No, we don't. We have the longest standing federal constitutional government.* In other words, no other government that's structured like ours is older. The current UK parliamentary monarchy dates to either 1066 or 1660/1689, depending on one's perspective. Either way it's older than us. Then there's San Marino which goes back to somewhere around 300 A.D. and the Vatican** which dates back to 33 AD. It has controlled what is now Vatican City (and sometimes a whole lot more) since the 300's. Iceland has the longest standing legislative body dating back to 930, but they've not been independent the entire time (and Denmark suspended the legislature from 1799-1844) and only became the nation we know today in 1944. *Sweden's constitution pre-dates us by a few years but they've had substantial changes to theirs, so it's debatable if they've been under the same form of government the entire time. They're also not a federal consitutional government. **I suppose some times with the anti-popes, competing claims to the papal seat, and imprisonment by the French would mean you could argue it's younger than that, but it's still older than us no matter how you slice it.

Yeah. I started with a 26, then added a 19. Now I want a 29, 30 and/or a 36.

It's not a super deal, but it's a fair price. I've seen them as low as $465 online, incl. S&H. Add on TICS and transfer and you're looking at $485-$500 depending on your FFL's transfer fees.

Neither am, I as long as I can be safe with them. What happens when I don't recognize my own spouse (brother, sister, child, nurse, etc.) and think she's an intruder? Dementia and Alzheimers take a terrible toll on a person. I like to think that I'll make the right choice in the early stages of those terrible diseases if I ever get them. I want someone (close friend or relative) still in their right mind to do what is necessary to protect my family from me if I'm no longer capable of doing that.

That's all fine and well as long as grampa's mind is solid. What happens when he gets confused a lot? Doesn't recognize close family members? Thinks walking 2 miles in January in his underwear to the corner store that burned down in 1971 is a good idea? I agree with DaveTN on this one (did I just say that?). I think it's a family issue, not one for doctors to decide. I think doctors should have the conversation with the family and advise them, but ultimately it's not their call. Of course my logic falls apart when there isn't any family. I'm not sure what I think the best course of action is then.

I'm sure they'll sell you a case of Hillary's book. :)

Hard Choices was stacked deep at West Nashville Costco last week. It spent 2 weeks at #1 and last week fell to #2 on the NYT best sellers list of combined print and e-media for non fiction. Besides their politics wanting it to do well, it would make no sense to pull that book if Costco really does use lists like the NYT BSL to decide what to carry. America is a top seller on Amazon, but the NYT's liberal politics have kept it off their BSL so far. The NYT says it will be on the list next week. It makes sense for Costco to only keep top selling books in stock. It's a huge store, but they only allocate so much space for books. That said, their own internal sales numbers should have been showing them that the book was selling well even w/o an NYT listing. We'll never know, but I'd love to see what their internal sales figures were showing prior to it being pulled. It's possible that it wasn't doing very well in Costco.

I don't know what middle class is, but "rich" is anyone making more than me. :D

Metro Nashville's ordinance (11.12.080) on this is two-fold, if anyone cares. Inside the urban services district it's like others have mentioned. No firing of pretty much anything, including BB, airsoft, paintball, etc.). In the general services district, it's anything goes, as far as the city is concerned, during the day, and a no-no at night. I don't know of any ordinance regarding archery for either district. As a general rule (but not always) if the city picks up your trash you're in urban services. If you pay for someone else or have to haul it off yourself, you're in general services. http://maps.nashville.gov/webimages/MapGallery/PDFMaps/Urban%20Services%20District.pdf

What no_one said. If you lived in Knoxville, would you buy a house in Orlando to generate rental income to pay for your Knoxville mortgage? Although the steps are in the reverse order of what you're considering, the end result is the same.

It's a holiday weekend, and FCC regulations say that every B-list cable channel has to do a marathon of some show every holiday weekend. It further states the marathon must be related to the holiday, or that a catchy holiday-related re-titling be done for the marathon, thus the "Dead, White, and Blue Marathon" was born...er...um....raised. It's the same reason TNT has to show "Independence Day" at least 4 times over the weekend.

And thus ends the entirety of soccer on US TV stations for another 4 years. Too bad those 4 years will go by fast.

AIUI, they can still track where you go and how long you're there even with MAC spoofing. The catch is that on your next visit to that store, or another of that chain's locations, or any other store with customers being tracked by the same tracking service, you'll appear as a brand new customer. The MAC spoofing will prevent a store (or chain of stores) from building a long-term profile on a customer based on the MAC address. I'm not super-duper up to speed on this tech, so I could be mistaken.
