  1. CVA Accura and use Powerbelt bullets (250 gr.).  Here's a link to the rifle and bullet sites, and these have been feeding my friends and my family for a while now!   http://cva.com/Accura-Rifle-from-CVA.php   http://www.powerbeltbullets.com/
  2. What we have here is a failure to communicate!  Folks, I have a Sunbeam Ultrasonic Egg Dog Bark Control Device from Petsmart that works really well on my Half Pit / Half Lab mix.  He used to bark all the time, but no more!  Here's a link to start your research:   "http://www.petsmart.com/dog/bark-control/sunbeam-ultrasonic-egg-dog-bark-control-device-zid36-5169731/cat-36-catid-100125"   Hopefully the link works!  I have neighbors with dogs that don't bark when it is on.  The guys just can't figure it out!!!
  3. I beg to differ with the idea that there is not enough / too low supply versus too high demand in the realm of 22lr.  When I can patiently wait and still get decent priced ammo from Target Sports USA and Cabelas shipped at about 10.5 cents per round in this market, which does still bother me that it has made it to this level, I have to say there will be an end to the madness sometime in our lifetimes.  There is a large amount of ammo already out there on Gunbroker that the gougers have built up for sale.  I see that they used to try to sale 500 round bricks, then it was 1000 rounds, and I just saw where there was a few with 10,000, 33,000, all the way to 55,000!  Sooner or later the old gougers are going to realize that they aren't ever going to sell those large stashes of over-priced 22lr.  That is when the prices will normal out, and Walmart will make us all happy again.   Anyone buying from those gougers is just prolonging this madness.  I don't like how much I had to spend to get some, but I am out of the market until it does normalize.  I can control that "want to be greedy" attitude, and not become a hoarder!
  4. Another site that I bought from too!     "http://www.cncwarrior.com"
  5. Here is a website that I have used and bought from with no hassles!  Carolina Shooters Supply:   "http://www.carolinashooterssupply.com/category_s/1897.htm"   Prices aren't too high, and they have everything needed to put on a muzzle brake or fix the threads if they get messed up!  Just pay attention to the thread patterns...
  6. Any way to do this on Gunbroker?  There's lots of gouging on that site!
  7. I really think you might score a purchase faster via "http://www.gunbot.net/ammo/rimfire/22lr/"  You will need to live on this site, but....   I just got a couple 325 count cans of Federal 36 gr HP with shipping for $78.24.  Just about $0.12 per round is as cheap as your going to get without being at Walmart by 6:00 AM to beat the gougers!
  8. I've sold a few, bought a few more, and try to keep the calibers to a minimum for purchasing bullets!  I can't say that I have an emotional attachment to any of my weapons, but have been known to give some away to young men graduating high school for the purpose of deer hunting and home defense.  I guess I'm holding on to the rest for my daughter's future husband!   I used to have more time to hunt, and still enjoy going out to the ranges when I can.  I only keep those that I can hit the targets with consistently, and those that can serve their purpose in taking game animals or keeping my family safe.  I have a few black powder weapons that are going to be going to my next round of friend's kids to teach them about hunting the very over populated deer and coyotes in our area!  I use my resources and talents to teach the next generation that guns do have a place in their lives.  I don't really care if they scratch them, as long as they learn how to use them safely.
  9. Over the last two months I have tried to get to a Walmart to get 22lr, but all the Clerks look at me crazy!  They immediately give me a dirty look, and say there isn't any 22lr.  I even got the link from another site that checks Walmart's inventory system to see if there is / was any at the stores I visited:  "http://findmeammo.com/walmart"  It does show what stores had 22lr.   I eventually was able to find a deal on the Internet and with shipping was still under $.10 per round.  I have started seeing even this deal's 22lr ammo on Gunbroker for about double what I paid for it.  Ouch!  Gougers should be flogged on site.  The other 22lr ammo on that site has gone from guys offering 1 each 500 round brick for lots more than I will pay plus shipping, to 3 and 4 bricks of the ammo from Walmart mostly at prices that I will not pay!  Good luck to the normal guy that has a life, work schedule, and family trying to just get enough to teach his kids about shooting.   22lr may be a lost cause....
  10. Here is a link to a site that provides me with a great service anytime I need ammo:   http://www.gunbot.net/ammo/rifle/762x39/   Just set it to "View in-stock only", and sort by price per round.  You have to go to each site to check shipping, but that is the only pain to getting it all at your door step!
  11. You really have to think about how many rounds you want to shoot regularly to stay proficient with each weapon, how many calibers can you maintain, then about storage.  I personally keep no less than 500 rounds per handgun caliber that I use and replenish as needed, and about 1000 to 1500 per rifle caliber.  Unless you have a good dry, cool storage area to keep the ammo---especially the steel cased ammo, then it does rust after a while.  You also should always use your oldest ammo first for target shooting to ensure that the ammo will go "bang" when and if the SHTF!    Zombies?  Really?  Economic collapse, anarchy, rape, pillage, and plunder---Probably!  By the way, if the SHTF, our economy goes to the toilet, and anarchy is the norm in the streets, then you can bet that the FedEx and UPS folks aren't going to be delivering any more of that cheap ammo to your door!  Keep enough to survive a month or two with good friends that will assist you in protecting, sheltering, and feeding your family.  Just how long do you think you can survive against gangs of folks that want what you have all by your lonesome?   God, Family, Country!  When all else fails, try your best to preserve Family---God is always going to be with you!
  12. Great answers!  As you can see from the links given previously, AK-47's and the 7.62x39 bullets are no longer really all that cheap.  This President and his Administration / Regime have really put a hurting on the guns and ammo markets.  The reason I gave you the links to check out were to dispel the idea of a $299.00 AK-47!  Even the guys on this Website are not going to sell theirs so generously---Unless they know you, and you are a close blood relative.   I really think there is only one or two more questions to ask:  1.  Are you married?  2.  If so, what can you get away with spending, or better yet: do you have a Guns & Ammo Fund already built up to spend?   I'm really only kidding around, and do not want to offend anyone here.  Please do the research to include the gun, ammo, and the magazines.  As I stated before, I choose to go out and shoot when I really don't care about how much I'm spending every time I pull the trigger.  I personally like the AK for it's ease of cleaning, shooting, and protection it provides for my family.  Have a wonderful New Year, and hope this all helps you to find that AK that you too always wanted!  I waited 20 years to get mine!!!
  13. I have a WASR-10 which has been a blast to shoot for the last few years.  I've put Wolf, Brown Bear, Silver Bear, etc... through it without any problems.  I keep it clean and it shoots very well!  It shoots 100 plus rounds into a 7 inch circle at 100 yards consistently.  Good enough for where I live!  The real questions to ask yourself are: 1.  What do you plan to use it for?  2.  How often are you going to go out and shoot it?  3.  How much do you want to spend?  You will get what you pay for!   A good starting point for the above questions is at or http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/ProductListing.aspx?catid=7795 to see what the Retail Sales are for the many different AK-47 type rifles.  Then open up http://www.gunauction.com/shop/rifles-for-sale/semi-auto-rifle and/or http://www.gunbroker.com/Semi-Auto-Rifles/BI.aspx?Keywords=AK-47 and start to get the picture of how much they are on the Auction Sites.   I shoot a couple hundred rounds at 100 yard ranges a couple times a year now that I have a decent scope and the right bullets to hunt coyote with!  I also have a VEPR in 7.62x54 which is really a nice weapon---Much more expensive than an AK-47 up front.  Lately, the bullets are a little cheaper to shoot that the 7.62x39, but I have to deal with 5 and 10 round clips too.  I use all my guns for home defense, hunting various game animals, and for fun when I don't care about money!  Good luck!
  14. Just fired mine Saturday which had been loaded for hunting last year. Two caps, but it fired and now for the cleaning I should have done last year!
  15. Not only can a third party win, but it is time the Tea Party was formed into a real political machine from the grass roots! The Tea Party not only represents the most valued American ideas, but it also holds that our Constitution is still the law of our land. I'm sure if they were to put up a serious contender, or at least start being more active in the Primaries, then we would again have a voice in our Government that we could trust! We the people need to vote our conscience rather than for the party that our families have for years. I have contacted my Congressional and Senate Representatives numerous times only to have them constantly vote against my conservative concerns. It is far past time to cut spending, get the illegal aliens out of our country, stop abusing the powers listed and not listed in the Constitution, limit the terms that they can hold office to no more than 2, and have some way to stop the Judges at all levels from legislating from the benches! Would it be better for the Tea Party to consolidate and put up a candidate for the races, or just continue to sit back and be an influence that is made into a daily joke by both big parties? Does it really take having another civil conflict to get changes that are needed, or is there a leader out there that can make the decisions---especially the tough ones to get those changes in place?
  16. Got the 7.62x54r with 20" integrated sights and barrel from Center Fire Systems. Changed out the very ugly wood, put on an AK ATI 6 position stock with recoil pad, new aluminum forearm, and nice UTG side mount with Nikon scope. Oh do I absolutely like this weapon! $0.22 per round averaged between some surplus 147g FMJ and 203g SP bullets for hunting! I had fun building / upgrading it, and all my friends want to shoot it. Just saying...
  17. Most shots that you will get up there are about 100 yards or less.  The longest I've taken there is about 75 yards.  Mostly dense foliage and you may end up on fire cuts which are the only open shots in some of those areas.  Good luck!
  18. Unfortunately the Cheatham WMA has grown up so much that you really need a truck to go down any of the gravel and dirt roads. The money from the State to maintain those WMA's has been cut so much and used for other things. Otherwise, I have hunted Cheatham for about 15 years off and on with only taking a single 4 point buck. Hard to get enough hunters in, and hard to get any movement of the deer to have much luck. I will have to hunt this area again this year due to the same problem of no private land to hunt.
  19. I had Geico for about 12 years, changed to Progressive for a year, then on to Nationwide for the last year or so. Never hurts to save any money as long as the coverages are the same or better. My Nationwide Agent just moved on to another company and advised me to shop around! Go for it...
  20. Fixed the link in my prior post.  There are lots of places selling cheap ammo, but watch out for gouging on shipping.  You have been warned!!!   http://www.gunbot.net/ammo
  21. Some of you guys should really start looking at the Internet more often.  I have bought a lot of ammo lately for not much more than I did a couple years ago!   Take a look at:  http://www.gunbot.net/ammo   and start saving, but paying a little for shipping.  .223 is about $0.40 per round, but I will agree that .22 LR is not something you want to purchase with shipping fees too!   Edited the link!  A sentence tied together before.
  22. Thanks!  That fixed it.  Once again a Premium Member!   David,   I do appreciate this site and how you are helping a lot of people by keeping it up and running.  Our 2nd Amendment rights, and the ability to buy and sale guns is very important to me and many other that use this site.   This was more my problem remembering your name, which I will pay more attention to going forward.  I apologize for creating this pain for you.   The Other David!
  23. I had a Premium Membership which I thought would expire after one year.  Paypal sent me a notice stating a $35.00 subscription had been renewed back in May 2013.  I had no clue as to why, and had Paypal investigate and refund the charge.  IF the charge had been to TGO and not to David as an individual versus a business that I recognized, this would not have been an issue nor would my membership have been canceled.   I am now currently trying to purchase a new Premium Membership, but keep getting the following error:   "Oops! Something went wrong! This invoice contains items you have already purchased which cannot be purchased again. Please contact an administrator for assistance.  [#20X111-C]"   All I want is to purchase the membership, and be given a choice as to whether to renew it in a year, not have it auto-renew and me have to remember David's name.   Please help!
  24. Have you tried looking on http://www.gunbot.net/ammo, http://gun-deals.com/ammo, http://www.slickguns.com/category/ammo or just going to http://www.gunbroker.com/ or http://www.gunauction.com/ to check out the auctions?  I saw some OK deals in the auctions if I was hurting for some ammo.  I keep the calculator up and do the math.  Good luck!
  25. I have both, and have found that the Mini is by far the best at shooting anything it is fed!  Since you are not looking at having to shoot a lot, very far, and will only be shooting a few rounds, and not hunting, the Mini is cheaper, very reliable, and the mags are not that expensive.  Ruger has really good videos to help with field stripping for cleaning and it doesn't require a lot of TLC.  The AR is superior for long range, high capacity, high round counts, and that everywhere you look there might be one should SHTF!  I wouldn't use that SHTF as the main criteria for the purchase.  All AR's have lots of parts to clean, and they are really easy to loose if you are not cleaning them on a workbench or table.  The Mini will not fail you for the price!
