  1. My only concern with doing so is the reliability of the firearm cycling. I had an XD that ran perfect except for one day at the range after being left in the hot car during the day. I had a couple of FTF issues that day. Ever since then I have been wary of leaving one in the car in the summer for a while. I don't know if this was simple coincidence, something unique to the XD design, a day I hadn't lubricated the slide properly, or something else, but it is what it is. Whatever it was, it was temporary as I never had another issue with that gun. I suspected the heat caused something to expand a little causing some slight binding. When it cooled back down, it was fine.   +1 to no worries about the ammo. I'm guessing that the rounds stored in ammo cans stored in connex containers sitting in the sandbox over there get a lot hotter than they would in our cars.
  2. You know how we sometimes say " Pics, or it didn't happen" ? This time we'll just take your word for it.
  3. I'm not entirely sure on this, but it is my understanding that Metro Nashville's parks are off limits by city ordinance even without a TCA 39-17-1311 sign. From Metro's Municipal Code: I'm not real up to speed on how local laws are grandfathered in, but I don't want to be the test case.
  4.   Gotcha. In that case, yeah, all the IWBs I've seen or used would work best with 2 hands if you're tucked in and covering the gun. You can untuck with one hand, then draw, but it's faster to use two hands. Now I either don't tuck, or wear it outside the tucked shirt and under a jacket, or no jacket and don't really care who might see it, depending on location and circumstances.
  5. None of my IWBs require 2 hands. I've never seen one that does and would pass on it if I did.
  6. I'm guessing most jewelry shaped like a firearm is going to fit in the "junk" category. I don't think you'll find a 24K AK-47 at Tiffany & Co. The only ones I've seen outside of shows are the ones at the mall kiosks for the gangbangers and wannabe-gangbangers. Glocks, Uzis, and AKs next to pot leaves and $ signs.
  7. Some are. I heard more than one HCP holder state that they can start carrying in their car to work as of July 1. Their employer's lot is not posted but it's no-no in their handbook. So nothing changed 7/1 but the HCP holder sure thought it did. I'm sure coverage on the local media outlets didn;t help with the misunderstanding.
  8.   I'll summarize:   "I hate capitalism when I'm on the wrong end of the supply and demand curves and I hope the people who bought for an investment get screwed."
  9. And to make the analogy complete, there are occasional shortages of gasoline at the neighborhood stations. The latest one having lasted for 9 months with only slight improvements in sight.
  10. The best way I've found to help a non-shooter understand so-called "stockpiling" is gasoline. Let's say they use 10 gallons of gas per week in their car. Now let's say that there was a really easy way to safely store as much as they wanted at home and they'd get it for let's say $0.50 cheaper per gallon if they bought it in 100 gallon lots. They're going to use that 100 gallons over time so it's not a waste. How much can they buy before they're "crazy end of the world hoarders" instead of normal people who don't want to have to go to the gas station every time they need more and have to pay higher prices for it?
  11. OS, I think some TGOers' call that amount "Tuesday".
  12.   With or without this "brace" you may get static from a LEO with any of the "rifle-based" pistols (AR, Draco, etc) even if you're legally in the clear. See Kwik at Radnor. Add in this legal brace-that's-really-just-a-non-adjustable-stock and even a LEO knowledgable of those laws will take a second look at you.
  13. Apparently you're supposed to order it from Missouroxvillanta
  14. Just one example of one without the buffer tube is the Sig P556. It uses AR mags and .223/5.56 ammo, but its action is different so it doesn't use a buffer tube. Look closely at the main body of a P556 and a "normal" AR pistol and you'll see other differences besides the buffer tube.
  15. I've found that most Merrell styles fit the same as the others. That is, they don't fit me, but they're consistent in how/where they don't fit me. If I knew style A fit me, I'd feel pretty sure that style B would do the same.   Personally, I'm now hooked on Keen.
  16.   Yep. Knoxville has no music or BBQ...just a derlict relic tower from 1982...and orange parking tickets.
  17. Who said you have to use the velcro?   That said, I don't see this as being a big improvement over a naked buffer tube on an AR-pistol. It does make a difference on that Sig P556 though that doesn't have a buffer tube.
  18. Academy stocks some Merrell styles.
  19. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/07/13/mo-gov-signs-gun-safety-course-for-first-graders/?test=latestnews   Looks like Eddie Eagle is going to Missouri.
  20. Yep. You guys are late to the party. We've been laughing about this for 3 days now.   "Sixcooter" was my favorite comment.
  21. So if it doesn't work its way up to SCOTUS (or Congress acts), one could still be charged under 39 CFR 232.1 in a parking lot, but when challenged in court, you could use the precedent as part of your defense?
