  1. I am getting one for $269 + tax but I can't say from where. Yes it is perfectly legal what I am doing but I am unsure if I am getting "special" pricing. Should be in my hand for under $335.   Thanks guys.
  2. It is amazing at how many are for sale on ARFCOM.
  3. Glad to hear I helped someone learn something. That is always my goal, learning something new as well as helping others do the same.
  4.   The ONLY thing that needs to be engraved beyond the original manufacturer's markings is the name, or entity, that is making the SBR as well as their city and state.   If the NFA items was approved for an individual it needs to be engraved with: John Doe Anywhere, TN   If it was approved by a trust then it needs to be engraved with: The Doe Trust Anywhere, TN The trust name must be exactly like it appears on the trust document. It cannot be abbreviated at all. I know some think that "TDT Anywhere, TN" is acceptable but it is not. That is why it is important to try to keep it as short as possible because if you have a trust will a really long name it might not fit on the lower.   And yes the person, or entity, that was approved is the maker of the SBR so that is why there is a need for an additional engraving. The original manufacturer is not the maker of the SBR so their markings only cover the manufacture of a title I firearm.   You do NOT have to have "Short barrel rifle" or "SBR" engraved on the lower at all. I am not sure where this came from but I have met a few engravers who seem to think it is required but it is not.
  5. They could also opine that a "pistol" may not contact anything other than the hand(s) while firing after all that is how the definition reads. Imagine the stir up that would cause if you could no longer shoulder a bare buffer tube and that you MUST shoot it using a SINGLE hand as the definition states.   Wonder what the odds are that the first person who gets caught is from a state that has the Freedom Firearms Act in place. And if so I wonder if the state would defend the person from the feds. I doubt it as most states passed it as nothing more than a way to get votes.       If they wanted more revenue all they would have to do is figure out a way to do quicker approvals. I have talked to a lot of people about NFA stuff and the vast majority do not get into it because of the wait times, not cost. Most people, including me, hate tying up cash for the amount of time it takes to get approved. Even the month it takes to get an eFile approved is way too long. If nothing else do a frequent flyer program that after your initial wait you are issued a unique ID number that allows you to do an instant purchase with only an instant NICS background. The NFA program could easily make a profit for the government if run correctly. I mean the system hasn't really changed since its inception in 1934. You still fill out some paperwork, pay $200 and wait for the approval .   Personally the NFA, in its entirety, should be done away with. All you should have to do is the same background check you do right now then walk out with your SBR, SBS, silencer, AOW or machine gun. If something needs to be regulated then regulate the person and not the item. If it were MY country anyone can own anything and the ONLY people who would be "regulated" are those who have proven to be violent. I don't care if you are a felon 100X over, if the crimes are not violent in nature you should be allowed to own anything you want but if you have a violent misdemeanor you loose your immediate right to own a firearm. But even if you have lost your right to own a firearm you have a means to restore those rights. It will not be easy or quick but it will be possible.
  6. And where exactly does the shoulder start? I shoulder my guns over the meaty part of my chest about where my nipple is. Shouldering it over a bone gets painful pretty quick.
  7. If they are going to say use determines status then I will drop some full auto parts in my guns, so long as I only fire in semi auto I should be fine right?   I really wish Tennessee would pass a rifle carry bill but if they do we will get overrun by Carry Tennessee buffoons like Texas. I have been sending emails to representatives asking for legal rifle carry for HCP holders.
  8. The best overall 22 ammunition is the Velocitor ammunition from CCI. It works well with shorter barrels as well as the longer barrels but the best part is it tends to be very accurate. CCI Stinger, Winchester Xpediter and the Aguila SuperMax all need barrel length to reach their velocity. And in a lot of cases the bullet is going so fast the recoil impulse is not long enough to cycle semi auto rifles. I know in my 22 AR as well as my 10/22 CCI Stingers and Aguila SuperMax will not cycle. And I have yet to find a hyper velocity round that is what I would call reasonably accurate.   The problem with the hypervelocity ammunition's accuracy is not the ammunition but the twist rate. Because the hypervelocity rounds use bullets that are identical to 22 short bullets the twist needs to be slower. Green Mountain makes a "Stinger" barrel and I have read it is extremely accurate with hypervelocity rounds but not many others. The Stinger barrel uses a 18 twist barrel, the same as most 22 short guns for 100 years ago. The Stinger barrel also has the longer chamber to better accommodate the longer casing of the hypervelocity rounds.     The Aguila SuperMax clocked at 1,750 out of a 18" 22 bolt gun and over 1,800 fps out of a gun I had with a longer barrel. It really is a very, very hot round but it is also very inaccurate in all the guns I tried it in. It would probably be minute of squirrel at 25 yards but at 25 yards there would not ne anything left.
  9. Didn't think the buffer tubes for the Sig brace had the cutout for the "tooth". At least the 3-4 I have bought never did. I would just tighten them down tight then lock that in with the castle nut.   And with the recent ruling it makes the Sig brace useless unless you are shooting it one handed.
  10. And with that there will be a flood of super cheap arm braces for sale.
  11. Yeah, I would grab a pair of plier and put some padding on it then squeeze each side to open the feed lips up some. Providing the feed lips do not hit the bolt I think it will be fine. There are a few other options, send it back and hope the next one is better or file the feed lips down/out some. I, personally, would have a hard time filing on a magazine that expensive though.

  13. Forget about the ACE hinge, I have had two separate versions of their hinges and they both began to wobble almost immediately. The Stormwerkz hinge is as solid as they come.
  14. You just omit the receiver end plate on the pig nose install. It is not needed to keep the pig nose from turning if you get the mini castle nut tight or use Loctite.   I bet you have a couple of buffer tubes held in place with only a castle nut and without the receiver end plate. Just because it is included does not mean it MUST be used.   Screw the pig nose in until there is just enough room for the mini castle nut. Tighten it down and make sure the pig nose is square. Then attach the hinge to the pig nose then add the buffer tube of your choice. And with the hinge you could use the end plate if you do not have one.
  15. That price is actually what it was last week when I was looking. It seems as though the prices have jumped about $15-$20 now.   I would love to go to Bud's Gun Shop, which is 20 miles away, but before I drive I need to know they have them but it seems like they will not answer their damn phone. I have tried calling several times a day for the last couple of days and I am getting no answer.
  16. Like the title says I am going to buy a Shield to replace the all steel 1911 I have carried for years.    I am looking for the one without the safety and so far I have found them for $347 shipped, anyone know of any cheaper or any places that give discount to .mil?   Thanks   Hey Mike, you are going to have another weapon inbound tomorrow.
  17. Nope, but I was on it long before the accident for some other injuries but I have not taken it in at least 14 years.
  18. Or if you want PM me your address and I will send you one. If it fixes it then just send it back and buy a new one.
  19. Buy the cheapest you can find.
  20. Please tell me you have that in stock!!! Must resist, do not look, look away now.
  21. Buy this, it goes into the back of the receiver: http://riflestocks.com/store/product27.html It is what the hinge attaches to.   Here is the ring to lock the above in place: http://riflestocks.com/store/product108.html   Then buy this hinge: http://stormwerkz.com/stock-folding-mechanisms/stock-folding-mechanism-ar-type/   Then screw the buffer tube into it.   That is about the shortest you are going to get a folding stock on that gun. I am about to do the same to a dedicated 22lr AR.
  22. I would use the 77 grain stuff or BlackHills 69 grains stuff while I was working overseas. When we ran out of those we ran M855. But I would suspect any decent hunting round would work great for you.
  23. Replace the disconnected.   If that doesn't fix it let me know and we can do a little filing to fix it.
