CMMG...Why, oh, why did I listen to Outpost Armory?

Me too. Still thinking about it....strongly. -
Don't shoot in the air but if you do, we won't charge you???

But the article said that even if the police could prove who fired the shots, the magistrate won't hand down a warrant. That means it's effectively not a criminal act regardless of what the municpal code says. That makes it sort of like the old ordinances in some TN towns that say a man has to walk in front of an automobile waving 2 red or orange flags if a woman is driving, to warn pedestrians and other drivers. It's still on the books in some places, but not enforced so it may as well not be there. -

But apparently not criminally negligent in Davidson Co. -

I've got my eye on the CMMG MK-47 Mutant. I don't know why, but I like it. I have their metal .22LR conversion kit for the AR. I like it. If I keep it clean and oiled it works just fine. -

This thread has been dormant for a year. If you have a problem with it, that's your fault. Don't expect TGO or the board software company to make things right. You should have brought it up sooner. -

Not charged criminally, perhaps, but there could still be a civil suit if the shooter could be found. -

That's incorrect. Metro Nashville-Davidson County is divided into two areas, Urban Services and General Services. It's 100% banned all the time outside of shooting ranges in the Urban Services district. In the urban services district, notice that airguns and paintball guns are included. The General Services district is OK during the daytime. While the ordinance allows lawful hunting in the urban services district, I don't know of anywhere in the urban services district where you can be far enough away from an occupied dwelling to not violate TWRA rules, so it's sort of a moot point. As a general guide, if the main streets have street lights and your trash gets picked up by Metro, you're probably in the urban services. There are maps available on the Metro Planning Commission's site if anyone cares that much. Here's the Nashville municple code: -

The way I read section (c ), the revocation of the HCP only applies if the violation occurs in an establishment described in (b )( 1). Correct? The sunglasses are caused by not adding a space after the "b" in parenthesis. So (b) needs to be written as (b ). Or you can use the [ code ] tag around the whole copy of the law. That's how I got the b to show properly above. Start with [ code ] and end with [ /code ] without the spaces in between the brackets. It will then show as follows. Nothing you can do about the color coding though as the board software then thinks it's a computer code language and it's trying to color code keywords: 39-17-1321. Possession of handgun while under influence -- Penalty. (a) Notwithstanding whether a person has a permit issued pursuant to § 39-17-1315 or § 39-17-1351, it is an offense for a person to possess a handgun while under the influence of alcohol or any controlled substance or controlled substance analogue. (b) It is an offense for a person to possess a firearm if the person is both: (1) Within the confines of an establishment open to the public where liquor, wine or other alcoholic beverages, as defined in § 57-3-101(a)(1)(A), or beer, as defined in § 57-6-102, are served for consumption on the premises; and (2) Consuming any alcoholic beverage listed in subdivision (b)(1). (c) (1) A violation of this section is a Class A misdemeanor. (2) In addition to the punishment authorized by subdivision (c)(1), if the violation is of subsection (a), occurs in an establishment described in subdivision (b)(1), and the person has a handgun permit issued pursuant to § 39-17-1351, such permit shall be suspended in accordance with § 39-17-1352 for a period of three (3) years. -

This has come up on a few other threads lately. There's no BAC number for "under the influence" in regards to handguns. Read TCA 39-17-1321 for the actual law on handguns and alcohol/drugs. It doesn't say anything about .08, just "under the influence". -
The Russian way of dealing with submarines

In America, you sink tank. In Mother Russia, tank sink you! -
The USAF still flies the F-15 on active duty, not just the reserves. They fly them out of: Seymour-Johnson AFB, N. Carolina (the BEST name for a base in human history) Kadena AFB, Okinawa, Japan RAF Lakenheath, England Eglin AFB, Florida Nellis AFB, Nevada Mountain Home AFB, Idaho +1 to atlas3025. I'd take the F-15E Strike Eagle over any production aircraft in the world for air superiority, except the F-22. But, back to the OP. Someone Instagramed a photo and they were two F-16s from the Oklahoma ANG. https://instagram.com/p/4sR43yk7zv/

Survey says: 35 percent of Americans would expatriate
monkeylizard replied to Grand Torino's topic in General Chat
That's just it. Nobody said anything about renouncing citizenship in the survey. The question is simply, would you live abroad? If offered a good job in your field with enough of a pay raise to offset the increased cost of living, would you take a job in Germany? What if the pay raise was substantially more than the increased cost of living? I know I would consider taking that, but not because I hate America and want to leave. -

I think that some of you guys are confusing "willing to live and work in another country" with "AMERICA SUCKS AND I WANT TO LEAVE!" We're in a global economy where opportunities often mean relocation, especially in certain fields. If the question is "Are you willing to move outside of the USA?" then that's very different from "Do you want to leave the USA?". This survey is asking the former, not the later. -

I've lived in a few other countries. Given the right opportunity, I'd do so again. I don't know that I'd want to make it a very long term arrangement, but a few years would be OK by me, in the right place. +1 to Costa Rica pricing itself out of the expat market lately. Nicaragua was looking good for a while, but I'd have to have a "get out and fast" plan all lined up for that one. It's not the Nicaragua of the 1980s, but it's not exactly rock stable either. Belize has the advantage of being an official English-speaking country, but given that many people under 50 in Latin America speak English, it wouldn't be so bad. An expat would pick up Spanish pretty quick. It's one of the easier languages to learn. Anywhere in Asia would be much harder to transition too. Languages are drastically different as are most alphabets, and as backwards as some of the Central American countries are, they're the Ritz Carlton compared to much of SE Asia. Agreed that living abroad is totally different than renouncing citizenship. I'd live in a lot of places and visit more than that, but I'll always keep my blue passport. -
Carrying into someone's home?
monkeylizard replied to Grayfox54's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I'd carry and keep it quiet, especially since you won't be drinking. TN has no law requiring you to inform the homeowner. Not exactly. You're still not violating any laws by bringing your gun when asked not to. If you're asked to leave (for any reason) and don't, then it's trespassing. -
Carrying a Handgun in TN
monkeylizard replied to conn_air7's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
That's one reason that my first carry gun was an XD. The grip safety gave me peace of mind with the lack of any other external safety. After a while, it became clear to me that that's unnecessary, so I sold the XD and now carry something much lighter with no grip safety and still no external safety. I don't regret having bought the XD because it served its purpose and helped me become comfortable with carrying a condition-1 firearm. -
Hearing good things about Mr. Robot on USA. Got it queuing up in the DVR.

I'd say that was poorly worded. What about women attending as competitors? And why single out women? Does IDPA think their sensitive widdle ears can't handle the man talk?

They're both on a 4 year cycle, but offset by 1 year from one another. Men's will be in 2018, women's again in 2019.

Carrying a Handgun in TN

Maybe. The instructor at Vol State also teaches the criminal justice classes. If you have a community college in Chatt. with a criminal justice program, you could call and ask if they have the occasional 1-day class like Vol State does. Vol State classifies it under its lifelong learning programs rather than part of an accredited associates degree program. Kind of like motorcycle riding instruction. -

I know it'd be a long haul from Cleveland, but Vol State community college in Gallatin occasionally offers a great one-day (Saturday) class on self-defense law. There's not one scheduled right now, but check every few months if you're interested. The instructor gets into a lot more of what the law really says, not what an HCP instructor's opinion is. Then you get to try out techniques with the live-action simulator. I learned a lot in that class, both on the law side and the practical side using the simulator. I'd take it again if I see it being offered. http://registration.xenegrade.com/volstate Keyword: firearm
