Revolution Safes at NRA Convention...did anyone get a look?
monkeylizard replied to WarPig's topic in General Chat
Shelves in most safes are plywood or particle board covered in fabric. 1/2" plywood will hold guns just fine. -
It's normal for a health care provider to ask that at the beginning of the conversation. If you have a carrier they don't accept, then getting all your personal information and finding out what you need done is a waste of everyone's time, unless you happen to be able to pay 100% out of pocket which is unusual these days. I'd be more upset if they took the time to get my information, get the referring doctor's information, find out a good time for me to come in, then tell me "oh, sorry. we don't take XYZ insurance." As for the location, you do know that some people live and work in different places, right? Depending on the time of day, an office near my work may be more convenient for me than an office near my home.

I'd like to know what gauge steel they used in the body. I don't see it on their site. -
Nashville Armory / Permit Class
monkeylizard replied to Fourtyfive's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
No, no....If you shoot wildly, you'll be charged an additional $8 for every wild shot above their magic line. -
Between now and a few weeks will be good. I start my leafy greens for a fall crop in mid August. If I cover them for light frost, I'll still be getting some lettuce and swiss chard into December.

Nashville Armory / Permit Class

I liked the class at GnL. If you're in Williamson Co., the Sheriff's dep't used to do classes too. Don't know if they still do. -
Yep! That's it. That car is so full of win, it hurts. It's crazy though. What are the odds that a TGOer would own know this car?
-
Yeah, I bet "he" does. Why don't you get us some pictures of "his" vehicle.
-
I have bolded the relevant part of that statement.
-
Yep. I think the flag pole installation was better engineered than the car.
-
It was missing several body panels, including the hood and front grill and bumper. Just an exposed radiator and engine up front. What I love are the guy lines anchoring that flag pole. If you're going to fly a flag as big as your car at 65mph, it needs to be stable.

Sorry. Embedded photo has been fixed.

Premiers August 23rd. It's time to start a thread for this show too.

I saw you on I-40 this morning.

Yeah....a lot of our gun laws have changed over the past SIX YEARS. :D
-
That law doesn't apply to LBL. It applies to lands managed by the state of TN. LBL is Corps of Engineers territory. From the HandgunLaw link you provided, the bottom of page 5 is interesting. They're basically saying "it's ilegal, but unless you give us a reason to care, we don't care."
-
FYI - LBL prohibits firearm posession other than for hunting in season and at their range. From their FAQ page:

Carrying a Handgun in TN
monkeylizard replied to conn_air7's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
A federal building is not automatically off limits just because it's federal. They have to be posted in accordance with 18 USC 930. https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/930 Not posted, not off limits per part (h ) of the law linked above. USPS is covered under a different statute than other federal facilities, so they don't have to be posted. They're still off-limits. I don't know if VA facilities have their own special section of the law like the USPS and whether they have to be posted or not. ETA: While that info about National Parks is correct, those buildings regularly occupied by rangers or other federal employees must be posted to be off-limits. The NPS is not special, like the post office. The NPS is generally pretty good about posting all of their buildings where rangers regularly work, as opposed to say a snack bar staffed by contractors which they generally don't post. While I wish we could carry in all buildings in the National Parks, I appreciate that they're dilligent about posting their buildings appropriately so we don't have to discern if a ranger works there or not. -
TN Attorney General Opinon On Park Property
monkeylizard replied to 300winmag's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I don't know why you keep referring to the AG as a Chief LEO. He's not a law enforcement offcier. He's the other side of that coin. -
Yep. Last I heard is that the ranges should be open in October (but could be November). The store is nice and well stocked at (mostly) reasonable prices.

Half? Lightweight.

TN Attorney General Opinon On Park Property
monkeylizard replied to 300winmag's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I'm not one either. Notice that I did say the LEO could charge you for it. I just don't see how it could stand up in court. A public place, owend and operated by the public via thier city/local government for the express purpose of being used by the public? I don't see how you could be trespassing if you're not violating any lawful rules. Charged with it, sure, but not convicted of it. But like so many things, it depends on how deep your pockets go. -
From Nashville, it's hard to beat Southwest's prices or flight availability. Google Flights is hands-down the best search tool if you know your destination. Its bar-graph is awesome for adjusting dates to find the best prices. Like most search tools, it does not include Southwest. Fare Compare has a nice tool for finding flights if you departure and dates are known, but don't care where you're going (ie. "Show me some cheap flights from Knoxville and I'll see if they're going anywhere I'd like to go") http://www.farecompare.com/maps/
