probably 5/8". The easiest way to tell is to cut a small square out of the existing wall along one of the holes and take it with you to the hardware store. You already have holes to patch, so making one a little larger shouldn't be much trouble. Be certain of your home's construction date. If you're dealing with a textured ceiling prior to 1978/79 it could (and probably does) contain asbestos. If you only have damaged walls, you should be OK.
12. Don't discount the very rough GOP primary. BHO didn't have to campaign against Romney that much. The other GOP hopefuls (and in some case Mitt himself) did that for him before the convention.
13. Downpayment on a Carnival Kia: $149 and a job Good divorce lawyer: $400 and hour Leaving photographic evidence of being a felon with a firearm: Priceless http://imagecollect.com/picture/craig-morgan-chris-bostick-the-team-photo-1500461/craig-morgan-charity-weekend-day-2-sporting-clay-shoot
14. Why yes, I do feel lucky, but I'm not a punk.
15. AK-15 coming right up.... http://www.flickr.co...guav/521698335/ The really funny part about that pic is that it got lifted and used in a gunshop advert. Oops. http://www.saysuncle.com/2009/06/04/ad-fail/
16.
do you have a pocket gun or something small enough to be sure it won't be seen?
Only if the date doesn't go very well.
17. Goodlettsville Gun Shop posted on their FB page that a major distributor went through three thousand 1,000 round cases of 5.56 in 4 hours. That's 3 million rounds. Remember boys and girls, it's not hoarding until you find 3 or more dead cats under your stash.
18.
That's a great plan right there. Do the Badges mean you are Law Enforcement?
A gold badge under a user's avatar indicates law enforcement service The little people with the gold star indicate military service The ID card indicates Handgun Carry Permit holder
19. Becoming a state would give them 2 senators and some reps in the House. Right now they have one guy that can speak, but doesn't have any voting power. So they'd get to have more of a voice in the legislature. They'd also get to vote for POTUS, which they can't do now. I don't see PR becoming #51 in the very near future. The vote taken Tuesday can be interpreted different ways and it's not clear that it would be a popular move. But it's trending that way. Each time this comes up in PR, the vote leans a little more towards statehood. Once it gets closer to 60/40 or 70/30, I think we'll see Congress take up the issue. At a very slight majority in one election, I don't see it happening. Give it another 10-20 years and we'll probably have to get new flags.
20. He can accomplish a lot through Executive Orders and departmental (EPA, BATFE, DHS, etc) regulation or through procedural techincalities. He doesn't need Congress. He did it with parts of his DREAM Act, appointed to the NLRB and CFPB without Senate approval, and effectively altered welfare work requirements. That said, his use of Executive Orders isn't way off the reservation established by his predecessors. If we knew what really went on in Washington, we'd storm the castle, with pitchforks and torches if necessary.
21. http://www.atf.gov/firearms/faq/unlicensed-persons.html The first few FAQs will confirm what has already been stated here.
22. While we're ranting (and I'm guilty of it myself), it could help to have the seller's location in the title or at least the body of the post. Browsing from mobile devices often doesn't show the location under the avatar.
23. Ex-Pat living sounds better every day. Now if I could just find a place that would let me bring my guns into their country....
24. Plus the GOP now has a super-majority in both parts of the TN legislature. If they'll elect some majority-leaders with some stones, we can see some good stuff come out of the capitol building over the next few years. No need to "reach across the aisle". The people have given them a pretty clear mandate: "Run your platform, not theirs."
