  1. I have a Hatsan AT44S Long QE 9 Shot – .25 Cal that I can hit a 50 cent piece with at 35 yards! It should to be able to kill Coyotes, Rabbits, Racoon, etc. There are numerous YouTube videos of others hunting with them. The external air tank at 4500psi was expensive, but a must if you plan to use the gun to hunt. You get about 18 shots before you really need to recharge the tank on the gun. "https://www.airgunproshop.com/shop/refurbished-hatsan-at44s-long-qe-9-shot-25-cal/" Here's a link to a site if you want one too!
  2. Voted Saturday! I was in and out in 10 minutes or so. No long lines, but the office was busy with all the machines being utilized. Good to see others getting out to vote instead of sitting back and waiting for everyone else to decide what the direction of this country will go. Whether it's standing in the long lines on the 8th, mail in ballots, or early voting, it's better than being too lazy to spend the 10 minutes it takes to cast your vote!
  3. I too grew up hunting small game ( squirrels, rabbits, and groundhogs ) just to have a little meat on the table, as Dad always put it! Now I hardly ever get a chance, and most of the younger folks see it as just a bunch of nasty animals or rats with long tails. What they don't know is that they are delicious and great for building a social bond with the old man! When will they learn to skin and eat something without going to Walmart for those microwave packaged bits of "almost" chicken?
  4. OK, I just can't see letting the "parasites (government workers)" go.  I have known many of the folks that the Department Of Safety / Homeland Security that do "work" in the Handgun Permit Section, and those are some of the lowest paid government workers you will ever meet.   Otherwise, I'm all in for Constitutional Carry!  Why on earth do we have to pay for a right provided by our State's and the Federal Government's Constitutions?  Do you have to go through formal training to speak freely, choose or participate in a religion or religious activity?  The 1st and 2nd Amendments are necessary for freedom, pursuit of happiness, and our overall citizen's protection from a tyrannical government.  Do we really want King Obama, or Queen Hillary to control our very existence?  Anyone for a bottle of vodka and a small loaf of wheat bread for our daily portion?   We need to have a voter's cleansing in our State government, and a total reset in our Federal government.  Vote for the one's you know will stay true to principals you hold to be true and just, not the one's that keep doing everything to make their own families rich!  The safest job in the State is being an incumbent that is up for re-election.  With the current clowns in office, Constitutional Carry has no chance of ever being passed.  Off the wall question:  Could we the voters ever get a chance to vote for Constitutional Carry during a normal election?
  5. When I think of all the years I served this country, have paid my taxes every year, work a full time job since graduating High School, and try to explain to my kids (All of which are now young adults) that this is the greatest nation and one of the best states to live in, I just can't get over feeling like a second rate citizen when I look at maps like the one in this link: "http://www.opencarry.org/maps/map-open-carry-of-a-properly-holstered-loaded-handgun/"   Just the other day I asked a very stubborn permit carrying individual the one question he had no answer for:  At the point in time when your permit expires, and you haven't got the money to pay for that renewal to your Constitutional right, do you think you're any less of a citizen of this country now that you can't legally carry your firearm outside of your own house? Yesterday you could, but today you can't!  Paying anything for your 2nd Amendment rights is just wrong.   Today it is our right to have and bear arms, tomorrow it may be that you can't speak your mind.  In fact, it is almost a hate crime already to say I'm a Christian and believe the Bible should dictate my behavior, morals, and ethics.   Every state that borders Tennessee except Georgia is an open carry state!  Even West Virginia gets it right on Constitutional Carry!
  6. Here's a full write up on this: "http://newsletters.getresponse.com/archive/tfa/TN-Constitutional-Carry-Update-Voters-disenfranchised-229675501.html?e=&u=izZc"   So much for a Republican controlled State!  Wonder if it will be any better if there is a Republican controlled Federal government?  Maybe it's time for some "Change" we can count on!
  7. 2013 VW Passat TDI deisel!  45 to 50 mpg on the HWY, 30 in the cities just driving around.  Love to drive it as it is very comfortable.  I average about 636 miles per tank with combined driving HWY and City.
  8. I use "http://www.gunbot.net/ammo" as a starting point to get a feel for average prices, and if the shipping is right I buy from the cheapest retailer.  Otherwise, I use "http://www.targetsportsusa.com/" "http://www.ableammo.com/" "http://www.sgammo.com/" "http://www.ammoman.com/" etc.  I will caution that shipping costs vary big time, and that determines the better deal when I average that into the costs per round. As far as security and buying online vs the local Walmart or local gun shop, I haven't had any problems at all from online sales.  I like getting home from work and the box waiting for me at the front door!
  9. Here is a quote form an email that I got from the NRA-ILA Friday:   "On Tuesday, March 8, the Senate Judiciary Committee is scheduled to hear Senate Bill 1483, sponsored by state Senate Senator Mark Green (R-22). On Wednesday, March 9, the House Civil Justice Subcommittee is scheduled to hear SB 1483’s companion bill, House Bill 1748, sponsored by state Representative Judd Matheny (R-47). SB 1483 /HB 1748 would allow anyone who is 21 years of age or older who is not prohibited by law from possessing a handgun, to carry a handgun without a permit.  This important legislation would allow law-abiding gun owners the ability to better protect themselves and their loved ones, and to choose the best method of carrying for them, based on their attire, gender and/or physical attributes."   It's time to put a full court press on the Legislature to get our 2nd Amendment rights fixed here in this state too!  I've already put it to my Senator and House Rep.  Have at folks!
  10. Glad to hear that you guys haven't had the problems we have with the coyotes, but on the 147 acres that three guys are hunting on over the last 10 years we have saw a major drop in Deer (Used to be able to kill about 3 each per year without hurting the population---now you are lucky to see a single buck or doe for an entire season), Wild Turkey (Used to be three flocks of 15-40 birds constantly moving around the farm and surrounding farms---I saw a single flock this last year with about 15 birds total, and no one killed a gobbler this year.  There hasn't been any changes in the property by humans for the entire 10 years other than cutting the hay.   What I have killed is two very large coy-dogs and another coyote this last year, and another guy shot at a bob cat that was traveling with a squirrel in it's mouth!  He missed.  I've been barked at numerous times moving towards my deer stands for the last few years, but the other guys fail to see why they should shoot a coyote while sitting in the deer stand hunting deer!  They may never "get" it, but I see the real issue on the property we hunt.  I'd be out there very often if night time hunting were legal in this state.
  11. Every year the TWRA asks for suggestions to current and future regulations.  I have written many times about just this very subject since retiring from the USARMY in 1998.  The TWRA will never evolve, but eventually the current leadership might just make it's influence a non-issue through retirement.  Common sense is lacking at all levels in the TWRA structure of leadership!   A clincher statement from one of my suggestions was something like this:  What Hillbilly, Redneck, or otherwise low life "coyote" hunter would ever want to face society, or his wife / spouse, after getting caught poaching deer with a $1000 rifle, $500 - $3000+ night vision scope, 24-48 hours in jail, and his / her vehicle and weapons confiscated too?   Either the TWRA just does not care, or they are too stupid to react to a species that is wearing out the Wild Turkeys, Deer, and anything else that isn't able to fight back, climb a tree, or hide from coyotes!
  12. Amazon has a scope that I bought and currently use, but it is the most expensive that I use on 22-25 Cal weapons: 4-16x50mm Scope W front AO adjustment. Red/green Illumination mil-dot reticle. Comes with extended sunshade and Heavy Duty Ring Mount "http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005ICG6IK?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=od_aui_detailpages00"   CDNN Sports has this one that is currently on a .223:   AIM SPORTS 3-9X40 TITAN DUAL ILLUMINATED SCOPE   "http://www.cdnnsports.com/aim-sports-3-9x40-titan-dual-illuminated-scope.html"   Amazon has the scope I have on my Ruger 10/22: BSA 6-18X40AO Sweet 22 Rifle Scope with Adjustable Objective "http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002A12VLI?keywords=bsa%20sweet%2022%20scope&qid=1456090177&ref_=sr_1_2&sr=8-2"
  13. I purchase one from these guys a couple years ago, but they were fast and exactly what I was in need of for the project I was working on!   "http://www.cncwarrior.com/Muzzle-Devices-s/1822.htm"
  14. I don't care about what the polls are saying at this point in choosing a candidate to beat any of the Dems.  I vote in the primary for the person that I align with in morals, positions dealing with today's social issues, and whether or not they can tell the truth form a lie---And most importantly, whether they have the nads to stand their ground when they know they are right!   I care about immigration as there has been a lot of talk about walls, paths to citizenship, fines, legalizing, etc.  What I haven't heard is why don't they increase the punishment for citizens that hire illegals for work, and pay them under the table?  Enforce the laws, and the illegals will leave our country on their own when they can't find a source of income.   I wish folks could see the actions of the candidates, rather than the speaking points to get votes when it comes to being and acting like a Christian!  Trump won't close his eyes and bow his head for a moment of silence, nor can he read a passage of scripture correctly!  He may not be what he claims, and his actions show a really childish and angry little man on stage.   I will vote this weekend, or on the big day!  One of my last few rights (privileges) as a citizen!
  15. 20 GA break-down with a hammer!  I had a 16 GA and my brother got a 20 GA when we were 12 and 11 respectfully.  Both of us used them until we were into our twenties for almost everything!  You can't miss with a good 20 GA for your son---Or daughters which was my gift to my daughter when she was 12!
  16. Ruger New Model Blackhawk convertible in .357 MAG / .38 Spec / 9 MM revolver.  Not as accurate when using the 9 MM cylinder, but gives a lot of choices in ammo for uses from hunting to home defense.  I've had one for all the above since 1986, and I'm certain my boys are all playing Rocks-Paper-Scissors to see who will get it!
  17. This link will at least verify that she was in the service on active status, but you need to find out her birthdate or SSN:   https://www.dmdc.osd.mil/appj/scra/single_record.xhtml
  18. Mike.357, the fact that we are even mentioning thoughts about guns in this thread is wrong!  There isn't a Amendment to be voted on this election cycle that even gets close to guns.  It is my opinion only, and a response to the extremes being used to make conversations about the Amend 1 on the ballots this year.  Now what really makes me wonder is why you would question that opinion?  Maybe it would be better answered or followed in a new thread after the elections!  Whether the US Constitution gives or recognizes that the citizens of this country have the right to bear arms has no bearing on the decision of a woman to end the life of a baby in the womb.   You know, one of the reasons many folks that used to be on this forum have moved on to better things is that there are folks making light of every remark made just to hear themselves write / talk!  I thought I had something intelligent to write to help some of the normal folks understand what is at hand during this election.  I'll think elsewhere in the future.  Sorry to vent, but if you guys cared about what is happening to our country you'd be better off keeping your snide criticism to yourselves!  Thanks to some of you guys that have done business with me in the past.  God bless --- if you believe He is, and He is rewarder of those that diligently seek Him!
  19. Guns when we are talking abortions?  Really!  If you want to know what I really believe about abortions in general, here you go:   There are decisions folks make everyday of their lives that they have to pay for financially, emotionally, and spiritually if you adhere to God's way of living your life.  Abortion should not be a form of birth control either!  The decision to have sex or not to have sex was the point at which the woman's right to control her body ended, and the right of the unborn baby that gets conceived started.  In the case of rape, that individual should be given the opportunity to let the baby be adopted instead of two wrongs trying to make a right.  The baby should be protected also if you happen to believe that the Bible is truly God's word.  Psalms 139: 13-16 describe when we were counted as being an individual in God's eyes.  Proverbs 6: 16-19 tells me that certain things that we are all capable of doing make God sick to his stomach to the point of vomiting.  Everyone will be judged for the decisions we make here in this life by the very words of the One that created life.  I will answer for what I have done, as will everyone else whether we want to or not---Jesus is the Judge!   Guns:  I say the U.S. Constitution gives every law abiding citizen the right to carry whatever gun they want, when they want, where ever they want.  No permit needed.
  20. From the Article: "In a dissent, Judge Emilio M. Garza agreed with Mississippi’s arguments, saying that the law was a reasonable effort to regulate and add safeguards to abortions. Disputing the central premise of the opinion, he wrote that “no state is obligated to provide or guarantee the provision of abortion services within its borders.”   There are numerous reasons to control / restrict / or help these young women make a better decision when dealing with the life of the baby inside their bodies.  However, in the above dissent the Judge is echoing my concern from an earlier post about forcing States to start paying for all abortions with tax payers money.
  21. Guys I'm hesitant to even try, but here I am trying to see why you both think that the most extreme is what will happen or be the "will of the people".  As stated above in these posts, we are not voting for or against abortion.  That has been settled by Roe Vs Wade back in the 70's by the Supreme Court Of the United States.  Our TN Constitution had prohibited abortions in our state prior to that decision for the entire country.   What this Amendment does is let our State Legislature have the State Constitutional authority to place common sense restrictions or procedures to have abortions in our state.  We the voting Tennesseans are still going to be able to have our voices heard through the representative type of government we have here in TN (We are a Republic).   There might be things like a waiting period of 24 or 48 hours, clinics that are inspected and licensed, a sonogram, possibly require the women to be residents of this state, and maybe even require parental consent for minors.  However, there is probably no way that your extreme cases of rape, incest, life of the mother, etc... are ever going to make it through our Legislature and be signed into law by an elected Governor!  TV commercials are working really well at scaring people into the wrong conclusions!
  22. One more point about Amend 1 and voting or not voting.  If 50% + 1 vote of the Governor's election total votes is not reached by this amendment, then it fails.  Anyone that does not vote is automatically counted as a "No" vote.  Finding reasons not to vote, or just not marking the vote one way or the other is still a "No" vote.  You don't have to vote for the Governor to still vote for this amendment, or anything else on the ballot.  You have a choice.
  23. Amend 1:  As for how the lawyer folks described it to me the other day:  The TN Constitution at one time banned abortions period.  The Roe Vs Wade US Supreme Court decision struck all the bans down for everyone in the nation.  This gave the ability for folks to get one anywhere.  The Legislature has passed restrictions in the past to have a delay or wait time and to make the doctors tell these young women the pros and cons of their possible decision to get or not to get an abortion.  Up unto now the TN Supreme Court has struck down those restrictions with legal wording that is pointing in the direction of it being a legal right to have an abortion.  This is the sticker!  If it is a right, rather than a choice, the State may well have to start paying for them with our hard earned tax dollars---Like Minnesota:  "http://www.lifenews.com/2014/05/05/minnesota-court-forces-taxpayers-to-keep-funding-abortions/"   At least with a Yes vote the Legislature could impose some restrictions.  Until Roe Vs Wade is overturned there will always be the ability to get an abortion anywhere in the U.S.  Do you really like the facts that so many women come to TN to get one?  No restrictions, on-demand, cash in hand, no licensing and checking to see if the facilities are sterile?  Somehow this needs to be fixed.  Amend 1 is a starting point!  Don't be fulled by Planned Parenthood commercials.  Whether you believe or not, God will judge each individual for what we do here.
  24. Amend #4.  Wow, never thought my Christian convictions concerning wine in the Bible would be offensive to anyone!  However, I will give you a link and let you know that the Dec 4th, 11th, 18th, and Jan 8th messages in audio are very much the way that I see things now in my life.  This has not always been so, but every mistake, bad "???" I have had in my life has had a bottle or glass of alcohol associated with it! Please feel free to listen, as it will not cost you anything but your time to get a very good idea as to "What the Bible says about drinking." "http://www.southhavenbaptist.org/shbc/sermon_media?currpage=5&sa_action=" Again, I will be voting for anyone that wants to purchase wine, etc... from the local grocery store to do so.  I am not your conscience, but let God guide you and you might see things differently.    I think my belief deals more with fermentation always being used to identify sin too.
  25. Amend 2:  Would it not be a little better to have Judges have to be approved by the full State Senate and House no matter how they get nominated or picked by the Governor?  The August Primary is the real answer to the "Let the citizens vote for each Judge."  Look at the opportunity missed to rid this State of some very liberal judges, but each one was retained by the voters!  We Tennesseans do not like to vote against an Incumbent.  Even when we know they are not the best choice, nor reflect conservative values at all.  At least a vote for #2 would make some group have to look more closely and possibly make a better choice than that of the Too-Scared-To-Change Tennessee Voter!    By the way, I did vote but lost on many of my decisions during the Primary this year.  I hold myself accountable to my own beliefs and vote my conscience even when it is unpopular!  I can apply the same above recognition to a State Senator, etc...  Whether you vote for a Democrat or a RINO, you still get all those wonderful liberal choices that apply to all of us conservatives that like to complain!  I have reason...   #1---Yes, #2---Yes, #3---Yes, #4---Yes.  Abortion is Murder; Judges need accountability not votes; Read our Lips; and Alcohol is a no no for Christians (Read the Bible and check the meaning of words in context.), but I won't limit it's sale for anyone who does drink!
