  1.   FIFY!
  2. It's the TN dept of Revenue, not the IRS, but yeah, what Smith said.   Here's the form for anyone who wants to do this. http://www.tn.gov/revenue/forms/sales/r0000501.pdf
  3. I'm surprised this is still here. If I hadn't just spent all my money on a Ctrl and an Alt, I'd be all over this. Good guy to do business with. Delete with confidence.
  4.   This. We can argue 'til the cows come home about open this, rifle that, safe handling, he's a douche, no he's exercising his rights, whatever. In the end, politicians make the laws and they do what the voters and businesses in their districts tell them to do. Stuff like what these guys are doing serves no meaningful purpose to advance our cause in the law books. It can do one thing and one thing only, stir the pot enough to make those voters and businesses complain to their representatives to pass laws restricting it.   Doing something legal but unwanted around people who can influence the law is a good way to get that behavior made illegal.
  5. Just be sure to duct-tape your loosley zip-tied rifle-shaped kydex case to your bike.  :stir:
  6.   I don't think that's true. Is something no longer in a convertible car if the top is down? Or no longer in a Jeep if the top and doors are off?   I think something can be "in" a car because a car has exterior dimensions. anything within those dimensions is "in the car". A motorcycle has exterior dimensions too, but outside of small compartments like trunk/saddle bags, I don't think anything can actually be "in" a motorcycle.   That said, I think it would take a special kind of stupid for a DA to try to argue the nuance of "in" vs. "on" to a jury. I'm not saying there's not a DA out there with that special kind of stupid going on, just that I doubt it would be a common thing.
  7.   Nashville gets to have 2 sets of rules. One for the "urban services" district and one for the "general services" district. It's a holdover from the early days of becoming a municipal government. No shooting of any kind in the urban services district, but just no night shooting in the general services district.
  8. In the city of Chattanooga, page 3 has their shooting regulations. Short version, be safe and as long as the noise doesn't bother the neighbors, shoot away.  http://www.chattanooga.gov/city-council-files/CityCode/25%20-%20Offenses%20and%20Miscellaneous%20Provisions.pdf     I didn't see Hamilton Co.'s ordinances anywhere online.
  9.   It does hurt. Stupid stuff like this prompts businesses to post which has a direct impact on us. It also reinforces stereotypes in the minds of the non-gun-enthusiast voters, pushes voters in the indifferent-middle towards the antis, and creates an atmosphere for knee-jerk legislation for those voters to support.
  10. I didn't post the video to say this is a BAD THINGtm. I just wanted to inform anyone wanting to donate to the kickstarter campaign what this is and what this isn't. The full kickstarter campaign text makes it pretty clear that there isn't going to be a TV show. LeVar is going to making more app and web deliverable content. The kickstarter text is pretty clear to me that it's to be able to make that content and to make it free to needy schools.   Seeing this:     makes it even better. This is my first participation in kickstarter. Even after seeing the video that I linked, I still think that this is a GOOD THINGtm and worth supporting.
  11. Then there's this:   http://youtu.be/llDlxHVbA_g
  12.   At least one did. Admiral Yamamoto told the Prime Minister:   The battle of Midway ended 6 months to the day from Pearl Harbor. It was the beginning of the end for Japan.
  13. Get that ejection port cover done too.   Looking good!
  14.   And the ones they're "friendly" with could find themselves on the wrong end of the dragon. I wonder how long before China will decide they want the treasure chest that is Siberia. I doubt they're stupid enough to try it on Putin's watch, but I could see them annexing it under a weaker Russian leader, or if Russia gets involved in a real war in the west and can't fight 2 fronts.
  15. dawgdoc, I love my Remoras. I'll have to try the one with the taco flap. I saw that on their site, but didn't know how well it might work. You're right about the regular ones getting pulled out when untucking.
  16. The pledges have grown by over $100K in the past 2 hours.
  17.   It does. It removes caked on bugs from windshields and bumpers. Sort of like a girly-smelling Bug-N-Tar remover. I don't know why Avon doesn't remove the perfumes and market that stuff to outdoorsmen, unless it's the perfumes themselves that keep the bugs away. Maybe they can't stand the smell either :)   Avon makes an unscented "Skin So Soft" bug repelent, but if you check the ingredients, it's not the same stuff as the original SSS. Just a different product using the SSS name.
  18. OS, would you mind clarifying "legal over all length"? I have a semi-understanding of it and think I know what it means, but I can't say I'm 100%.
  19.   That's the root of unethical business practices. Profit is necessary, and a good thing, but it's not the point of being in business. The point of being in any business is to provide a good or service to a customer. It has to be profitable to continue to exist, but it's not the reason to exist. Truly succesful people do what they do because they love doing it and have found a way to make a profit doing it. If they didn't need the money, they'd still be doing the same thing if it didn't make a profit.   Air is necessary to live, but we don't live so that we can consume air. Profit is air to a business: necessary, but the purpose.
  20. He's making an assumption that customers are educated. That's a huge assumption, and an incorrect one. Gun enthusiasts may know what a "fair" price is for an item, but a first-time buyer or casual buyer doesn't know what MSRP, "normal", and "ObamaReelected-SandyHook-RussiaInUkraine-crazy-time" prices are. We know to shop around. Newcomers to the hobby/market do not. How many of us have a friend or family member ask us what we think about gun X and if $Y.00 is a fair price or not? Most people just don't know.   What other items besides guns have a 50-100% change in their non-sale price between sellers even during normal times? Even a new car will only vary by single-digit percentages between area car dealers. If a new buyer walks into that writer's store and sees a G42 for $750, they'll think that's a "normal" price for that firearm. They'll think it's like most other things they buy and assume a 5-10% variation amongst dealers. I don't see a refrigerator at Lowes for $1,000 and assume Home Depot has the same or a comparable one for $450. I can safely assume that Home Depot will likely be within 5-10% of Lowes and vice-versa. Why would a new gun buyer think any differently? I got lucky and found TGO between my first gun store visit to Uselton's and when I was actually ready to buy. This place led me to buy my first guns at GnL. If I hadn't found TGO, I would have paid at least 50% over the "fair" market price at the time.     Not directly related to the point of his article, but the writer fails at math. That's not 100% markup. It's still 25%.
  21. Thank you, I'll be here all week. Be sure to tip your waitress. :hat:
  22. There are a few others around here. I met a couple at a TGO meet-n-shoot a few years ago.
  23. Looks like a fun project. I want to see pics when you're done too. Take some along the way. It would be cool to see it progress.
