  1. That's awesome!   I love this one with Channing Tatum from the set of 22 Jump Street. http://youtu.be/EMlpiey20b8
  2. Availability has been getting much better on 7.62x39 and prices have been falling. They're stable now in the $229/1000 range, but I expect we'll see the occasional deal on them down to around $200/1000 at the usual good-deal sites like SportsmansWarehouse and SGAmmo, maybe even AIM. Add in shipping and you're back to $0.21-0.23 per round.
  3.   Or "If your Mosin breaks, fix it by hitting it with another Mosin"
  4. I called 9-1-1 on a (presumably) drunk diver on OHB in Brentwood several years back. I followed at about a 1/4 mile distance and stayed on with the 9-1-1 operator directing the cops. I watched them pull him over then went on my merry way. I'd do the same thing again.
  5. It varies. A friend of mine is Metro PD. Former SWAT and former Academy instructor, now off doing something else for MPD. He told me that very few of the cadets know crap about firearms. They keep a good variety on hand at the Academy to teach them how to safely handle them when they encounter them in the field. Everything from a basic revolver to AR-15s to shotguns to Tommy guns to some really odd stuff. He admitted that there's a lot of the law on firearms that he doesn't know, esp. regarding NFA items. A person can only memorize so much stuff, so they of course focus on the more common elements of the job. I think it's safe to say that there are fewer "gun people" on the Metro PD than you might think.
  6. Mine are empty when I come back from the range and I'm too lazy to relaod them. Otherwise, they stay full.
  7. Did you get into KahrMan's Christmas presents?   :)
  8. The general consensus from people that know about these things seems to be that compression cycles wear out the springs, not the compression itself. So keep 'em loaded, but don't constantly be loading/unloading them. I'm not a metalurgist or engineer and I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. That's just what I've found from researching the same topic.
  9. Left the prison? Check. Got rid of the Governor? Check. Scattered the group? Check. On the road again? Check.   I'll call this 1/2 season a necessary evil to clean up the crap of S2 and S3. If that puts them back in S1 mode, then S4.5 should be much better.
  10. CNN reports: AK-47, AK-47, AR-15, M-16, AK-47, AR-15, AR-15, Bushmaster, Glock, RPG, AR-15, sawed off AR-15
  11. I don't use a holster. I just shove it down the leg next to my Remington 870.
  12. When you can sit on a toilet and not get your balls wet.
  13. In most things, you get what you pay for, but not always. Where does the LPK fit into that spectrum?   Assuming you're not using the trigger (or getting an LPK w/o trigger) or the A2 grip, does the manufacturer of the rest of the LPK make any real difference? Brownell's has the Colt LPK w/o trigger or grip for $159.99 and one from DPMS with grip but no trigger for $35.99 ($29.99 w/o either). They have several choices in between those 2 prices. I know DPMS isn't considered high-end for their complete ARs, but does it matter for the little springs, roll pins, etc. that come in the LPK?
  14.   Yeah, I know. I was just trying to find a way where the law in the OP might not apply even to specific listed activities. It doesn't say we can carry if we're doing any of those listed activities. It says the carrying must be "incident to" those activities. I was thinking that carrying during bow-only season might not be considered "incident to". Is it legal to put down a wounded animal (wounded by arrow) with a handgun during bow-only season? If so, then yeah, it could be "incident to". If not, I don't see how it is. I'm still not getting why "camping" is listed there.   The HCP provides its own defense, so we don't need the ones specified in the OP.
  15.   This x a bazillion.   My Black Diamond is the "Spot" model from 2013. Love the white options, but the red is too dim.
  16.   It says "incident to" those things. That means the carrying of the firearm is somehow related to that activity. That means you're GTG for those activities if the carrying is somehow related. There's a pretty obvious connection to sport shooting and to hunting*. Also seems logical for trapping as a trapper could need to put down a trapped animal. It's the fishing and camping that I don't get. I guess RED333 has a point about catching something like a snapping turtle and needing to kill it quick.   I suppose that "a bear might come around" could be incident to camping or fishing (or hiking for that matter), but if that logic holds up, then so should "A thug might come around" when other lawful activity is being done, like walking down the street. We know that's not the case, so that brings me back around to "why is camping and fishing listed there"?     *An exception to hunting might be bow hunting during bow-only season. I don't know if a firearm would be considered "incident to" that lawful activity.
  17. Yeah...see my 3rd sentence for the solution.
  18.   I suppose you mean that he can't do so without paying an FFL to do a transfer. $15-$50 isn't the worst thing in the world. Of course, the father could loan the gun to his son and that loan doesn't have to be for any specified period of time.
  19. I've always wondered about "fishing" and "camping" being in that law. I've never been fishing where I needed a firearm to finish off the fish and I've never set my tent stakes using a .357. Maybe I need to catch bigger fish and experiment more with my tent pitching :) .
  20. Petzl is a good choice. I have a Black Diamond and like it, but the red is too dim on it.
  21. Looks like Shooters Guns & Ammo is opening a new location where Guns & Ammo Depot was near Sam's Club. Pretty sure it's the same bunch that took over by Gun City, but I don't know anything about them. Not open yet, just the sign. Is anyone familiar with these guys?
  22. Never used them before, but Caldwell makes some low profile electronics with a 23 NRR. http://www.opticsplanet.com/caldwell-e-max-low-profile-electronic-hearing-protection.html
  23. Grand Jury says murder 2.   http://www.wsmv.com/story/24157108/bar-owner-charged-in-nashville-musicians-death
  24. I have the Peltor Tactical 7S (NRR 24). I like them, but they do get in the way of a good cheek weld a little bit. I usually don't mind, but if I'm going to be shooting long guns for a long time, I'll switch over to plugs + low-profile earmuffs. When I'm shooting real close to someone else who is shooting larger calibers (esp. indoors), I'll put plugs on under the Peltors and turn up the volume a little. Does a good job then of cutting down the gunfire while still allowing me to hear normal conversations.   When I want to get REALLY quiet, I use plugs plus some 3M muffs from Home Depot with a 32 NRR. Not electronic, but great protection.
