  1. I know I need proof of having taken the Hunter Ed class with me. Do I need to always have the card from the class on me when hunting, or does the hunting license suffice since it has "Hunter Safety Verified by TWRA" printed on it?       Update: I called the Region 2 office to find out. Operator was unsure but thought I needed to have the card. Waiting on a call-back from someone who will know for sure. I'll post here with the results.
  2. One key difference in overall "safety" between the two cities is that Nashville's high-crime areas are more localized in certain neighborhoods while Memphis' high crime areas are more generalized. It reminds me of some east coast cities like Baltimore where you can go from uber-rich to gutter-trash-poor in about a block. That means that in Nashville, I feel "safe" in most areas I go. I recognize bad things still happen in Brentwood, Green Hills, West End, etc. but they're not common. Much of Memphis feels like East Nashville to me. Even when it's good, it's close to bad and my spidey senses are up.
  3. No, a 1911 will kill 1,911 people just by being in the same room. THAT'S the power of the .45 ACP, which we all know stands for Armored Cop Penetrator
  4.   10 days down. Still shows Status:Order received.
  5. With Target, Wal-Mart, Lowes, Dick's, and Costco at Nashville West, I'm not sure which anchor store would be interested in Bellevue. There's already a Publix next door. I'd like to see an Academy on the west side, but I don't see why they'd take a gamble on going into a new development at a location with a history of not being able to support a shopping destination when the high-traffic Nashville West is just 2 exits away.
  6. I laughed. don't know that I laughed enough to be worth the price of admission, but it has its funny moments.   I'm looking forward to The Interview with Seth Rogen and James Franco.
  7. They did. I suspect Nerf may own a substantial amount of stock in Springfield, or vice-versa.

  9. http://www.gallatingun.com/matches.asp Robert's contact info is at the top of that page.
  10. Go to the Bellevue Sears. It's a ghost town most days, so BF looks like a regular day at a normal Sears.
  11. Breaking News! Springfiled XD Mod3 spy photos released!
  12.   To each his own. I think it's uglier than an ugly thing that is unattractive. There's almost as much meat in that slide as on a Hi-point. I suppose that's an XD hallmark though, and the main reason I don't like them. All that extra metal makes them top heavy to me and just plain heavier to carry than what they're supposed to be competing against. Namely Glock and Smith's M&P. I had an XD subcompact which I shot as well as any other pistol (and better than some), but it was just too heavy when compared to a G26. Add in the fact that the grip length on this Mod2 "subcompact" is almost the same as a G19, and I think I'll pass.   I'm glad they decided to print "GRIP ZONE" prominently on there. Otherwise I'd have had no idea what to do with that part of the gun.
  13.   Better start camping now. :)
  14. I suspect Primary Arms will have them. They usually include them in their sales.
  15. My parents used to live in a small town in Alabama. We'd go there for Thanksgiving and I'd get up and go BF shopping on Friday. Not much to choose from, but Home Depot, Wal-Mart, and a Belk. It was so unlike our cities. You could go to HD an hour after opening and still have a good chance at getting their most popular door busters. I did a little last year here in Nashville, but so far, I'm not seeing anything that makes me want to fight the crazies.
  16. I got all excited about the Gander Mtn ad's Mosin 91/30, then I saw that it's used.  :(
  17.   This. Being very new to hunting, I can't understand the point of muzzle loader season. ISTM that a modern muzzie is not really different from a centerfire, other than being more cumbersome to use and something else to have to spend money on to stretch the "gun" season.
  18. Why not? I'm in. Sounds like fun.   I did this for many years on another board with members all over the world and that was fun. I've dropped off that site over time so I don't participate in their SS any longer since I'm rarely there.     Daniel, how do you get our mailing addresses to send out to our Santa? Should we PM those to you? I know David has mine from a TGO swag order, but I don't know what you have access to. If you want to dig through some of your 4473's you can find it there too. :D
  19.   That's cuz in the first one he's pretending to be a cheetah!
  20. Like I said. For those commodity guns, GnL can get pretty dang competitive with Internet sales. For that $24.24 difference, I'd go see Metal and walk out the door with it.   I don't know if they include a range pass with transfers like they do with regular sales, but if so that's worth $10 and cuts the difference to < $15.00.
  21. I ordered this on Friday morning after spotting this deal. Good price. We'll see how quickly they send it out. As of now, the order does not show as shipped.
  22. It's at the intersection of Gallatin Road/31E and New Shackle Island.
  23. What joe45 said. I find Goodlettsville and GnL to be highly competitive with online stores for the commodity guns (Glock, XD, etc.). They'll occasionally actually beat online on a special shipment or overstocks. Other stuff, not so much, but I almost always call one or both to give them a chance before I click "Buy Now".
  24. See post #35 above....     Chop 'em up with the propellers.  :D   If they're maintaining it, and if you could fill it up with a full tank of diesel, it has a range of 150 miles on land and 75 at sea. It would make an interesting survival vehicle if you had the time to retrofit some extra diesel tanks into the cargo area along with adding living spaces and weapons points. Slow though. The walkers may be faster than that thing.
