  1. Get that ejection port cover done too.   Looking good!
  2.   And the ones they're "friendly" with could find themselves on the wrong end of the dragon. I wonder how long before China will decide they want the treasure chest that is Siberia. I doubt they're stupid enough to try it on Putin's watch, but I could see them annexing it under a weaker Russian leader, or if Russia gets involved in a real war in the west and can't fight 2 fronts.
  3. dawgdoc, I love my Remoras. I'll have to try the one with the taco flap. I saw that on their site, but didn't know how well it might work. You're right about the regular ones getting pulled out when untucking.
  4. The pledges have grown by over $100K in the past 2 hours.
  5.   It does. It removes caked on bugs from windshields and bumpers. Sort of like a girly-smelling Bug-N-Tar remover. I don't know why Avon doesn't remove the perfumes and market that stuff to outdoorsmen, unless it's the perfumes themselves that keep the bugs away. Maybe they can't stand the smell either :)   Avon makes an unscented "Skin So Soft" bug repelent, but if you check the ingredients, it's not the same stuff as the original SSS. Just a different product using the SSS name.
  6. OS, would you mind clarifying "legal over all length"? I have a semi-understanding of it and think I know what it means, but I can't say I'm 100%.
  7.   That's the root of unethical business practices. Profit is necessary, and a good thing, but it's not the point of being in business. The point of being in any business is to provide a good or service to a customer. It has to be profitable to continue to exist, but it's not the reason to exist. Truly succesful people do what they do because they love doing it and have found a way to make a profit doing it. If they didn't need the money, they'd still be doing the same thing if it didn't make a profit.   Air is necessary to live, but we don't live so that we can consume air. Profit is air to a business: necessary, but the purpose.
  8. He's making an assumption that customers are educated. That's a huge assumption, and an incorrect one. Gun enthusiasts may know what a "fair" price is for an item, but a first-time buyer or casual buyer doesn't know what MSRP, "normal", and "ObamaReelected-SandyHook-RussiaInUkraine-crazy-time" prices are. We know to shop around. Newcomers to the hobby/market do not. How many of us have a friend or family member ask us what we think about gun X and if $Y.00 is a fair price or not? Most people just don't know.   What other items besides guns have a 50-100% change in their non-sale price between sellers even during normal times? Even a new car will only vary by single-digit percentages between area car dealers. If a new buyer walks into that writer's store and sees a G42 for $750, they'll think that's a "normal" price for that firearm. They'll think it's like most other things they buy and assume a 5-10% variation amongst dealers. I don't see a refrigerator at Lowes for $1,000 and assume Home Depot has the same or a comparable one for $450. I can safely assume that Home Depot will likely be within 5-10% of Lowes and vice-versa. Why would a new gun buyer think any differently? I got lucky and found TGO between my first gun store visit to Uselton's and when I was actually ready to buy. This place led me to buy my first guns at GnL. If I hadn't found TGO, I would have paid at least 50% over the "fair" market price at the time.     Not directly related to the point of his article, but the writer fails at math. That's not 100% markup. It's still 25%.
  9. Thank you, I'll be here all week. Be sure to tip your waitress. :hat:
  10. There are a few others around here. I met a couple at a TGO meet-n-shoot a few years ago.
  11. Looks like a fun project. I want to see pics when you're done too. Take some along the way. It would be cool to see it progress.
  12. Yeah, Burr's was it. Thanks.   His wife made some of the best chocolate pies.
  13. There were a couple of those around Lebanon years ago. It was on 109 just north of Leeville Pike. Hole in the wall meat n three place. The old guy that ran the place smoked the stuff in a little block shed out back. It's gone now.   The other place was over by the projects. I don't know if it's still there. IIRC, it was across the street from Alan's "Market" aka the place with the dice game in the back. It could have been a block or two towards the fairgrounds from there. Had to get that stuff to go. No way you could sit in there and eat it without getting smoked yourself. :)
  14. The Bar-B-Cutie on Donelson Pike is pretty good. Not award winning, but better than a lot of places, good prices, and great service. I've heard less flattering things about other BBCutie locations.   Some of the worst around IMO is Stroud's. I don't know how people like that stuff. Dry, tough, bland, and stringy. Plus their sides suck worse than Edley's. The only good thing on their menu is a bag of Lay's chips.
  15. Not a fan of Edleys myself. I thought it was a bit dry and didn't care for the sides. Plus they have too many hipsters. Martin's is delicious. They have a deep smoky flavor. Slow N Low has good brisket. So does Tex's but they're only open M-F for lunch. Peg-leg Porker is getting some good foodie press, but I haven't been over to try it yet. Hog Heaven by Centennial Park used to be great, but I haven't been in years and hear it's not what it once was.
  16. No. He means large wooden boxes for storing African river animals.
  17.   You can also carry in your place of business, but I suppose that's irrelevant to the OP.   The OP is correct that a tent counts as a domicile in TN law, so that counts as being in the home.   from the OP   I've wondered about this line in the TN Code. "incident to" to me means it's a part of the activity. i.e you can't exactly go sport shooting without carrying a loaded firearm, so it's incident to that activity. However, I see no way that carrying a loaded firearm is incident to camping or fishing. It makes me wonder exactly what the lawmakers were intending to accomplish with that line.     As for fishing on public land, it may depend greatly on who manages that public land and exactly what that land is used for. The top of Page 5 at the link below has a good summary of TVA's policies. I'm not sure what stance other agencies like the US Forest Service have taken. Either way, you'd at the very least need an HCP, IMO.   http://www.handgunlaw.us/states/tennessee.pdf
  18. One thing's for sure, they hold their value. My dad bought his RG-10 around 1968 for $20. Today it's worth about $20.
  19.   You're thinking about Reagan. John Hinkley, Jr. used a Rohm RG-14.
  20. "Panther". Then you'd have a real Tennessee black panther.
  21. Sorry, Lumber_Jack. They only hire unprofessional foresters.
