  1. As for the OP, I'd like to see: The repeal of all posting laws and all carry restrictions in all places. Period. More realistically I'd like to see: A repeal of posting of parks and government buildings by local governments A change to make a park not become a school if the high school cross-country team shows up A bill expressly removing liability from employers for workplace gun violence (negligence laws would still apply)
  2.   Local municipalities exercising the power given to them by state law. This is not because of a lack of preemption. Preemption means that the local governments can't have their own gun laws separate from and in addition to the state laws. If you want parks to not be postable, that takes a change to a current state law, not the state preempting local laws.   I'm sure someone will be along to correct me soon.   ;)
  3. I'm not looking to gather strength for the fight. I just go to shows for the $700 Glock 19s, $250 Mosin 91/30s, $75 bricks of .22 and the occasional funnel cake.
  4.   This! If I ever see any for about $20 bucks or so, I'll buy as many as I can get and put them away for some $100 gift cards.
  5. For $250 you really can't get much in the market. Most mutual funds have at least a $1,000 minimum. Index funds often have $2500 minimums.   I don't know how that might differ when they're wrapped in a 529. If there are no minimums, I'd suggest doing that. It will also save a bunch on taxes.   Even if you can get a 15% average return (S&P 500 indexes return around 15-16% on average*), it's only going to turn into about $4500 over 20 years which will have the equivalent buying power of about $2500 today. Not exactly lifestyles of the rich and famous, but it will help pay some school costs.   Savings account, US Treasury bond, money market account, or a CD are all bad investments for this. Those are all short-term vehicles for keeping cash liquid while only slightly offsetting some of the lost buying power by not keeping up with inflation.       *In 2008/2009 the S%P indexes took an almost 40% decrease. So you have to play the long game.
  6.   I think they're all his own real-life exploits.
  7. I do, but it's usually on the other end of the barrel.
  8. My dad has one. We'll never sell it because it's so bad it's great.
  9. The 5-0 Radio app that I linked to above in the Apple store is free. I know there are some free ones for Android too.
  10. +1 to the 5-0 Radio app. The LAPD Code3/Hot Shots channel can be interesting late at night. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/5-0-radio-pro-police-scanner/id341776037?mt=8   There are some for Android too. Search for police scanner in the Google store.
  11. Ft. Nashboro is still there.
  12. After the Capitol tour, go across the street to Legislative Plaza. The entrance to the TN State War Museum is in the SW corner. It's small, but well done and has some nice pieces including a few MoH medals. It's free, as is the TN State Museum in the same building as TPAC across 6th Ave from Legislative Plaza. On the SW corner of 6th and Union is The Hermitage Hotel. When you enter, take the stairs down to the right. Go down the hallway and hang a left to the men's room. It's the coolest men's room I've ever seen. Al Capone used to hide out in there when the feds came looking for him. There's an alcove behind the mirror to the left of the shoe shine stand. The mirror used to move, but they attached it permanently during the big remodel a few years ago.   You could go through the Arcade on your way down the hill to Broadway. Entrances are on 4th and 5th between Union and Church. The one on 5th is next to the Walgreen's. Not a whole lot in there these days, but the Peanut Shop is worth stopping at and getting a big bag of peanuts to take home. Their old fashioned candy is great too including malted milk balls the size of pool balls.   A backstage tour at the Ryman, maybe?
  13. +1 to the pottery thing. Brushfire is in Green Hills. It's a good one.
  14. Oh Shoot posted that link in the ongoing discussion. Post #86. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/83504-new-twist-in-the-sig-brace-debate/?p=1233419
  15. My TGO-15 lower has been in the safe until last month when I finally put the LPK in it. I built it alongside a PSA lower and it was like a Ferrari next to a Trabant. I didn't realize just how nice the CMT lower was until then.   I need an AR-10 like my wife needs another purse, so I'm in when this gets put together.  :D
  16. It doesn't look much worse that some of the SKS rifles I've seen over at Classic.
  17. If Glock can't make a single-stack 9mm any better than they can make a "pocket" .380, I'll pass. That G42 is larger and heavier than the LCP or P3AT with no additional rounds. I invision the same thing from a Glock SS 9mm when compared to the Kahr or Shield.
  18.   I'm not ashamed to say that I needed a minute myself. The closing montage of actual footage was a powerful and appropriate tribute.   :usa:  :usa:  :usa: :usa:  :usa:  :usa:  :usa:  :usa:  :usa:  :usa:
  19.   Kind of gives a new meaning to "gun rug"
  20. So it expressly states that -1313 applies to schools even though -1313 already applies to schools? That's some valuable legislation right there.
  21.   I thought so too. -1313 doesn't say anything about "notwithstanding -1309 (or -1311 parks etc.)" so it would apply everywhere, right? What exactly is the point of this addition to -1309?
  22. If anyone needs the URL:   http://www.nraam.org/   Click the big blue Pre-Register button on the right. Registration will get you access to the exhibit hall. There are other events as well which require tickets (and $). You can see those from the "Special Events" option in the black menu bar on the page I linked.
  23. I'm going. Just pre-registered.   I too would like to hear about any efforts they have in the TN state legislature to lift carry restrictions.
