  1. No, something like this with a muzzle brake inside the outer tube: Shooting at the range with the brake then screw on the outer tube when hunting. Or like this: BTW, here is the brake above for cheaper: http://www.kineti-tech.com/kineti-tech-muzzle-brake-with-sound-redirect-with-13-16-x-16-threaded-sleeve-2-piece/
  2. Buy one of the combination brakes. It has a tube on the outside that redirects gasses, and noise, to the front when you do not want the effects of the brake. They are expensive.
  3. No clue, but would like to know.   Thought they looked like the new stuff Outlaw Bullets has been working on.
  4. What ammo issues? 5.45x39 is not banned and is available from Wolf/Tula as brand new ammunition. The only thing that is banned from import is 7N6 but who would want to shoot it anyways. It is corrosive and more expensive than new ammunition. I know I would not buy it even if it was WAY cheaper than commercial ammunition. Commercial 5.45x39 is within a few dollars per thousand of 7.62x39. But if you are really against 5.45x39 there are plenty of 5.56 AKs on the market. And they are the same price as any other caliber.
  5. I will be getting another AK at some point and I will probably build an AK 105 clone.
  6. Looks like some bullets from Outlaw Bullets. As long as they cycle should work well. If they decide to hang you might try seating them a little deeper.   Did not know you hand loaded.
  7. Not going to find a red dot that does look like a number 8 or a comma. It drives me crazy and I even talked to my optometrist about it and he said they cannot correct the astigmatism. But with that I did see another optometrist and he had a prescription made that seemed to help a lot.   Find a optometrist that is involved in shooting and see what he can do for you.
  8.   I have had one slam fire with no trigger in the trigger guard. It was a Saiga shotgun and I was dropping rounds in the chamber one at a time. I dropped the bolt and boom. Then I researched and there are warning about doing that exact thing. So I would also say the operators might want to learn about their gun because I had no clue until I had the slam fire. Luckily it was pointed in a safe direction but it did scare the crap out of me.
  9. You have to know your enemy.
  10. What is up with women carrying their guns in their purses? That is the worst place to carry a firearm because that is what the bad guy wants, the purse. And I suspect they are carrying them without a holster, or something to cover the trigger, which is almost equally stupid.   The left seems to be picking up on these events and it will be used for the next "for the children" legislation.   I was watching Nancy Grace the other day as she talked about the 5 year old who killed his 9 month old brother using their grandfather's handgun. She said that every time something like this happens EVERY person who owns a gun should be forced to pay. Then another commenter, who seemed to be a real dingbat, said the 5 year old should be punished to the full extent the law allows.
  11. Yes, you do NOT need to contact or inform CLEO with a trust.
  12. I was so happy to get your call today. I was very worried after getting all the details last week. Now you just need to get healed up and back to living life to the fullest.
  13. I would not call him, I WOULD call the authorities. If you call him then it could turn into a he said-she said situation and you could get in trouble. Always be the first person to call the law so your story is first. The first story tends to be viewed as the truth.   And honestly, what is a phone call going to do? There is no way I would be trying to talk anything out with someone who threatened my family. And without the threat, and fear, of something anything you say might as well be said looking at a tree. And only the law would have the authority to act on a threat to your daughter.
  14. My pistol is to fight to a rifle if it lasts that long. And part of getting to my rifle is creating distance as well as moving. I often have the "rifle", by way of a Sig brace equipped AK pistol, nearby even while shopping. My wife often carries as well as knows enough about the AK to at least put rounds down range.
  15. You can use red dot for distance shots but the key is making sure the dot isn't too big. I own a Millet Zoom Dot and you can turn the dot size down to 1 MOA or as big as 10 MOA. Using it I was able to, with the dot size turned down to 1 MOA, to get hits at man sized targets at 600 meters about 50% of the time and 300 yards 90% of the time.    One thing that I have started to really consider a must with red dots is an automatically adjusting brightness levels. I would watch other people constantly adjust their brightness levels.
  16. I just left him a message. Hoping he, or one of his relatives, calls back. I know his daughter has been really close by lately.   BTW, his aneurism is VERY serious and the biggest I have ever heard of. He even said the doctors said they have never seen one that big on a living person. So we need to really need to be keeping him in your thoughts right now.
  17. It seems like it would be a lot simpler for people to upload their own videos then post them here in their respective section. Otherwise seems like there would be a lot of bandwidth being used moving videos around. Then the other problem is who ever shot the video owns that video and if WE, as in TGO, has control of it that can get a little sticky if THEY decide they no longer want it up.   BTW, I am going to start doing some videos. I think my first video will be a home grown tritium install on a pistol for under $20. I already have the tritium ordered, just waiting on them to come in.
  18.   I shot irons for a long time then I got spoiled with various scopes. Then about three years ago I fell back in love with irons and use them as often as I can.
  19. Depends on what you expect. Inside of 15 yards you should be able to "point-n-click" a target with practice. From 15-100 yards I would use a sight that has a larger rear aperture and for anything beyond 100 I would use the small aperture.
  20. I carry a pistol and have another "pistol" in the vehicle. The second "pistol" is a 7.5" AK with a folding SIG brace.
  21. I shot a 100 rounds of the Federal aluminum case without issue.
  22. One of the most common ways people try to improve the trigger pull is to reduce the hammer's engagement. This sounds like what happens when too much is removed. And it can be hard to tell if if has been messed with.
  23. The nose of the trigger can wear over time causing it to have a reverse angle which will let the hammer slip off. I am assuming the disconnect spring is present. Are you sure there is not a setscrew in the grip screw hole? Or no one polished either the trigger or hammer engagements? Not accusing you, but if you bought the gun used it is possible someone tried to improve the trigger and it has finally worn enough to be an issue. We can fix it by filing on the disconnect. I can PM you my number and you can call so I can talk you through it. I have had to fix this exact problem z few dozen times on my guns. It is an easy fix but just want to make sure the hammer and trigger are not the problem.
  24. I think Santa wasn't watching someone.
  25. Anyone heard from Doug?
