  1.   Spiffy, ignore nightrunner. He doesn't know what he's talking about. Your M885 is 30 better than that M855 stuff. Besides, the ATF backed off their M855 ban but they didn't say anything at all about backing off on an M885 ban. A year from now you'll be wishing you had bought another 10K at that price.
  2.   There's a scroll window of photos. One of them shows the top of the receiver. 1946 is on it.
  3.   This x 1,000.   The heavier the gun, the stiffer/tighter the belt needs to be. I need to use my gun belt with a G26/19, but I can use just about any old belt with a Kahr PM9 or a Ruger LCP.
  4. Yep. Ivan was one tough SOB.
  5. I'm not ashamed to say I have a rubber slip-on nancy pad on my 91/30. It's a cheap-o Winchester one from Wal-Mart. Size small fits the Mosin stocks. I don't have one on my M44. If I were shooting it a lot (more than say 20 rounds at a time) in the summer, I'd wuss out and put one on it too. It does tame the impact into the shoulder well. Winter's no big deal with heavier jackets to take some of the punch, but that bare metal butt plate isolated from my skin by a mere T-shirt can wear me out quick.
  6. It was made in the Izhevsk plant (triangle with arrow) in 1946. Looks to be in pretty good shape.   The tool that looks like a mini saw/key ring is a gauge for checking the firing pin for proper positioning. there are Youtube videos on how to check that. Look for some YouTube videos for taking down the bolt. It's the same bolt as the 91/30 so a video on that one will be the same steps. Most videos of the bolt assembly will show how to check the firing pin.
  7. You heard it here first, folks. In the zombie apolcalypse, Caster is instituting Tuxedo Tuesdays. :D   As for the RV, I can get why they don't have some super cool ride like that Actionmobil. Those are rare and not the kind of thing you'd find just sitting on a lot in a small town, or even in Atlanta's suburbs, but come on. It has been a year and a half (maybe 2?) since the outbreak. surely they could have found a Prevost or something. Heck, get in one of those abandoned big rigs, armor it, and retrofit a 53' trailer. Plenty of those abandoned auto shops have torches and tanks to start the welding. It may not be fancy, but it can roll on through a lot of herds with a nice plow on the front. Mount some .50's from those Hummers at the CDC area on top of the cab and trailer and call it a day.   Why stop at 1? They roll up on a group of bad guys, with 3 armored and armed large vehicles, it's over without a fight.   The possibilities of what you can do to armor and arm something like that are incredible. My post-apocalypse ride's going to look like James Bond and Mad Max had a crazy, albeit regrettable, night in Vegas.
  8.   they have..... http://www.fox23.com/news/news/breaking-news/woman-caught-making-meth-inside-s-tulsa-walmart/ndkkT/ http://www.click2houston.com/news/man-arrested-for-lewd-act-with-walmart-stuffed-animal/29140044   There's also this one: http://boingboing.net/2012/06/07/walmart-breaks-bad-active-met.html Cooking the meth after being left alone in the store's holding cell after being caught shoplifting.
  9. I think the stamp is just a stamp. A kid's way of saying "you belong here". It wasn't present on the townspeople until the party, so I don't see it as anything else. The W on the other hand is clearly the wolf mark. The chocolate was for use as a cover story in case anyone saw her entering or leaving. She definitely didn't expect the kid to follow her. I loved her monologue. Carol is far and away the most dangerous one in the group. Aaron talking about Buttons was not an analogy of Alexandria. It was about Darryl. He said buttons always ran, when all Aaron wanted to do was bring him in to a place that was safe with people who would help him, but Buttons couldn't understand that and kept running. Now he's walker food. That's how Aaron feels about Darryl. He needs to come in and stop running or he'll end up like Buttons. I agree that the motorcycle parts stocking was to make it into a hobby to pass the time, but that still doesn't explain why Aaron somehow got Dale-itis and drives around in that POS RV. Seriously....is there no RV Super Center anywhere near these people? Armor up a Prevost and hit the road.
  10.   Come on man! That's how rumors get started! It was because the hoarder was making meth in an emptied out 2L bottle in the men's room then defiled a stuffed animal on aisle 12. Get the facts straight next time.
  11.   That's good thinking. In an emergency, you could use it as an anchor or a jack stand.
  12. The Warner parks are Nashville city parks, not state parks. They're off-limits per city ordinance and are posted (mostly) in the proper places.   State Parks are good to go. The only parks that qualify in Nashville are Bicentennial Mall, Long Hunter, and Radnor Lake. Technically the Harpeth River S.P. has a small Nashville presence at the Hwy 100 bridge/canoe launch. You will sometimes find signs at the entrance to the state parks which say "No firearms permitted" or something similar. These signs are old and do not apply to HCP holders. They were left in place because to remove them and put up new signs would have had a fiscal note attached to the bill which allowed state park carry and would have made it DOA. The signs will be changed as they age and need to be replaced, at which time the part about firearms will be omitted from the new signs.   Another TGOer has pointed out that several of the Nashville city parks are located in part or in full on state owned land, but administered by the city. These can't be posted per the letter of the law (posting requires both owners to approve posting and the state doesn't do that). If you want to research land deeds and be willing to be a test case, more power to you. Otherwise, Nashville city parks are a no-go.
  13. I suspect it wouldn't be a major challenge to mount it on a set of motorized gimbals, mate it to a tracking system with cameras, and put it up high enough to give it a downward angle into the engine bay.   Skynet is coming.
  14.   FIFY!
  15. It's not just old, but a bad fit to begin with. Here's a G26 in a soft Remora. Notice how much more of the firearm (esp. the trigger guard) it covers than the one in the OP. I have no issues with using the soft Remora holster.
  16. I'll be parking at the library. $10 max on Friday. $5 on Saturday and Sunday. It's a nice walk from there to the MCC.   Parking at the MCC is $18 max/day. The lots around it will vary from $5 to $20 in no apparently logical fashion.
  17. Welcome to the state of free parking for disabled drivers. Seriously.   Your plate/placard entitles you to free parking at all parking meters and at all parking facilities owned or operated by any governmental agency. Tennessee Statute, T.C.A. 55-21-105(a) states: "No state agency, county, city, town or other municipality or any agency thereof shall exact any fee for parking on any street or highway or in any metered parking space. The parking privileges granted by this section are limited to any disabled driver or disabled passenger to whom the distinctive license plates or placards were issued." That doesn't apply to private parking structures, but does apply to publically owned land operated by private contractors. That includes the Music City Center. I'm not exactly sure how that works at the MCC. The downtown library garage has parking attendants at the exits. You write down your name, address, and plate/placard # on your parking ticket and they let you out of the garage at no charge. The MCC's garage is fully automated. You go to a kiosk and insert your ticket and pay. Then you insert your ticket into a machine at the exit which knows if you paid or not and lets you out (or doesn't). I don't really know how you'd get your parking validated. You could call the MCC at (615) 401-1300 and ask.   You may be pushing it on the NRA membership. I bought an annual membership for a friend about a month ago and he just got his card. By the time you get yours it may be too late to pre-register. You may have to wait in line at the MCC to get your convention credentials. You could call the NRA and ask if they have assigned you a number yet. Once you have a number you can preregister. You don't need the physical card. NRA Customer Service: (800) 672-3888
  18.   Sure. It's called one that has already been overrun with brain-dead zombies.
  19.   Yep, you're right. Nothing written on the walls. The comic says "WOLF FIGHT!" on the back.
  20. Good one, but I wouldn't have filled it with water.
  21. Got the cans filled up this weekend. They seal up tight! The plastic CARB cans would just about get me high on the way home from all the fumes they leaked sitting in the back of my SUV. These have zero escaping gasoline odor. That's not a surprise though. When I opened them for the first time there was a hiss when the air pressure inside changed to match the outside.   I may buy more cans, but I don't think I'll ever need to replace these in my lifetime.
  22.   I missed that. "Wolves Here" was painted on the wall around Noah's neighborhood. That's what's going to tie the two enclaves together. Whoever did the zombie dismembering is going to be the antagonist against Alexandria. As "off" as Alexandria seems to be at the moment, I suspect the congresscritter is still better than whoever is choppping 'em up and leaving 'em dangerous....unless Alexandria are the ones doing the chopping.
  23.   You could be on to something, but I think it will just be Darryl who is asked to leave.
