I think any response you get here will be very skewed. By virtue of it being a gun board, pretty much every LEO member here is by definition a gun enthusiast. You might be surprised at how few LEOs fit that category. Lots of cadets have never fired a weapon before they get to their police academy training and don't get bit by the gun bug. Their duty weapon is all they own and they only shoot enough to qualify.   ETA: cross-post

Besides the tactical issues, don't forget that if you are involved in an SD shoot, no matter how clean you think it is, you could face charges if the DA thinks otherwise, even if it's in your own home. Consider how the weapon used by you will play before a jury of non-gun-lovin' people.   Whatever you decide, create a plan and practice it.

You're good to go for an in-person buy of long guns in TN from an FFL. No special TN state restrictions.

I had an LCP and got rid of it for a Kahr PM9. Much happier with the Kahr. I also have a G26. I can tell the difference between the two and prefer the Kahr, but sometimes I like those extra rounds in the G26. I carry both in Remora holsters.

The best gun club in Nashville is in Gallatin. It's a private club with a couple of trap stands and a handgun/rifle range out to 300 yards. Membership is closed, but you can get on a waiting list. It hasn't been taking too terribly long to get through the list lately. The best skeet/trap/sporting clays range is the Nashville Gun Club. It's a lot more expensive than Gallatin GC and doesn't have handgun or rifle facilities. South of town in Spring Hill is CHMR, a private range with unlimited membership count. It's the cheapest, but gets busy on the weekends. It's pistol and handgun out to 100 yards and there are a couple of spring-loaded clay throwers in a side area. The nicest range is run by the TWRA and it's Stones River Hunter Education Center. It's only open weekends, gets very busy, and has loads of novice shooters. It goes to 200 yards on the rifle side and it's all concrete pad so you don't get muddy changing targets. If you'll be flying a lot, consider proximity to Nashville. There are several non-stop flights from Nashville to several Florida airports with Southwest Airlines.

If you want to change your furniture on your AK rifle and keep it a rifle that's not an SBR (change your 90's AWB workaround rifle into one that looks like a regular AK), then look at the rules for 922r. X# of US made parts. Plenty of threads here and on other forums about the most convenient parts to change out. It may already be 922r compliant, but had the thumbhole stock to not run afoul of the old AWB.   If you want to change your AK rifle into an AK pistol, I don't think there's a legal way to do that.

Requirements You can sell to any resident of your state in a face-to-face transaction so long as you do not have knowledge of them being prohibited from owning a firearm. You can sell to a non-prohibited resident of any state if the firearm passes through an FFL in their state (and that state doesn't prohibit that particular firearm).   Practical Matters You don't have to use an FFL for same-state transfers, but you can. If you want to do that, make that clear in your listing and say who will pay the transfer and TICS fees. If you sell to an out of state buyer, some FFLs will only accept shipments from another FFL. That means you have to involve a dealer here to do the shipment to your buyer's FFL. Not a big deal, but it adds cost. You can hand-deliver the firearm to the buyer's FFL if the FFL will allow that. No bill of sale (BOS) is necessary. If you feel like you need one, then make that clear up front. Some buyers won't do a purchase with them. Others won't do a purchase without them. Others don't care. If you meet face to face, be careful. Choose a well lit and populated place if you're dealing with someone you don't know. If possible, bring an armed friend who knows how to watch over a deal. Some sellers only sell to HCP holders for face-to-face deals. If you want that, say so in your listing. If an FFL is involved, who cares. California's laws are screwy. Some sellers won't sell to a CA buyer. I only buy/sell with someone I know personally or with a real TGO member or at a gun show with plenty of witnesses who aren't scared by seeing a gun sale. In my opinion, it's perfectly reasonable to state who you will/won't deal with in your ad, but be clear about it. It's your gun and it's your safety involved. It wouldn't be unreasonable in my opinion to state that you'll only sell to TGOers who have been members for X months or more, or who have Y number of iTrader positives, or have Z number of posts or more. This is an open Internet forum. Having a TGO account doesn't mean a lot to me. Being a long standing member, being an active member, or having positive reviews from other active/long standing members goes a long way with me. If a buyer doesn't meet those requirements, then it can go through an FFL of their choice. After the Nashville West incident, it's just not worth it to me to not have some good idea of who I'm dealing with. I'll pay the transfer fee to an FFL before I'll meet someone I don't know at some random parking lot who just joined TGO and has 1 post saying "I'll take it".   A phone call to set up the meet can tell you a lot more than PMs, texts, and e-mails. Sometimes it just doesn't "feel" right.

LEO here can take it from you during the stop if they choose, at their discretion. It's returned when the stop is done so long as you're not in the back seat of their car when it's all over
