Rednecks...a Whole New Level of Stupid!

There's not enough Natural Light in the world to make me drunk enough to associate Rosie with women. -

+1 to JeffL's shed. I swear you'll think you've travelled so far into East Nashville that you ought to be in Wilson Co., but it's worth the drive. -

I blame the US Supreme Court. Just a few years ago we'd have never had a story about two Johnsons fighting over a cock.- 24 replies

You can always use another rain barrel. Get a couple of cans of the "stone" spray paint at Lowes/Homer and dress it up a bit.

Here's an older one that's still quite good.

Fear The Walking Dead (Los Angeles spinoff)
monkeylizard replied to monkeylizard's topic in General Chat
I think that the only thing he's hiding is that he thinks Travis is an idiot and is going to get them all killed. He has no desire to try to survive a societal collapse* with that wuss, a whiny girl, and a drug addict. *Even Daniel can't fully understand what's coming. He probably thinks it's a relatively short-term (6 months to a few years) of social unrest and lawlessness until a medical cure is found. He has to think that if he can get out to a less populated area, he and his family will be OK. He can't possibly know this is the new normal for a very long time for the entire world. -

There isn't a cousin. That was just a lie Daniel told so they'd be left behind "waiting on his cousin" and depart from the family. He can't leave now that his wife is injured, so he has to try to get the others to leave him and his family. The neighbor also taking out the trash looks like he might be interesting. -

Company or store policy. No laws about that. -

It depends on the size of your pockets. I have a Kahr PM9. With the right holster, it would work fine, but that's about as large as I think I could go for pocket carry. I don't think I could do it comfortably with my Glock G43. I had a Ruger LCP and it was easy to pocket carry, but I get 9mm over .380 for the slight increase in size to the PM9, which is a good trade off IMO.

If a "pop tart gun" is reason enough for a 2-day suspension, spent brass will get you 30 days in a re-education camp. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/05/16/pop-tart-gun-suspension_n_3285221.html

Fear The Walking Dead (Los Angeles spinoff)
monkeylizard replied to monkeylizard's topic in General Chat
I liked the very end of Ep. 3 with Daniel looking out the window at the Army marking the house across the street and saying something like "It's already too late." He gets it. The 2 things that bug me in this show were hit on above: lack of remorse for killing (at this point), and lack of getting supplies. Madison crushed her boss' head with a fire extinguisher and she and Travis watched they're son/stepson kill his friend with the truck but neither reacted in a way that a normal person would when killing another person. Self defense in both cases to be sure, and they know something's not right, but there should have been more anguish over both cases. As far as they know it's a possibly curable disease. They have not yet seen the dead reanimate (they kind of sort of did with Cal, but they didn't know for sure he was dead). They've seen nothing that couldn't be explained by drugs or a chemical imbalance in the brain/body, but within a day or two Madison is ready to sink a ball peen hammer into her neighbor's head when she's contained and not an immediate threat? Travis saw the cop loading water and Madison helped Tobias loot the school's cafeteria. Then after the neighbor that ate their dog was killed, they didn't go loot his car/house? They saw him loading stuff in the car. He's dead. He won't be needing it. Go get it for yourselves. They're obviously OK with that since they went in and stole Patrick's shotgun. They also never checked on the birthday party people. They should be over there as either good neighbors checking on their well-being, or over there to loot the heck out of their kitchen and garage. Pick one depending on their current state of mind. If they're OK with killing people they're close with, taking their stuff should be no problem. Plus why aren't they filling the bathtubs and sinks and pots with water? That's supposed to be SOP after an earthquake so Californians would know to do that in an emergency. Maybe that's the way it goes though. They're in a state of dissonance with their normality, so maybe some things go on as normal while others have already broken, and other things swing back and forth on the way to breaking. Like Travis and the neighbor both taking the trash cans to the curb because it's trash day. They know the garbage men won't be coming around, but they did that anyway. -

AIUI, TFA is as close to that as we get. I know they're active with the legislature. Just a guess, but GCA may be better funded than TFA. Lawsuits get expensive. -

I have a Kahr PM9 and a Glock G43. For most practical purposes, they're the same height and width with their flush magazines, but the Glock has a longer barrel. That extra length means there's no way I would consider it for pocket carry. The PM9 is about as big as I can see trying to pocket carry. The Kahr's trigger is smoother than the Glock's, but it has a lot more take up with a longer reset and not much feedback on when you're going from taking up the slack to BANG. Both have been flawless, handling any FMJ or JHP I've thrown at them. The grip stipling on the Glock is more aggressive. That's nice for shooting, but less so for IWB in a holster w/o a sweat shield. I trust my life with both. If I had neither and was buying one of those two, I'd get the G43. The extra barrel length doesn't bother me with IWB and I like the trigger better. It's almost identical to my G26 and G19, so all my carry guns have the same trigger feel. Don't be surprised if her opinion on external safeties evolves over time as she carries. My first carry gun was an XD-40 subcompact. I bought it because of the grip safety. That made me more confident in carrying. The more I carried, the less I felt the need for that and the more I realized just how much freakin heavier that gun is than a comparable Glock. You may start with a Shield to get that safety switch, then later find that she wants a G43, or that LCR, perhaps in .38 for the weight reduction.

On second thought..... WOLVERINES!!!!!! The original, of course. Though I guess it's more foreign invasion than apocalypse. The kids went through similar survival stuff though. Maybe not terribly realistic, but a good movie that makes me want to shout " 'Merica!"

It's a hard choice between Night of the Comet and This Is The End. :D Seriously though, I liked the bleakness of The Road, but there weren't enough people to keep it terribly interesting. Book of Eli was good. I actually kind of like The Postman. Don't hate me for admitting that.
