I am former military but I was not at the time of the accident in Afghanistan. Yes, I am a long time VA member.

I have shot M60's to a point where the rifling was gone. I was at the range once in August burning ammunition and we were pouring oil on the barrels to keep them cool. Eventually all the M60's we had broke and we buried about 70K rounds in the New Mexico sand.

The reliabolt is a POS. They break regularly with use.

So as most of you know I was in a helicopter accident in 2008. And since the accident my memory has been exactly crap. I basically forget the last 10 minutes or if I am aggravated or distracted I forget everything within the last minute or two. And up to this point my wife has always thought the memory issues were related to the medications I take daily and I agreed with her. Well a few months back I was talking to my "back" doctor about the memory issues and if we could change medications. He said the medication I am on should not affect my memory and if it did it would only be for a short time when I started taking them. He said by now you should be used to the medications and the memory should be fine. I told him it wasn't. Then he suggested it might be a TBI and asked if I was knocked out in the accident, I wasn't. Then he asked if I had bumped my head during the accident and I told him I honestly I do not know but it was a very violent crash so it is very possible. He wanted to have me evaluated for a TBI but I told him to wait on it for now. I asked him if anything can be done and he said it was likely as good as it is going to get. He said even though I was not knocked out I could have a TBI like football players and boxers get. He did say the memory issue, and how I forget, is indicative of a TBI. Question I have is who else has a TBI and what testing did they do to determine that? I was supposed to get my memory evaluated a few years ago but it also fell through the insurance cracks.

I don't mind a direct thread mount and I do swap it around. -
http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/58575-an-interesting-night-we-had-last-night/ The officers that responded to my house after an incident there did not do a very good pat down either. One day one of these officers are going to pay with their life and it is sad because it doesn't take but a couple of minutes to do a very thorough pat down.

Officer shot himself--and the gun store gets sued......
Dolomite_supafly replied to Parrothead's topic in General Chat
You can see the officer rack the gun right before pulling the trigger. The bystanders are very lucky because he gun was pointed in their direction when the trigger was pulled. Not sure why there were rounds in the gun but the officer should have cleared the gun too. -

I am looking for another project. I am thinking some sort of 38/357 rifle that is integrally suppressed or at least threaded for a suppressor. I am going to be building another 22 can real soon and when I do I am going to buy this end cap just to be cool. http://www.griffinarmament.com/Checkmate-QD-upgrade-Kit-p/gacmqdk.htm It would be easier to buy at $70 than to build it. Or if I do a 9mm can I will use their 3 lug for it as well. http://www.griffinarmament.com/Revolution-9mm-3-lug-coupler-assembly-p/ga9qdk.htm -
GunGlow 2-part sight paint comments?

You could drill using a 1mm drill bit then use some 5 minute clear epoxy to install it. -

You can also get tritium vials for front sights for under $10 shipped. They are .95mm wide by 3mm long and should be easy to install. -
I have seen Lake City brass without flash holes so it isn't just Wolf. And cost doesn't even guarantee quality ammunition. I have some Hornady cases with the flash holes touching the side of the primer pocket because they are so far off center. I have used thousands of Tula primers and never had an issue with hang or delayed fires. I use them in EVERYTHING, not just rifle calibers. I use them in 9mm, 45 ACP, 300 Blackout and I have even used them in 38 Special. And they are the best primer I can buy. No other primer gives me the consistency that the Tula primers do. I get single digit SD numbers consistently regardless of powder used when I am using Tula. CCI, specifically #41, are probably some of the worst out there. I will say that Remington consistently produces crap. Their 22 ammunition has been crap for DECADES as has most of their other ammunition.

Yeah, the more I looked into it the more I realized he was probably joking. If I were to get any engraver it would be a pneumatic one that Long Range Precision uses. It has such a fine dpi rate that you cannot tell it is engraved like a dot matrix printer. It also does very well on rounded surfaces like tubes. He does 1" tubes and they look great. You can also control the depth with air pressure so there is no need to make multiple passes. And because the parts are held in place for like 15 seconds they can be held in place by hand and do not require fixtures. My titanium tube is engraved to ~.012-~.015" deep and looks great. My lower is not as deep but looks great other than the anodizing getting chipped out but that is not his, or the engraver's, fault. He said it cost him $10K but I bet you can find useable ones for cheaper.

Just use the stuff I linked. I have used it on a lot of pistols and it works great. Make sure to use CLEAR two part epoxy that sets in like 5 minutes. One minute epoxy sets to quickly and one hour just takes too long. -
Two years ago I was forced to give up driving. I had actually quit driving before that but two years ago during a deposition regarding my injuries my doctor put it on record that I am never to drive again. It is one of the hardest things I have had to give up. I was a car guy all my life and then having that removed from my life was devastating. And it is very demeaning getting a ride anywhere and I hate the fact my wife has to drive all the time.

I hope your get all this sorted out, and soon. I am worried for you and hope you are able to find a doctor that is actually worth a damn. You definitely need to see a different doctor and not dwell on what happened today. It is obvious he is unprofessional and because of that I would not worry too much about anything he said either. My offer still stands in our PM to each other. If you need to talk call anytime, I don't care what time it is if you really need someone to talk to. I know what it is like to have what feels like the weight of the world on your shoulders.

I was watching a video and he said he can still use the rings from RCBS, Lee and a few others. Even shows him using them on his coax press. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=NEzVZe7f6G0 At 5:30 he talks about the rings.

If he is receiving social security disability for a mental issue he cannot purchase a firearm from a dealer. Now whether I agree with that or not is another story but that is what the law states. That is why I always caution veterans against the free PTSD money unless they do have PTSD. If they are receiving compensation for PTSD it would not be a stretch at all for some bureaucrat to say they are mentally ill AND receiving compensation for that mental defect. There is a lot of movement right now to strip veterans of their right to own firearms because the government see patriots and heroes as a threat to their crooked existence. It is sad that just one generation ago veterans were praised and honored by our government but now we are labeled as homegrown terrorists if we talk about the Constitution.

The speed of sound changes with temperature as well as elevation. I have ammunition that I loaded in the summer that was subsonic. That same ammunition during the winter has a supersonic crack because of the cooler temperatures. I have started loading my ammunition to below 1,000 fps to make sure it will remain subsonic in the colder weather and even then some that are at 1,000 fps might crack from time to time depending on how cold it actually is. The speed of sound you listed is at sea level and 68 degrees. But when the temperature is 25 degrees the speed of sound is 1,079 fps. And at our elevation, ~1,000 feet, you can deduct another ~ 25 fps from that number. This is also why things seem to sound louder in the winter. Sound travels so much better in the winter. A lot of people cannot differentiate the difference between the sonic crack and the gun shot. Even suppressed a 223 seems really loud but a lot of it is because the sonic crack is bouncing back at you. It take 15-20 feet for the sonic crack to grow enough to be noticeable. This is why suppressors help those who are cleaning buildings. The bullets never go more than 15-20 feet so the sonic crack never develops. If you really want to hear how quiet your suppressor is shoot into a tree from ~10 feet. It will be loud but no where near as loud as the sonic crack of the bullet. And sonic cracks are the same regardless of the caliber. A supersonic 22 is going to have a sonic crack as loud as a supersonic 223. Now the 223 might sound louder but that is because it spends more time above the speed of sound. And there is an advantage to using a suppressor against live targets, especially with supersonic ammunition. If something is facing you, you fire and miss the target thinks the gunshot comes from the direction of the sonic crack. That is if a supersonic bullet passed by the right ear, even if they are facing the shooter, the crack sounds like it comes from the right because that is where the bullet passed. Or if a target is facing 90 degrees away and you fire in front of them the sonic crack will sound like it is right in front of them. I did not believe this until I tested it. No I did not have anyone shoot at me nor did I shoot at anyone else. My wife boards her horse and horses will generally run towards a gun shot to see what it is. So I shot a suppressed gun past them and they ran towards the bullet path rather than towards me. Subsonic is great but you can still hear where the shot came from within a certain distance (depending on caliber). With supersonic ammunition the sonic crack will likely mask the noise a suppressed gun makes when firing supersonic ammunition. I bought a CMMG 16" barrel and initially chopped it to 10". I then welded a tube onto the barrel to bring it to 16"+. My suppressor slid down inside the tube and threaded onto the barrel. After my SBR paperwork came back I cut it to 4.25" and then screwed up the thread job so I cut it back again in order to thread it correctly. It is a dedicated 22lr gun so I do not mind altering some stuff if need be. I do plan on putting a folding stock on it at some point. ALL ammunition will remain subsonic out of a 3.5" barrel. Even Stingers will remain subsonic. Stingers need barrel length to get to the velocity they claim and out of short barrels it will never get above the speed of sound. I chronographed them out of a 4.5" barrel and they would hover around 1,000 fps. But yeah, the 3.5" barrel will keep everything subsonic. I shoot a bunch of bulk pack and they are great out of that setup. And with my 30 caliber suppressor, rather than my 22 suppressor, all you hear is the action cycling and the hammer striking. -
Not if it is preban. Seriously this is insane that we have come to this. What is even more finny is they will not allow the kids to maintain control over cans of food. Those that made this decision probably liken the lethality of a can of food to an automatic weapon. Don't want kids walking around the halls with something so deadly. I bet they put the cans of food under lock and key so only responsible adults can have control over such a dangerous weapon.

Have you actually used the program?

The Veteran's Access Care Act does work. I have used it even though I am within 40 miles of a facility and I seen my doctor two weeks ago I am still eligible. If you cannot be seen by the VA within 30 days for ANYTHING you can go on the economy. I am doing it as we speak. I was scheduled for a ENT doctor but the appointment was not until March so I got a call from the VA, I did not call, and was told I could go to a local doctor. I needed to call the Tricare west number to get approval. The phone didn't ring three times before they answered. So it works but you must make a few phone calls. Personally the VA system has been better to me than any civilian insurance I have ever had.

And $100 for a quality trigger isn't a bad price at all regardless of the platform. I really wish I could get into bullpups. -
So cute.

I actually had someone recommend a $500 laser engraver for engraving weapons. I will do a lot more research before buying it but I think it would be a nice to have because setup and use is so much easier with a laser engraver.
