From all I have read the Century Arms 100% US made AK, the C39V2, is actually a really good gun. Version 1 was also a good gun but some of the parts were not made to the AK standard so they went with a newer version that accepts standard AK parts. Never thought I would hear US made is a bad thing, especially weapons because we are no doubt the #1 gun producing country in the world. I am not talking sheer numbers but the variety so I would think if anyone can make a quality AK, and possibly improve upon it, it would be the United States. I suspect we are also the #1 producer but not 100% positive on that.

I have been wanting a 9mm AK for a very, very long time.

I would like to see NFA legalized without the defense to prosecution part. That is just rip for overzealous officers to begin arresting people for having NFA items and letting the courts dismiss the charges. I would also like to see loaded long gun carry be legalized for HCP holders. Problem is we will see all the Open Carry buffoons ruining it really quickly for us. Heck, I would be happy with a requirement to conceal providing I can carry a loaded rifle or shotgun anywhere I can carry a pistol right now.

First Class III and Trust!
Dolomite_supafly replied to jmevis's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
That is how it has been for as long as I have been involved with NFA stuff. But in all fairness that has only been about 4-5 years now. Even when you eFile they will generally notify you of a problem and let you correct it. It generally gets approved within a day of the correction. When I had errors mine took a little longer to get approved but I had some special circumstances come up. They said the signature of the sheriff looked like a copy so they sent it back. Well between the time the sheriff signed and when I got the forms back the sheriff went into hiding, and appointed the chief deputy as his replacement, because of some legal woes the sheriff got himself into. Because of that I could not get the sheriff to sign again so I had to get the chief deputy sign for the sheriff. Then the ATF had issues with two different signatures so I had to explain to them, and provide documentation, as to why the sheriff was no longer the sheriff. It took about three months from the correction to the approval but when they did contact me again to let me know all was good they did say it took longer because they had to research, and confirm, the story of the sheriff. But that is not an issue because I use a trust now. -

Personally I would start by grabbing a few training DVDs and train at home. Even YouTube can be a good resource. 90% of most training can be done without firing a shot. -
In all honesty we should have never given them any amount of money. Less than 25 years ago we were sworn enemies but all of a sudden they want to be our allies when we offer to give them money. I am so tired of the US trying to make friends using our tax money. That money could be used to take care of our veterans, our homeless as well as our kids that are going hungry. This is how it goes. We have a country who hates us so we try to buy their friendship but even if they do become our friends it is only temporary because if we ever stop paying them they will hate us again. So many countries are addicted to our aid and if we stopped all payments the world, as a whole, would be outraged at the US. And one more thing, I wonder how much of our money wax actually used as intended? We hear about all the corruption from the bottom to the top in both countries so one can't help but wonder if it is all just another way to scam the taxpayers our of their retirement.

Wanna hear about a law that makes no sense?
Dolomite_supafly replied to gregintenn's topic in General Chat
I would assume it is to prevent distractions from other teens in the same vehicle. Once a person starts collecting social security retirement they should be required to take annual reaction tests just to check their reaction times to emergencies. Then every 3 years they should do a behind the wheel driving test like a 16 year old does. If a person is on disability, like me, they should also be required to take a driving test periodically. One thing I really, really wish they would do is change the colors of handicap placards periodically to prevent fraudulent use. Every 3 years change them to a different color because that is the renewal interval if I remember correctly. I see placards that are either expired or completely missing an expiration date. -
Video of a Break-In and Shoot Down

You would be surprised how many doors are made of thin wood, especially interior doors. It almost looks that was a room for rent in a house and that is why it was so easily breached. But most interior doors, and frames, will not stop even a half hearted kick. -
Do not cheap out on the Mini Red Dots. If you do it will be a waste of money. I have bought several cheap ones before buying a Burris Fast Fire. The cheap ones have miserable battery life if you do not turn them off, one had a dead battery within 24 hours. The lens cracked on the other cheap one through normal use. The Burris Fast Fire has an on/off switch which I consider a must but it also has extremely long battery life. I bought it in 2007 and I believe I am on the 4th battery now. One thing I really like about a lot of these mini red dots is they automatically adjust for ambient conditions. You do not have to fool with an adjustment knob when going from inside to out or vice versa. They are also very, very lightweight.

You realize you cannot SBR that unless it has the required US made parts. And I have not seen any retailers sling enough parts the meet the required numbers. And it takes a lot more than just adding a US made stock. Considering the grip and forearm appear to be molded into the receiver that prevents those from being replaced as well. I know no one has been charged with a violation of 922r but this, at this time, would be pretty easy to tell it is in violation of 922r because there are not enough parts in the market to make it legal to SBR. I went through the same questions and answers with the ATF when I SBRd an AK pistol. They told me that I MUST have the correct part count or I would be in violation of 922r. Again, not saying you would ever be caught but if so that is some pretty serious penalties. The form to cross state lines can be filled out a year at a time. You can list the dates from January 1 to December 31. Pretty easy to fill out and I think, but not positive, they can be eFiled now. I am just unsure if you can only eFile the form on eFiled firearms.

I know there was a guy who built a blowback 9mm Galil that was awesome.

Ever think that the person who stole it did see you but not on that day. Perhaps someone who has seen you stow it before and knows where you stow it. And I don't care who it is they are not going to hug me if they are offended by what they might feel when they do. I hope you get your gun back but I would have a hard time not partially blaming the person who made you stow the gun. I would let her know that you are 100% certain there is a criminal with a gun around her store. Make her as upset about it as you are. The only places I stow my gun are the hospital and the the post office but my wife is ALWAYS in the car when I do. I will never store my gun because of a place of business, there are just too many places competing for my money right now for me to support those who do not believe I have a right to defend myself.

Ruger LC9 redesign to striker fired, it surprised me
Dolomite_supafly replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in Handguns
My wife has an LC9 and it is a handful, especially that last round of 124 grain bullets. I told my buddy the last round is about like a 357 magnum as far as recoil goes and it is pretty damn close. I guess his was the pro version, all he kept saying is was the "S" version because it is striker fired. I detest a magazine safety and almost detest a manual safety on a DA gun almost as much. There is a place for safeties but it isn't on a gun with a LONG 5 pound trigger. I would never carry my 1911 without a thumb safety but that is because it also has a 3 pound trigger which I actually increased to that when I started carrying it. I felt carrying around a gun with a 2 pound trigger, with virtually zero take up and over travel, to be a bit on the edge. I will be picking up a Shield this coming week. I have been needing a lightweight gun for some time now. It will be hard but I will put my all steel gun in the safe when I get the Shield. -

The "S" stands for "Striker". It is one and the same pistol. -
Is that 308 Winchester? Are those AI magazines? I have been eyeballing these for several years. http://mdttac.com/lss-chassis-for-savage.html

My wife has the hammer fired LC9 and the trigger sucks in a major way. Way to long, way too heavy and the worst part is the false reset it has about 1/2 way between the gun firing and the real reset. And at that point I had sworn off any other LC9. Well today a LE friend of mine called me looking for a backup gun/ off duty gun. I told him to look at the Shield as that is what I was going to get. He called me an hour later and said he was getting and LC9 so I gave him a piece of my mind. But before I could get into a full blown diatribe about how bad the LC9 sucks he said this is the new striker fired version. He even said the trigger is lighter and nicer than the shield. At that point I told him to stop by because I did not believe it. On the way home he stopped by and I gave the new LC9 a good look over. Appearance wise it is identical to the hammer fired version, it even takes the same magazines but the rear of the slide looks like any other striker fired gun. It will use the same holster as the previous version as well. Some other noticeable differences is the striker version does NOT have a magazine disconnect which is a God send because they are nothing more than an accident waiting to happen for most users. It is also lacking an external safety like most striker fired guns these days. It also is missing the loaded chamber indicator but that is not a big deal because you should know the condition of your gun as well as assume all guns are loaded. The all metal trigger is a typical striker fired pistol trigger as well with the blade in the middle to act as a safety. And when I measured the trigger pull it came in at under 5 pounds several times. This is really surprising for a carry gun of its size. I will say that the take up is about the same as the original LC9 but noticeably lighter. The reset of the new version is significantly shorter but you will still have to release it ~1/4" for the trigger to reset. The sights are typical 3 dot sights that are drift adjustable. My friend did say he compared the Shield to the redesigned LC9. He said the Shield had a much crisper, but heavier, trigger. He also said the reset on the Shield was significantly shorter than the LC9. And looking at the stats online the LC9 is 2 ounces lighter than the Shield. I will say that the trigger, from a personal perspective, was very surprising on the redesigned LC9. It was light enough that I even said "WOW" out loud because it actually feels a lot lighter than the ~5 pounds it measured at. He fired a few hundred rounds through it without a single problem.

Are they made in the US now? I have wanted one for a while but only to SBR.

New Twist in the SIG Brace Debate
Dolomite_supafly replied to btq96r's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
Depends, some nail guns are classified as AOWs if used as a weapon. Imagine that, you are in a life and death struggle and you use a nail gun to defend yourself then go to jail for employing an illegal AOW. -
New Twist in the SIG Brace Debate
Dolomite_supafly replied to btq96r's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
The ONLY gun I have with a brace is my shorty AK that I carry with me EVERYWHERE and that will not change. I will still carry it and I will still have the Sig brace installed. And if I HAVE to shoulder it in a life or death situation then I will deal with the ramifications of that. I will not give up an advantage that might save my life. -
I take it you have no plans to SBR it, at least not right now. What is that ring in the middle of the gun?
