Just one example of one without the buffer tube is the Sig P556. It uses AR mags and .223/5.56 ammo, but its action is different so it doesn't use a buffer tube. Look closely at the main body of a P556 and a "normal" AR pistol and you'll see other differences besides the buffer tube.

I've found that most Merrell styles fit the same as the others. That is, they don't fit me, but they're consistent in how/where they don't fit me. If I knew style A fit me, I'd feel pretty sure that style B would do the same.   Personally, I'm now hooked on Keen.

Who said you have to use the velcro?   That said, I don't see this as being a big improvement over a naked buffer tube on an AR-pistol. It does make a difference on that Sig P556 though that doesn't have a buffer tube.

So if it doesn't work its way up to SCOTUS (or Congress acts), one could still be charged under 39 CFR 232.1 in a parking lot, but when challenged in court, you could use the precedent as part of your defense?

  I'm guessing that if you had seen the price you would understand why it was "sitting around for a little longer".   Locally, I see nothing. Getting some decent prices online from time to time. Every few weeks I'll see 1,000 round packs for a decent price but you have to be fast. It helps to subscribe to email alerts and to follow certain shops/sites on Facebook. for every 5 deals I see, 4 are sold out by the time I get to them. The better the deal and the more popular the site, the faster it sells out.

Check YouTube for your specific make and model. Chances are someone will have posted how to completely disassemble one. If you're handy with a small screwdriver you can probably do it yourself. The process is much more mechanical than technical. Here's one for replacing a fan, but he pretty much completely disassembles it to get there. There's going to be a ribbon cable connecting the monitor to the motherboard or graphics card. There are likely some small clips holding it in place at each end. Even if it doesn't feel loose, open the clips, remove the cable, reinsert the cable and lock up the clips. Besides the hassle of getting to that point, this is the simplest and cheapest (no cost) thing that may fix it.   If that doesn't help, then TankerHC's probably right about changing the motherboard (mobo). No need to backup for this. Well, no more than usual. You ARE doing backups, right?   The mobo is the main circuit board that holds the processor. Everything else (drives, cards, USB ports, etc.) plugs into it. Many today (esp. laptops) have the "cards" built right in so there's no extra card for the sound, graphics, network, etc. It's all in one. If you're changing it, you remove all the attached pieces from the old mobo and reattach them to the new one once it's installed. Since your drives don't change, no need to do an extra backup.

The thread on tattoos becoming so much more common lately got me thinking about bad tats. I thought it might be fun to see some truly bad ink. It could be a funny spelling error, bad likeness, or something that looks like a 3rd grader did it. It can be a photo you've seen of someone else's ink, or it could be one of your own that came out worse than you had planned. I'll start out with this one. It's one of my all time favorites. What? It's a baby's hand holding mommy's finger. What did you think it was?

Weapons laws are in 39-17-13xx in the TN Code linked above. Self defense laws are in 39-11-6xx. What is sometimes called "castle doctrine" is covered (with other things) in 39-11-611. It's important to note where the law says "force" and where it says "deadly force" (or "force intended or likely to cause death or serious bodily injury"). They're very different.    There could be some others that I'm not recalling at the moment. I'm not a lawyer and didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

What OS said.   The basis for it is TCA 39-17-1307 which says no carrying of firearms with the intent to go armed (amongst other things). Other 39-17-13xx statutes make exceptions for that (like lawful hunting, HCP, at your own home/business, LEOs, etc.).
